Finding peace in Jesus Christ is one thing. Maintaining that peace is another. We can go to bed completely relaxed and wake up in turmoil thinking about the day ahead. Where did the peace escape to? The peace weâre seeking is a peace that endures circumstances, fears and emotional distress. Itâs also something consistent, not a peace that comes and goes. Itâs the peace of God that transcends all understanding. Let's spend time in that truth in today's audio devotional.

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Imagine being one of the disciples, gathered around Jesus as he spoke those amazing words in an isolated place with just them in his presence. They didnât know what was ahead, but Jesus did. He knew that they would face persecution when he left, even to the point of death. Hardship, conflict and war for their faith would escalate, taking their lives in the end.
Not until he sent the Holy Spirit to his disciples in Acts 2 could they truly experience a peace deep within their souls. We experience it today! In today's audio devotional, let's consider this unexplainable peace Jesus offers. You might need it right now.

Living a life of surrender to Christ isnât easy. Itâs agonizing at times. Praise be to God that we surrender to a loving Savior and Heavenly Father. That's what we'll center on today as we start a new devotional theme this week.

We canât throw everything out of our lives to accommodate rest. Indeed, there are some things we might have to toss or put on hold. Maybe a couple commitments that we need to pause for now.
Letâs take a look at one of the busiest men of the New Testamentâthe Apostle Paul. After he came to Christ, he vanished for years to prepare for ministry. Most of us dive headlong into new things when opportunity arises. Especially when asked to serve God. But not Paul. What can we learn from him? Let's explore that today in our audio devotional.

The practice of rest is hard, but silently experiencing Godâs presence is even harder. In our flurry of activities, input, noise and our interruptive devices, weâre up against an army of enemies. Rest and communion with God donât come naturally.
If Satan can keep us busy, he keeps us from God. We have to be intentional to win this war. Let's dig into that today in our audio devotional.
KEY PASSAGE:
I Kings 19:9-13
And the word of the Lord came to him: âWhat are you doing here, Elijah?â
He replied, âI have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.â
The Lord said, âGo out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.â
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Isnât it time to stop running on empty? No matter how hard it is to set aside time to rest, you must do it. Shut down your body, mind and emotions. Put them in neutral. Take a break.We'll do it together this week.
KEY PASSAGE:
Matthew 14:18-23
âBring them here to me,â he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.

Our lives are filled with stuff. So much stuff that storage units seem like the fastest growing business around. Three-car garages are popular, not because we have three cars, but because we need one slot to store all our stuff.
In Psalm 4, the Psalmist is speaking about stuff. Material wealth. He looks around him at all his neighborsâ overflowing blessings. And his response? Contentment. Joy. In fact, more joy than his neighbors are experiencing with their fabulous blessings.
Let's see how we can adopt that attitude in today's audio devotional.

Why do we try "joy substitutes" when we have full joy? Good question.
We let joy âsubstitutesâ crowd out our Savior. Thatâs why we go from one to another. They donât satisfy for long. Jesus said, âthat my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.â When I hear him saying that to me, I picture joy as a seed waiting to grow. Jesusâ joy is inside me, but it only grows when nourished.
Let's explore that today.
Key Passage: âAs the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be fullâ (John 15:9-11).
