This episode will recap the SRC Backyard Ultra going down on Long Island NY. In a backyard ultra competitors much complete a 4.17 mile loop on the hour every hour! Faster you go, the more rest you have until the top of the next hour. This continues until everyone quits and only one runner remains. The runners dictate the finish line.
This race is not about speed. It is about determination and survival. Its mental warfare and strategy. It's so simple that it will drive people crazy.
This year I got myself a new backyard ultra PR!
See you in the discord!

Today I want to talk through a little bit of what has been going on with me mentally over the past month or so. Many have called it "post race blues" which man people feel after so many months leading into a big event and are left feeling a little lost.
Many have told me that I am going through post race blues coming off the Javelina Jundred but I think it is more detailed than that.
Let me know what you think and thank you always for listening!

This week I got to sit down with Long Island ultra runner Nicky Dupkin. Nicky isn't following the path of normal 20 year olds. While his peers are out chasing the night life, Nicky is in his bed at 7pm preparing for an early morning long run. Why? Simple put, he wants to be one of the best.
After finding out about running from Goggins, Nicky walked on to his college cross country team just wanting to get in shape and make some changes in his life. He had no idea that the world of ultra marathon even existed.
Fast forward 1 year, Nicky took 5th place in his first 50k with a sub 4:20 performance and 2nd at the Shore to Shore 50k here on long Island. By his own admission, he has a ton to learn and is very excited to see where more consistent training and experience will bring him.
I cant wait to see where this kid ends up. He has all the makings of a champion. It's not if, but when!

This past week I took on the Snow Peaks 50 Miler formerly known as the Squaw Peak 50 Miler in Provo Utah. Coming from Long Island I was blown away by the views and terrain.
I definitely didnt have the race that I was hoping for as performance. The heat and altitude sure did get the best of me, but with the help of some friends and an amazing pacer I was able to get to the line!
In this episode I want to break down the highs and lows of the race and some things I will take away from it to help you in your next race.

This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Chris Morrison. Chris a father, instagram content creator and Ultra Runner out of Arizona. Chris found a love for running after spending some time in rehab for alcoholism. Since then he has been running regularly and is now going from Rehab to 100 milers and beyond.Chris and I speak first about the impact of social media on his running journey and how he creates such creative comedic videos. Living in Arizona can make it very challenging to run, especially when you grew up in Alaska. Chris talks about his move to AZ and if he plans on staying. Being a father of two, Chris and I will talk how he finds time to run ultras as well as being an amazing father and husband. As the conversation progressed, Chris told us why he didn't make it to the line of the Black Canyon Ultra and why he took the month of February off from Instagram. This led to the need for kindness and supporting one another. We end the episode talking about his training and what huge goals that he has planned in 2024 and beyond!Chris's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrismorrison_runs/
