Well, can therapy help in grief ? Karen and Bec discuss that its got to be the right therapy, needless to say the first attempt at therapy wasn't great! Bec takes some convincing to keep trying to get the help she needs. Anger in their grief is high at the moment and Karen shares her difficult week and maybe her non politically correct way of dealing with challenges.
As usual expect tears, rants and of course laughter. Losing a loved one is an incredibly difficult journey, seeking grief therapy can be daunting, but hopefully a positive step towards navigating your loss and coping with grief. It should provide a safe space to process your emotions, share memories and try to rebuild your sense of self after loss.
So, grab yourself a cuppa, find a comfortable spot and we can journey through grief together.

We should say Happy New Year, but is it really?! Nothing has changed, our grief is just as intense, life continues to move all around us but we survived it.
Karen and Bec are back after the holidays and in this first episode of 2025 they share how they coped with the festive season and going into the New Year (which is so hard and no one ever warns you about!) Listen to them share how they found support in their grief with each other and in others. Loosing a child is most probably the hardest thing any parent can ever endure. Both Karen and Becs youngest children, Emily(16) and Bradley (18) died in June 2023 after suffering from the same type of Brain Cancer. We have come together to share what grief looks like to us, how we manage (or don't) with the every day, triggers, glimmers and life in between! Expect raw and honest unscripted conversations with tears, tantrums and laughter.
So grab yourself a cuppa, find a comfortable spot and we'll journey through grief together!

This weeks visual is not up to scratch and we apologise for that! Bec was in a lightening storm and lost signal for large portions of it and therefore dips in and out, this also meant we had to recover the footage and work hard to restore it!
Karen and Bec were joined back in September this year with fellow loss mum Angela Moseley who son William was diagnosed with a brain tumour 10 years before he died 2 years ago aged 18. Angela bravely shares Williams story for the first time and shares their journey whilst William was poorly and her own subsequent grief journey.

A bit of a different one this week. Karen and Bec chat to Jessica Patay, founder of We Are Brave Together is a non-profit organization, rooted in Southern California, that provides an international community of support for “Caregiving Moms”—moms caring for children or adult children with any diagnosis, disability or challenge: physical, medical, mental, emotional, behavioral. Our current membership of over 3,000 moms represents all 50 states and 27 countries.
Not all losses are a loss in the typical sense of the word, there are everyday living losses too and its important we talk about these as so many carers can feel hidden in plain sight. It is an immensely difficult, tough and lonely place to be.
Since inception, We Are Brave Together primary mission is to combat the isolation, loneliness, and compassion fatigue that these mothers face, and create opportunities for education, empowerment, support and connection.
We know that our brave mothers are at great risk for burnout, depression, and anxiety, so our mission is to truly preserve and protect their mental health with all our offerings. We believe if you educate and support a mom, you educate and support a whole family. We offer a host of resources to empower mothers in their unique and difficult journeys. We also provide online support resources through our Brave Together Parenting podcast, YouTube channel, monthly newsletters, blog posts and social media feeds. Most recently we released our first anthology, Becoming Brave Together: Heroic, extraordinary caregiving stories from mothers hidden in plain sight, to raise awareness about extreme caregiving and to shout the worth of caregiving and parent caregivers.

This week is just Karen on her own talking with Becs husband, Brads dad, Simon. Its an honest account of how one dad grieves following the death of his 18 year old son to brain cancer 16 months ago. Listen as Simon shares how he feels now, how he copes, what he thinks the future holds and what he struggles with the most. Its a raw, honest and moving conversation. If you are grieving and feeling alone, we think you find this one a useful listen. Simon opens this weeks discussion saying he will talk about 'stuff' and there really is very little they do not cover!
Both Karen and Simon were glad of a few hours peace from Bec! (shh - don't tell her!)
We'll share a picture of Brads car on our community chat too, so keep an eye out there for it!

We are joined by Natalie Ridler whose 4 year old son Morgan died in June last year (2023) from a rare type of cancer.
Morgan was diagnosed in 2021 after his mum was dismissed by doctors multiple times when raising her concerns, eventually she was listened to and their world then changed forever. Listen to Natalie share their fight to be heard and how they have chosen to live life in memory of their little boy.
Natalie explains things so much better than we ever do. She is thoughtful, insightful and makes so much sense.
Clearly heartbroken and her world changed forever, Natalie chooses to to live life for Morgan and to embrace the beauty around her. Such a positive and uplifting chat from something so sad which has left an impact on us all.
