In this episode I'm joined by Liv McKenzie, one of the new generation of comics in NZ well on her way to becoming a massive star. Easily my biggest comedic guest on the pod so far, so it's a very exciting day for me! We had a chat about what Liv has been up to post-comedy-fest, why it's important to keep yourself grounded as an entertainer and then we get into Liv's tiny joys. It's an awesome episode, and I hope you enjoy it!

Episode 70 already, blimey! If there was a comedy guild award for milking my previous content until it was long dry, I'd be the undisputed winner many years running.
I watched the movie Contagion a couple of weeks ago and it got me thinking about the pandemic again and I'd always wanted to do a comedy special commentary, so I thought I'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone and try my hand at one.
In this episode I play my whole special from 2023 All My Covid Jokes and interject throughout to add context or additional information, talk about lines that got cut or the inspiration behind certain jokes. It was a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it!

In this episode I'm joined by my good friend Anto Martin and we discuss the concept of "Done Is Better Than Perfect", a philosophy I've been working very hard to live by lately rather than getting bogged down in perfection and then projects never getting finished. Anto's someone I greatly respect who has achieved a whole pile of things in his life, so I brought him on the show to pick his brain and discuss how he gets things done, how he motivates himself and how he fights the urge to procrastinate. It's a great listen, and I hope you enjoy it.

This week I'm joined by stand up comedian, fledgling journalist and just all around lovely guy, Brodie Hunter! We have a chat about his studies as a journalist and then move onto talking about Reality TV, we chat about the early days of MTV's reality tv programs, keeping up with the kardashians, jersey shore and then move on to the king of reality tv - survivor! This podcast is gradually becoming a survivor podcast, it would seem.
Brodie's a very sweet and insightful guy, you can follow him on instagram @brodiehunter01 to keep up with his escapades! -
This week I'm joined by Anna of Paint & Sip, a lovely wee art studio in Christchurch's Arts Center where you can come along and join in on fun and social painting classes where you can also have a bevvy or two.
Anna has been a joy to chat with on the couple of occasions I've been into her studio so I feel very lucky she gave up some of her very busy week to record this podcast with me.
Check them out at paintnsip.co.nz they're also on Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram & TikTok

Content Warning: The fellas discuss the Drake/Kendrick beef which alludes to some alleged misconduct, as well as Baby Reindeer which deals with some really heavy subject matter, as well as a bit towards the end about terrorism which contains death, mayhem and self harm references. Jesus, writing this out now Taylor is realizing what a dark episode it comes across as, we swear it's a laugh though!
In episode 2 the dons of hosstown discuss the Rap Beef between Drake and Kendrick, or moreso Matt explains why this is so significant to Taylor. The boys then sojourn down Baby Reindeer Boulevard and Taylor explains why the in-show poster for "Lol-on Cancer" was a perfect easter egg. Biggie Smalls is inducted into the Hoss Hall of Fame and The Fellas end by discussing the "Would you rather meet a bear or a man in the woods" trend which leads into a discussion about male delusion, could they stop a bank robbery, land a plane with no training or beat a bear in single combat? Listen to find out!

Charn Williams is back with a vengeance and we talk about her Tiny Joys, it's another fun filled frolic through topics such as oodies, when is it people watching vs perving, how many beverages can one person have on the go at once, and why I suspect Charn is secretly a cat masquerading as a human.
Charn Williams's Tiny Joys:

This week I'm joined by Auckland based stand up comedian Ocean Denham and she brought 5 tiny joys to the show. We ended up getting into some great tangents about entertaining children, being labeled the "picky" eater as a kid, and why whenever you have a fringe, it's a sign that things aren't going well. (I currently have a fringe)
Ocean has a show coming up in the NZ Comedy fest called A Hot Girl And Her Suzuki Swift, grab tickets for it here and you can follow Ocean on Instagram here. Check out either, Ocean is really freaking funny.

This week I'm joined by my good friend and comedic colleague, Charn Williams where she talks us through the process of what it was like to donate a kidney here in NZ. Charn has a great memory for the details and took me through every step of the process with heaps of laughs along the way.

It's just over a week since a year to the day I left my previous job to work as a comedian full time. It's been a year of ups and downs and I've learnt a lot, most of which I tried to document in this episode of the podcasts.
The questions I covered:
Did I make any money this year? How much of my runway have I used? How has my lifestyle changed? How are my hands doing? My health in general? How is the podcast doing?I also talked about these observations:
Being a freelance entertainer is all about maintaining relationships, and weeding out the people who arenât worth your time.Waiting for venues / companies to pay you can be a nightmareYou need to be on top of your calendar / schedule, and be thinking ahead. You will get very frustrated with other peopleâs lack of organisationYouâre not obligated to reply to people straight awayYouâre going to feel like youâre shouting into the void a lotYou might find planning activities outside of work too exhausting to bother withEvery day is different. Youâll experience some of the weirdest gigs and jobs that you never saw yourself doingYouâre going to experience hella ups and downs. Youâll feel like youâre taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back a lot.You have to put yourself out there - you will experience growth from thisYou will often need to spend money to make moneyYou will really quickly learn the value of your work, and hearing ânoâ will no longer be devastatingYou will probably still have a lot of sleepless nightsYou will feel a new type of satisfaction having paid your bills off the back of your art -
Stoked to be finally sitting down with Chris Ingham, a comedian from the Manawatƫ region of NZ and chatting about Ultra Marathon Running. I have an aunt and uncle who are into this so it was great to chat with someone about it. Don't think I'll be partaking in it any time soon, although I've been training to try and hit the city 2 surf 6km run next year! Chris is one of the deadliest gag merchants in NZ and it was a pleasure to have him on the show.

HossTown is a monthly podcast by two big boys respectfully making some noise, stand up comedians Taylor Ruddle & Matt Lilley. The aforementioned Mayors of HossTown take a lighthearted look at masculinity in modern times - it's a journey of trying to find a balance between being Cavemen and Scholars with plenty of belly laughs along the way.
In episode 1 we see the Mayors of HossTown give a brief introduction about who they are, what HossTown is, where HossTown originated before moving into the main topic of the episode - can they beat their father in a 1 on 1 fight? Along the way the boys meander through previous fights they've been in, self defence classes and there's even a bit of sporting talk at the end!

In this episode, I ramble about my nostalgia for the way I used to watch anime back in the 90s during my childhood, and then in the wake of Akira Toriyama's passing I talk about my memories of DragonBall and why it was a meaningful series to me.
This one ended up being a lot longer than I expected, and there's still so much more I'd love to cover, so if you'd listen to more Anime themed episodes then let me know on the Patreon group or other social media and if there's any demand for it I'll definitely do more!
Rest In Peace, Toriyama Sensei. -

This time I'm joined by Dec McHale, Stand Up, Improv Comic, Actor & icon from Auckland and he joins me on the show to talk about the behemoth music event that is Eurovision! I learnt a lot about the history of the event, how geopolitics influences the event depending on what's happening in Europe and then we talk about why Eurovision is meaningful to Dec, as well as how it has influenced him throughout his life. I learnt that Eurovision is sometimes known as "The Gay Olympics" which I found just delightful, most likely doing a follow up podcast with Dec about it!
