  • This week, we're scratching The Itch to get Villainous! Amanda Lyberg of Eva Under Fire returns to give us an exclusive track-by-track breakdown of the band's highly anticipated new album. From the opening song that tells the story's last chapter to the record's particularly violent end, Amanda is making it clear that she's laying claim to her identity, regardless of what anyone has to say about it.

We'll talk about the title track collaboration with Maria Brink of In This Moment, the huge upcoming tour with Five Finger Death Punch, and how to fool-proof an album for label suits. Plus, Amanda gets to play with dangerous weapons... sort of. Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch to head out West! Aaron takes a dream vacation to Colorado see not one, but two shows at Red Rocks, and along the way runs into not one, but two Itch guests!

Join us to hear the story of the feminine metal energy on display as Kittie, Gore., and Thousand Frames rock the Ogden Theatre in Denver. Then travel to the beautiful Red Rocks for back-to-back shows! First, Aaron celebrates an album he knows very well as Jimmy Eat World celebrates 25 years of Bleed American with Sunny Day Real Estate and The Get Up Kids. Then, he goes in nearly blind the next night as Lord Huron and Fightmaster take the stage... with a familiar face in tow!

All this plus elder emos, functioning pay phones, and ... sexy pizza? Escape to the Rockies with us and enjoy!

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch for a two-for-one deal! Ekoh and Lø Spirit have spent years forging unique paths as independent solo artists. But a collaboration a few years ago led to the realization that, well, they love collaborating. They formalized their alliance this year with a new band, Ninth Key, and put themselves on the map (and the charts) immediately with their debut single, "If I Wasn't Me".

With a strong ethos and a stronger work ethic, Ekoh and Lø have set out to claw their way to success without a big team, cowriters, or AI behind them. Their determination and DIY attitude make them the exact kind of authentic, against-the-grain guys The Itch loves to root for. And their penchant for dropping nuggets of wisdom in conversation make them the exact kind of guys we love to talk with. Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch to get amphibious and delirious! We saw some toads, some frogs, and some excellent bands, and now it's time to talk about it.

First, Aaron pivots his original plans in favor of an impromptu free (or suggested donation) street fest performance by Lip Critic and Delivery Boys. Will The Itch become fans of yet MORE New York acts? Then he sees some familiar faces in recent guests Toadies and perennial favorites Local H, along with Dallas's own Vandoliers in a night full of cow punk, nasty riffs, falling flags, and a Local H set that had a theme!

Finally, KC and Dan check out Les Claypool pulling triple duty playing for Primus, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, and The Frog Brigade all in one night! When your night involves the son of a Beatle, a drummer with good taste, and something about cockroaches, it's probably gonna be a good time. And we hope you have a good time hearing about it. Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch for a class reunion! The Itch's Favorite Punk Band™ Winona Fighter is about to head out on the idobi Radio Summer School tour with Honey Revenge, South Arcade, Games We Play, and Chase Petra. And just in time to hit the road, they dropped a new single, "Bombs Away," their first new music since both versions of last year's Itch Album of the Year My Apologies to the Chef. Lead lady Coco Kinnon joins the three-timer's club to talk about the tour, the single, and how they proved to themselves what they're capable of with their wild, life-changing 2025.

Plus, we discuss the band's return to Warped Tour, their desire to speak to political frustration across ideologies, their new PG and not-so-PG t-shirts, and how a date night can lead to an acoustic reimagining of an entire album. As always with Winona F'n Fighter, this one's a good time. Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch to ride the wave! Wave Day II in Santa Ana, California is only days away, and our boys in Aurorawave are so excited about it that the whole band stopped by to talk about their signature show, which also features Lexi Layne, Playuh, and the live solo debut of Sonny Dread of P.O.D.!

And of course we've got to cover their instantly legendary Shiprocked experience, where they won over the crowd so much with their beach set and impromptu video shoot that they ended up getting the rare back-to-back year invite for 2027! The guys have a lot to say about their time on the boat, including thoughts on networking with other bands, making connections with new fans, and inspiration they took from seeing Knocked Loose.

Plus, we've got stories of Aurorawave's most dangerous drives, how reggae bands always end up on the beach (but not usually in front of metal heads), and, as expected, plenty of thoughtful insight on how to use digital means to build community with real people. Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch for etiquette! The guys caught a trio of VERY different shows with one thing in common: concertgoers in need of friendly reminders about how to act. But that's what we're here for, right? That and giggles.

First, it's an early Father's Day as Dan takes his dad to see Itch guest Kenny Wayne Shepherd on his Ledbetter Heights 30th anniversary tour, where nostalgia and mastery were both on display.

Then, Dan pivots to being the dad himself, as he and Hannah take their sons (and KC!) to see Bring Me the Horizon, Motionless in White, The Plot in You, and Amira Elfeky at a show that would gain national rock news attention for a rather unpleasant reason. (Don't worry, it had nothing to do with us.)

And finally, we cover Pointfest for the sixth year in a row. But when a show's headliner is unbearably boring, the rest of the lineup has a lot of weight to pull. Did they succeed? Listen to find out as Dan catches Magnolia Park, From Ashes to New, Highly Suspect, Mammoth, and Blue October! And stay to the end for an etiquette proposal that you're sure to have an opinion on! Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch to get charmed! Our guest is drummer Mark Reznicek of Toadies, whose long-awaited eighth album The Charmer is out now. It's been nine years since their last album, but given the wild story of how their follow-up to 1994's platinum-selling Rubberneck was delayed all the way into the nu metal era, they're a band that understands the benefits of patience. Their endurance as a band has in no small part been due to the continued love and support they've received in their hometown of Fort Worth, where they've achieved cult favorite status.

The Charmer was one of the last records recorded by legendary producer/engineer Steve Albini before his passing in 2024, and it deals with Toadies frontman Vaden Todd Lewis's struggles with depression and mental health. For our money, it's among the band's best works. Mark takes us through the process of recording the album and working with the famously opinionated Albini, and even humors us on a detour into Buzzkill, the Dark Horse/Image comic he co-created that played a part in launching the career of one of Marvel's "it" writers, Donny Cates. This is one we've waited 35 years for. Enjoy. And see Toadies on tour this year with Local H. You won't regret it.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch for a youth movement! Our guests are Chaya and Nyrobi Beckett-Messam, collectively known as ALT BLK ERA. They're sisters who grew up with a passion for music that led them to start creating at a young age. With strong family support and a penchant for engrossing themselves in various genres, they put their individual personalities and styles together to release their debut album, the fantastic drum and bass/rock hybrid Rave Immortal, just last year. Now they're back with further experimentation on a new EP called Our World.

The girls join us to discuss the EP, as well as their experience navigating the alternative scene as teenagers and showing that they could, in fact, stand on their own as artists. Plus, they give insight into the challenges of touring while living with a hidden disability and the wild story of how they bonded and collaborated with Wheatus. Enjoy.

As promised, here's ALT BLK ERA's reaction video as they play "My Drummer's Girlfriend" in front of their drummer's girlfriend, as well as Chaya making her guitar debut on that song at 2000trees 2024 and the band getting the party started at that show with "Upstairs Neighbours".

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch to be repeat customers! Within a span of a few days, the guys saw a pair of shows at Delmar Hall, which has quickly become one of our favorite St. Louis venues. First, the whole gang catches past guest Des Rocs and future guests King Falcon in a good ol' rock and roll show with an electropunk set from Romes sandwiched in the middle. Technical difficulties led to some fun and unique improvised on-stage activities (especially if you're into Pokémon), and a thunderstorm during the show led to some quality wordplay. And good and safe times were had by almost all.

Then, KC and Dan caught past guest Brandon Saller and Atreyu for a set that featured a lot of comedy and an opening performance from a different-than-last-time sounding Fire From the Gods. While getting some good laughs and a great performance from Atreyu was a given, we weren't sure what to expect from new Fire frontman Myke Terry, who replaced past guest AJ Channer last year. Well now we know, and we've got some ideas for what the future of the band might hold. Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch for riffs! Jamie Hall of Tigercub joins us to discuss the process of creating their new album, Nets to Catch the Wind. By the time a band reaches their fourth record, it can be easy to fall into familiar creative patterns and produce work that isn't as satisfying for the artist or the audience. But with Jamie's awareness of his own habits and a bit of inspiration from their creative partner Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam, the band's new album may be both their biggest and their most intricate yet.

And they're not stopping with the studio, as they just performed their most ambitious headline show ever in London, pulling out new stops such as a Kabuki drop, and they're aiming to do the same on May 13th at the Gramercy in New York City. This one was a long time coming, and we're thrilled to finally bring it to you. Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch to get schooled! As in, our returning guest, Brandon Yeagley of Crobot, just started one! In addition to being a present father, a dirty groove rocker with a new album, and the king of the Shiprocked Stowaways, he's recently added two more titles to his resume: co-founder of Electric River Records and teacher at his new Let There Be Rock school in Pottsville, PA!

Somehow, among all of those roles (and a few we more we didn't even get to cover), he found time to chat with us about how all of these endeavors interweave and help him scratch his own itch to help the next generation of rockers. As always with Brandon, the conversation was a charming combination of wit and wisdom. Enjoy. And if you'll be near Austin, Texas on May 2, have fun celebrating Crobot Day!

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch for a three-peat! Arya Goggin of Skindred (The Itch's Official Favorite Band™) joins the three-timer club to discuss their ninth album, You Got This. As with all of their albums, this one is full of genre-hopping earworms ranging from pop rockers to old school ragga-metal jams. In this conversation, we explore how the album got its title (and get some insight into how Skindred almost "jumped the shark" on a previous album), how a Hennessy bottle made it into the recording, and how frontman Benji Webbe's impeccable style comes with some job hazards.

Plus, we explore Skindred's new normal as they embark on their first ever album cycle without founding member Dan Pugsley. And The Itch is down a man ourselves, as (also for the first time ever) KC is out of commission due to technical troubles. But in keeping with the theme of the episode, Dan and Aaron just had to tell themselves... you got this. Enjoy. And hey, grab yourself a free download of the singles from You Got This and Smile, courtesy of the band!

Then, we're recapping the first three months of 2026. For The Itch, Q1 featured wish list interviews, some memorable concerts, and a ton of Shiprocked. And while it was a cold winter for album releases, we still found a few hot records to rock out to.

Finally, we look at the absolutely stacked lineup of albums scheduled to drop in April, May, and June ... plus an extra exciting one just announced for July! The Q2 hype has begun! Enjoy!

Plus, we discuss Kenny's recent tribute to B.B. King and collaboration with Bobby Rush, showing that you can still be a young man in the blues world at 48. • This week, we're scratching The Itch for some tours that were full of surprises! First, Aaron visits a new (to him) venue to see the Jeris Johnson tour minus Jeris Johnson, as Butcher Babies step up to headline a show at The WC Social Club with our friends Eva Under Fire and our possible family LYLVC. Then KC and Dan check out a new (to everyone) venue in The Sovereign in St. Louis to catch Itch guest Raine Maida and Our Lady Peace on their 30th anniversary tour with support from The Verve Pipe while Aaron compares notes after seeing them at The Vic in Chicago a few nights earlier. It's ladies night and 90s night for The Itch! Enjoy.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch to celebrate St Louis! It's episode 314, and who better to spotlight our city than Steve Ewing! Rock fans best know Steve as the dynamic frontman of Lou legends The Urge. But for over 15 years, St. Louisians have also been receiving the gift of flavor at Steve's Hot Dogs!

And if fronting a band and running a business weren't enough, Steve doubles down on both, performing regularly with the Steve Ewing Band and venturing into gourmet grilled cheese with Steve's Meltdown! PLUS, he manages to be a family man, give back to the community, and be a professional bodybuilder at 55. We were honored to be joined in this special episode by a man who's given us great music for over 30 years (as well as a 'Weird Al' themed Polish sausage). Enjoy. And if you're in town and you swing by Steve's, tell him we sent you.

  • This week, we're scratching The Itch for a trio of very different experiences! Dan and KC check off a bucket list band by seeing Nine Inch Nails (we're as surprised as you are that it took this long), and see the wildest performance yet of Badflower, a band we've covered live more than possibly any other. Plus, Aaron has some quality time with his dad seeing Tom Glynn pay tribute to some legendary singer-songwriters of the '70s.

So what was it like to see Trent Reznor and Co. perform for the first time? Were the boys prepared for the pre-show rave? (No.) Was Josh Freese ready to step back into the saddle with NIN? (Of course.) And after "crashing out" on stage due to struggles with his physical and mental health, what does the future hold for our dear Josh Katz and Badflower? (It remains to be seen, but it's encouraging!) All of this and more in our first non-Shiprocked, non-2025 holiday Concert Catch-up of the year! Enjoy.
