Create a sustainable future: Join forces to unlock the power of tourism for good.
"I'm an optimist that we can create a better world, and I realized that tourism can be a very good multiplicator for that world."
Andreas Koch has 25 years of experience in the sustainable tourism industry. He is the co-founder of the companies blueContec and Tourythm, which works to make travel a force for good.
Andreas Koch, a biologist and environmental management policy student, saw the potential for tourism to spread values of sustainability. For thirteen years he worked at TUI, a big European travel company, and co-founded a sustainable tourism NGO.
He works with destinations, hotels and corporations to create a sustainability “rhythm” by connecting guests, employees, suppliers and local farmers. Through his long track-record in this space and by experiencing the changes during this time, Andreas sees tourism as a chance to create a better world.

I think todays episode should be very interesting to many of you, because of the destination that we will be talking about. This destination is almost like a second home to many Norwegians and I think also globally this is a very popular place to go. We are talking about the Canary Islands.
My guest today is John Dale Beckley.
John is the founder and manager of the Sustainable Tourism non profit CANARY GREEN, which is the only English speaking non profit dedicated to sustainable tourism on the Canary Islands. They want to help the ~14 million tourists visiting the Islands each year to travel more sustainably. That is why they have made it their mission to showcase and promote the responsible and sustainable initiatives on the Canary Islands. Together with local businesses and travelers globally they help create this positive and necessary change.

Welcome to Roaming Roots, everyone!
Today I have the pleasure of having Byron Thomas, founder of Niarra Travel, as my very first guest.
Niarra Travel is a company that operates on the principles of transparency and purpose, creating unforgettable trips to inspiring places while directing more tourism revenue to the people and communities protecting our increasingly fragile natural world.
In this episode, we will be exploring the future of travel and tourism with Byron, we will learn about his background and how he got into the industry, as well as the work that Niarra Travel does. We will also be discussing the importance of conservation and connecting people, the dilemmas related to travel, and what we can do to make travel more responsible.
I have to say that this conversation changed some of my views about travel and that was exactly what I hoped for with this podcast! And coming from Scandinavia, where the term flight shame originated, Byron gave me some food for thought.
