  • In this episode of Jamie D & Big Newt, Jamie D'Amico and Big Chris Newton dive into the Buffalo Bills’ thrilling win over the Detroit Lions and what it means for their standing in the NFL. The hosts argue that this victory might have anointed the Bills as the best team in the league, largely thanks to another stellar performance from QB Josh Allen, who they now consider the prohibitive MVP favorite.

But it’s not all celebrations. The hosts highlight concerns about the defense, which has surrendered 90 points over the past two games—a trend that could spell trouble down the stretch. On the bright side, DT Ed Oliver silenced his critics (including Jamie and Big Newt) with one of the most dominant performances by any defensive tackle in the NFL this season, earning well-deserved praise from the duo.

And in a lighter moment, the hosts debate how many more likes it will take on X (formerly Twitter) for Big Newt to fulfill a listener request to record himself singing Christmas carols.

Join Jamie and Big Newt for another lively episode filled with analysis, loads of laughter, and holiday cheer. Don’t miss it! 🎄🏈🎙️

  • Coming off their first loss since Week 5, the Buffalo Bills (10-3) head to Michigan to take on the NFC’s top team, the Detroit Lions (12-1) in what is shaping up to be another high-scoring shootout Sunday afternoon in a battle of leading Super Bowl contenders.
To get you ready for the game, this week on the Billieve podcast, host John Boccacino welcomes Jeremy Reisman, editor-in-chief at Pride of Detroit, to break down the key matchups and players to watch as the Bills look to prevail in a potential Super Bowl preview.
After discussing the state of the Lions, we explore the similarities in coaching styles between Sean McDermott and Dan Campbell to see where the coaches are similar in their approach and where they differ. Shifting gears to Detroit's offense, we discuss what Jared Goff does so well, why he's the perfect QB for the Lions and how his pre-snap rituals are so essential to set up this offense for success. Goff is proficient at making sure he's got the right protections and knows where his hot routes are, and because of all that pre-snap work, he makes running Detriot's offense look easy. Goff can hit his timing routes over the middle of the field and isn't afraid to uncork an accurate deep ball, and he loves to connect with talented WRs like Amon-Ra St. Brown over the middle or Jameson Williams either on a crossing pattern or on a deep ball. Because Goff gets rid of the ball so quickly, it makes it difficult for defenses that want to blitz, because Goff will easily find the open receiver. The key to stopping Goff? Generating pressure with the front four while dropping seven into coverage.
Detroit also boasts one of the best offensive lines in the league, and defensive coordinator Bobby Babich and the Bills are going to have their hands full trying to contain St. Brown, Williams, TE Sam LaPorta and dual-threat RBs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. One major difference between last year and this year is Goff has improved at taking the check-down passes to his backs, Gibbs and Montgomery, who are skilled at making defenders miss in space. Gibbs and Montgomery are two of the better RBs at creating yards after contact, and they benefit running behind talented linemen like RT Penei Sewell, RG Kevin Zeitler, and center Frank Ragnow.
Defensively, the Lions are the walking wounded, with 13 players on IR, including DEs Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport and LB Alex Anzalone and Derrick Barnes. Despite the injuries, the Lions have still won 10 straight, possess one of the best third-down defenses and are getting healthier down the stretch. Reisman says edge defender Josh Paschal seems the most likely to return, and that DTs DJ Reader and Levi Onwuzurike could also return. We discuss how the Lions like to make opposing offenses one-dimensional, how it should be a fun matchup between Buffalo's second-ranked pass offense vs. Detroit's No. 1 pass defense, and how the defensive backs and safeties—led by Kerby Joseph, Terrion Arnold—have fueled the league’s second-best scoring defense. One way to attack is through the run game, and if James Cook, Ray Davis, and Ty Johnson can be successful, that could set the stage for Josh Allen to find open receivers downfield. While Detroit doesn't surrender a lot of big passing plays, they are vulnerable on outside/boundary passes, which could position Amari Cooper, Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid, and Mack Hollins for big receiving days.
We close by offering up score predictions as the Bills look to rebound from their worst defensive performance of the year.

  • The Buffalo Bills (10-2) have won their last seven games to clinch their fifth straight AFC East title, but the team still has plenty to play for, beginning on Sunday, when Buffalo travels to take on the Los Angeles Rams (6-6) in a battle of playoff teams from last year.
This week on the Billieve podcast, host John Boccacino gets you ready for the game, previewing the key matchups and players to watch as the Bills look to keep pace with the Kansas City Chiefs in the race for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
The Bills have the AFC’s longest winning streak and have scored 30 or more points in six straight games, while the Rams are mired in the middle of the pack in the race for an NFC playoff spot. But the Rams are a sneaky good opponent.
I discuss how QB Matthew Stafford directs a dangerous offense that features plenty of short passes to talented WRs Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, how RB Kyren Williams is a difference-maker who will challenge the Bills’ run defense, why one of the best matchups to watch should be Nacua going up against Christian Benford, how RBs James Cook and Ray Davis should be able to run at will, why Los Angeles’ physical offensive line will present a tough test for DTs Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones, how Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott can join an elite group of NFL coaching royalty with a win, and more!
How well Buffalo can execute the pass and how well the Rams can defend the pass will play a large role in determining who wins. Coming into this game the Rams rank 22nd in Pass Defense DVOA (+13.2%). They have a nice safety duo in Kam Curl and Quentin Lake, but they fare better closer to the line of scrimmage than when lined up deep. Slot WR Khalil Shakir should be able to take advantage and do damage over the middle. On the outside, Cobie Durant and Darious Williams are liabilities. Look for Amari Cooper, Mack Hollins and, if he is cleared to return, Keon Coleman to feast on the boundary.
The strength of the Rams defense is in the trenches, where youngsters like DEs Byron Young and Jared Verse and DTs Braden Fiske and Kobie Turner each have at least 4.5+ sacks. This will be another strong test for a Buffalo offensive line that has played well this year. Josh Allen has been sacked only 13 times this year (3.52% of drop backs). The Bills should be able to run at will on the Rams, who have given up 4.6 yards per attempt, good for 21st in the NFL. If the Rams bring a ton of pressure, which they probably will, look for Allen to exploit that by taking off and scampering for valuable yards on the ground.
Taron Johnson, Christian Benford, Rasul Douglas, Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin form one of the best pass defenses in the NFL, and are built to slow down potent pass offenses like the Rams. Nacua is a physical matchup nightmare for any DB, and Kupp is an elite route runner. One way to help is to get after Stafford, who has been pressured on 23.3% of drop backs and sacked 28 times. The Rams offensive line has been inconsistent and their weakest link is center with Bo Limmer, a 2024 sixth-rounder. Look for DTs Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones to attack Limmer, and perhaps we’ll see more blitzes from LBs Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard. RB Kyren Williams is a handful as a runner and pass-catcher, but Buffalo's defense has specialized in bending but not breaking. If the Bills can ground Williams, it could be an easy win for Buffalo.
I run through a few Bills and Rams players to watch, break down a few keys to victory and close by offering up score predictions as the Bills look to extend their win streak to eight games.

  • In this episode of Jamie D & Big Newt, Jamie D'Amico and Big Chris Newton break down the Buffalo Bills’ dominant 35-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers. The Bills leaned on their ground game, led by James Cook, who had another stellar performance. Meanwhile, Josh Allen delivered what Big Newt calls his “Heisman Moment,” becoming the first quarterback since 1970 to record a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown in the same game.

The hosts then tackle the big question: Is this Bills team capable of winning the Super Bowl? With Vegas giving Buffalo the best odds in the AFC, Jamie and Big Newt lay out the evidence pointing to the Bills being the top contenders to hoist the Lombardi Trophy this season.

Looking ahead, they discuss the implications of the Bills’ upcoming matchups. If Buffalo can take care of business against the Rams on Sunday, the following week’s showdown with the Detroit Lions could be a statement game.

The discussion heats up as the hosts dive into the AFC playoff picture, where the Bills are battling the Chiefs and Steelers for the coveted number one seed. • The Buffalo Bills (8-2) have won their last five games to take a five-game lead in the AFC East, but they have their toughest test of the year when the undefeated, two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (9-0) come to Orchard Park Sunday afternoon for the NFL's game of the year.
This week on the Billieve podcast, host John Boccacino gets you ready for Sunday’s showdown, which features two of the NFL's best QBs and the two winningest franchises over the last five regular seasons. The hype has been building for this game ever since the schedule was released, and this game appears to be one that should live up to the hype. This matchup could very well be a playoff preview as these two teams have met in three of the last four postseasons.
Buffalo is looking to extend its winning streak to six games and would love nothing more than to knock the Chiefs from their perch as the last undefeated team in the league. On the podcast, we discuss how, despite the fact that Kansas City is undefeated, they have overcome plenty of mistakes along the way and have been far from flawless in winning their first nine games of the year. We also revisit the Mahomes/Allen rivalry, as this will be their eighth career matchup. Allen is 3-1 in the regular season but 0-3 in the playoffs, and explore how, if the Bills want to claim the No. 1 seed in the AFC and home field throughout the playoffs, they need to find a way to beat the Chiefs.
We examine what it would mean for the Bills offense to have WR Amari Cooper and starting right tackle Spencer Brown on the field, how Cooper's return would improve the potency of Buffalo's offense and free WR Khalil Shakir to continue doing damage over the middle of the field, and how, regardless of who starts at RT, they will face a problematic matchup when going against talented DE George Karlaftis, who leads the Chiefs in sacks (4.0) and is second on the team in pressure rate (11.2 percent).
We run through the keys to a Bills victory, including how head coach Sean McDermott needs to continue to make critical second-half adjustments and how Buffalo's offensive line needs to find a way to slow down Karlaftis and fellow DE Chris Jones. We also explain why Cooper, RB James Cook, C Connor McGovern, LB Terrel Bernard, CBs Christian Benford and Rasul Douglas, and DE A.J. Epenesa are among the Bills who need to step up and make a difference on Sunday, and how Jones, TE Travis Kelce, RB Kareem Hunt, LT Wanya Morris, and CB Trent McDuffie are among the difference-makers for the Chiefs.
I close by offering up score predictions as the Bills look to remain undefeated at home in 2024 and take a massive step toward claiming the top seed in the AFC.

  • In this episode of Jamie D & Big Newt, Jamie D'Amico and Big Chris Newton cover everything from high school heartbreak to the Buffalo Bills’ season-defining stretch.

The episode opens with Big Newt reflecting on his son Jalen’s high school football team’s heartbreaking semifinal loss—a reminder of how tough and emotional the sport can be at any level.

The conversation shifts to the Bills, who are 8-2 but have shown a tendency for slow starts and costly mistakes early in games. Jamie and Big Newt explore how this reflects on the coaching staff and why the Bills have consistently been a second-half team.

Josh Allen’s uneven performance against the Colts is another hot topic. While he came through when it mattered most, the hosts question how much interceptions really matter and debate what it takes for a team to overcome turnover issues. They also compare Allen to Cam Newton, sparking a lively debate over which player has had the more impactful career.

The hosts then discuss the Bills’ newly signed defensive linemen, Quinton Jefferson and Jordan Phillips, who are already making their presence felt. Their contributions could be critical as the Bills face the toughest part of their schedule.

Finally, Jamie and Big Newt look ahead to the highly anticipated matchup against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, a game with massive implications for AFC playoff seeding and home-field advantage. They debate just how important this game is for the Bills’ Super Bowl aspirations and what it will take for them to pull off the upset.

Tune in for a mix of thoughtful analysis, spirited debates, and heartfelt moments in another must-listen episode of Jamie D & Big Newt!

  • The Buffalo Bills (7-2) have won their last four games to take a four-game lead in the AFC East, but if they want to run their streak to five, the Bills must defeat a scrappy and resilient Indianapolis Colts (4-5) squad, with a depleted wide receiver room and in a place where Buffalo hasn’t won since 1998.
This week on the Billieve podcast, host John Boccacino gets you ready for Sunday’s game, which is a sneaky tough road game against a Colts squad that is the first team in NFL history to have played all one-possession games through Week 9.
The Bills are 21st in the NFL in sack percentage, 23rd in pressure percentage, tied for 25th in yards allowed per rush, and tied for 26th in most rushes of at least 10 yards allowed. We know the Bills won’t blitz much, so the front four has to get home because while Colts QB Joe Flacco may be a statue in the pocket, if he has time, he can still pick a defense apart. With four-time Pro Bowl center Ryan Kelly on injured reserve, two rookies, C Tanor Bortolini and undrafted free agent RG Dalton Tucker, will start up front. This would be the time for DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver to terrorize the rookies with pressure up the middle. Led by RB Jonathan Taylor and guard Quenton Nelson, the Colts like to run the ball and the Bills struggled to stop the run in their win over the Dolphins. Taylor is averaging 4.8 yards per attempt and 83.7 yards per game and has also averaged 10 yards per catch as a receiver.
Buffalo’s safety duo of Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin will be tested against a Colts team that can and will hit the deep ball. The primary deep weapon is Alec Pierce, who has the highest yards-per-catch average in the NFL (22.9). Josh Downs is an up-and-coming possession receiver out of the slot who leads the Colts with 38 catches and 22 first downs, and even if true WR1 Michael Pittman is sidelined, Pierce, Downs, Adonai Mitchell, Mo Allie-Cox and Taylor are formidable receiving options. Look for nickel cornerback Taron Johnson to step up and have a big game against Downs and in coverage against Taylor.
The Bills are at their best when Josh Allen takes what the defense gives him, which should be the case on Sunday. If the Colts play zone to protect against deep shots, Allen should thrive with ample opportunities available underneath to Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, Curtis Samuel, James Cook, and Ray Davis. LB Zaire Franklin leads the NFL in tackles (95), but he's also a liability in pass coverage as he has allowed 32 completions on 37 passes (86.5%) for 294 yards this year. Allen relied on Cook and Davis in the passing game last week, and I expect more of the same vs. the Colts. With the Bills short-handed at WR, look for Buffalo to run plenty of 12 personnel (one back and two tight ends), with Kincaid potentially enjoying a breakout performance. Buffalo should also be able to run the ball on an Indy defense that is allowing nearly 150 rushing yards, 31st in the NFL.
The Colts like to alternate between base and nickel, and CB Kenny Moore is their best cover man. OC Joe Brady would be wise to attack outside when Moore is in the slot and utilize Shakir and Kincaid over the middle when Moore is on the boundary. Indy’s defensive line is led by DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart, who will challenge LG David Edwards, C Connor McGovern, and RG O’Cyrus Torrence. That trio needs to provide a clean pocket to allow Allen to find his open receivers.
I close by offering up score predictions as the Bills look to remain undefeated at home in 2024.

With the Bills now sitting at 7-2, the hosts break down the key moments, including two controversial holding penalties against Buffalo—though they don’t entirely agree with each other on the calls.

Jamie also raises concerns about Josh Allen’s 4th-quarter accuracy, wondering if the star quarterback might be dealing with an injury that affected his throws.

  • This is a big milestone in the history of the Billieve Podcast, as we are celebrating our 300th episode since launching in 2018. Who better to welcome on as our guest this week to both reminisce about our podcasting milestone and preview the Buffalo Bills' Week 9 clash vs. the Miami Dolphins than John Boccacino's longtime cohost, Jamie D'Amico?
Boccacino and D'Amico start off the episode by taking a stroll down memory lane, discussing the launch of Billieve, which helped establish the Buffalo Rumblings family of podcasts. After reliving some of their favorite memories from their time cohosting the podcast together, Boccacino and D'Amico reminisce about their first in-person meeting, which happened during a tailgate before Buffalo's Week 7 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Moving onto the matchup with Miami, Boccacino and D'Amico discussed why the Bills have had success limiting the big-play ability of Dolphins' WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and analyzed QB Tua Tagovaiola’s return from his latest concussion, including why his penchant for getting rid of the ball quickly can be problematic for opposing defenses, but historically not the Bills.
We heaped praise onto several unheralded members of Buffalo's defense who have stepped up and taken on larger roles over the past couple of weeks, discussed how the Bills run defense has really turned a corner, examined the challenge the Bills will face in trying to slow down speedy RB Devon Achane and the Miami screen game, and explained how Buffalo will be getting some defensive reinforcements back over the coming weeks and how that will aid this team in the long run.
On the other side of the ball, our hosts shared how QB Josh Allen has historically owned the Dolphins in his career, winning 12 of 14 matchups while passing for 3,854 passing yards with 37 touchdowns and adding five rushing touchdowns against Miami. We examined the continued emergence of RB James Cook and why this is a nice matchup for him, credit Buffalo's offensive line for evolving into a consistent unit that is one of the best in the league, dissect WR Keon Coleman's recent breakthrough, and discuss offense coordinator Joe Brady's play-calling creativity from last week and how important it is for the Bills to deploy WR Khalil Shakir in presnap motion.
We close by offering up score predictions as the Bills look to pick up their fourth straight win and sweep the season series with the Dolphins.

  • Jamie D'Amico and Big Chris Newton dive into the latest Buffalo Bills news, starting with James Cook’s standout performance. Cook put up big numbers on the ground, with the Bills' inside and mid-zone running schemes firing on all cylinders. Jamie and Big Newt break down how the offensive line's dominant play has been a key factor in opening up the run game and adding a new dimension to the offense.

The hosts then shift focus to Josh Allen’s MVP chances. With Allen’s recent performances, Jamie and Big Newt discuss whether he’s back in the MVP conversation, while Big Newt shares his take on whether Lamar Jackson deserves a third MVP award. Newton doesn’t hold back, suggesting Jackson shouldn't be considered until he captures a Super Bowl.

Next, Keon Coleman’s impressive catches are in the spotlight. Coleman is steadily becoming a reliable target, showing promise as a key piece of the Bills’ passing attack.

Looking ahead, Jamie and Big Newt preview the upcoming game against the Miami Dolphins, where Tua Tagovailoa’s return adds a new element. They question whether Tua can change Miami’s fortunes or if the Bills will continue their dominance in the division.

In a more serious moment, they discuss Tua’s concussion history and the complexities surrounding his decision to keep playing. The hosts explore the role his family might play in his choices, debating the long-term effects of repeated injuries, as well as their concerns about brain injuries in youth sports

Tune in for an episode packed with game analysis, MVP debates, and thought-provoking discussion about player health and family influence.

  • The Buffalo Bills (5-2) are seeking their third straight victory when they travel to Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks (4-3) on Sunday afternoon in a matchup of first-place teams. This is Buffalo's first trip to the Pacific Northwest since the 2016 season. To get you ready for the game, on this week’s episode of the Billieve podcast, we're joined by Mookie Alexander, who covers the Seahawks as Team Community Producer and Managing Editor for the SB Nation website, Field Gulls.
We start by discussing the state of the Seahawks, including what happened to the home-field advantage Seattle used to enjoy thanks to their 12th Man. From 2010 to 2016, the Seahawks went 48-13 at home, but since 2017, they are only 29-24 and have lost two straight home games heading into their showdown with Buffalo.
We examine the career resurgence QB Geno Smith has experienced in Seattle after flaming out as a second-round draft pick of the New York Jets in 2013. Smith leads the NFL in passing yards per game (283.6) and has been an effective QB despite his misleading TD-to-INT ratio (8 TDs with 6 INTs). Smith and the Seahawks are averaging 25.7 points per game, tied for eighth-best in the NFL, despite Smith playing behind an injured offensive line that has allowed him to be pressured on 36% of his dropbacks. As the 28th-ranked offensive line according to Pro Football Focus, the Seahawks are missing several starters, and this is a unit that has struggled with pass protection. Greg Rousseau, who has been dominant against RTs this year, should be in line for a huge game.
We explore the weapons around Smith, including RB Kenneth Walker III, who has battled injuries and inconsistency but could be in line for a big game against a Buffalo defense that is almost always light in the box with only two linebackers on the field, is surrendering 5.1 yards per rush (fourth-worst), and will be without starting LB Terrel Bernard. Alexander also provides the latest update on injured WR D.K. Metcalf, including how the loss of the explosive playmaker would be a major blow for Seattle, which, without Metcalf, would be banking on its possession WRs in Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and the unheralded TE Noah Fant, who has caught his last 21 targets.
Defensively, this is a Seahawks unit that can be scored upon. Seattle is surrendering 23.4 ppg. First-year head coach Mike MacDonald came to Seattle after making a name for himself as the Baltimore Ravens' defensive coordinator, a squad that caused Josh Allen and the Bills offense troubles in Week 4. We examine the similarities between what this defense likes to run—excelling with simulated pressure and is fourth in the NFL in pressure rate (40.4%) and ninth in sack percentage (8%)—and what the Baltimore defense did to confuse Allen.
The Seahawks are vulnerable on the ground, allowing 5 yards per carry, a good sign for James Cook, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson. This will be a big test for Buffalo, but we expect the Bills O-line to hold their own against Seattle. Another way the Seahawks are vulnerable is through the play-action pass. Could this be the week Allen breaks out a few play-action passes?
The addition of WR Amari Cooper immediately opened things up for Allen and the passing game last week vs. the Titans, and the expectation is Cooper will shoulder more of the responsibility this week. Watching WRs Cooper, Keon Coleman, and Khalil Shakir, along with TE Dalton Kincaid, go up against a talented Seahawks secondary, led by nickel CB Devon Witherspoon, is one of the key matchups to watch on Sunday.
We close by offering up score predictions as the Bills look to pick up a big road win.

  • In this episode of Jamie D & Big Newt, Jamie D'Amico and Big Chris Newton break down the Buffalo Bills’ convincing 34-10 win over the Tennessee Titans. The hosts discuss how Amari Cooper made an immediate impact in his Bills debut, helping open up the offense for other playmakers. Keon Coleman had his best game as a pro and Newton credits Cooper’s presence for creating opportunities for the other WRs, as well as QB Josh Allen's biggest day of 2024.

Additional topics include the Bills made critical halftime adjustments that turned the game around, and with this win look like the likely AFC East champs. Jamie and Big Newt rank the AFC contenders and speculate on how the playoff seedings might unfold as the season progresses.

Other key highlights include the impressive performance of RB Ray Davis, who continues to impress and could start cutting into James Cook's snap count.

On a more personal note, Jamie shares his experience attending the game at Highmark Stadium, where he soaked up the sun (and got sunburned in late October), met Dion Dawkins' mother, and tailgated with John Boccacino, host of the Billieve Podcast. Meanwhile, Big Newt watched the game from a Bills Backers bar in Richmond, VA, where he was recognized by a listener named Phillip.

    Non-football topics include:

The rising cost of attending games and how Buffalo has managed to maintain an affordable experience for fans—although personal seat licenses for the new stadium may change that.

The struggle of getting sunburn even in cold weather.

And, of course, a conversation about Big Newt's chicken wing consumption—because what’s a Bills discussion without wings?

Join Jamie and Big Newt for a fun, insightful episode as they invite listeners to hang out and talk football (and life) like old friends that they are.
