    Dr. Joseph Watso is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Cardiovascular & Applied Physiology (CAP) Laboratory at Florida State University in the Department of Health, Nutrition, and Food Sciences. With a focus on cardiovascular health and physiology, Dr. Watso leads research aimed at understanding and preventing cardiovascular disease, particularly in clinical populations such as those with obesity, hypertension, and older adults. His work also explores strategies to mitigate the impact of environmental stressors, like heatwaves, on heart and blood vessel health. Dr. Watso's research journey began as an undergraduate at Salisbury University's Laboratory for Human Performance (2013-2015). He later completed graduate research in the Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory at the University of Delaware (2015-2019), where he examined the effects of high dietary salt and dehydration on blood pressure regulation during exercise. As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (2019-2022), he led studies on how pain medications impact the nervous system, heart, and blood vessels, and contributed to research on cooling strategies for vulnerable populations.

    Passionate about science communication, Dr. Watso also writes to make cutting-edge health research accessible to the public. His mission is to bridge the gap between academic science and practical health advice, empowering people to better understand and improve their cardiovascular health. The long-term goal of the CAP Lab is to advance prevention and treatment strategies for cardiovascular disease and improve public health outcomes.     Dr. Scott Trappe is a renowned expert in human bioenergetics and muscle physiology, currently serving as the John and Janice Fisher Endowed Professor of Human Bioenergetics and the Director of the Human Performance Laboratory at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Trappe has made significant contributions to the fields of exercise science, aging, and space medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Northern Iowa, where he was also the captain of the swim team. He completed his graduate studies (MS) at the University of Colorado while working with US Swimming at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He received his PhD from Ball State University, studying under the esteemed Dr. David Costill, and completed post-doctoral training in muscle physiology with Dr. Robert Fitts at Marquette University. For over two decades, Dr. Trappe has collaborated with NASA to optimize exercise protocols for astronauts, ensuring their health and performance during space missions. His research has been instrumental in understanding muscle plasticity and the powerful effects of exercise on human health.

    Dr. Trappe has led numerous NIH-funded studies on exercise training in older adults, aging athletes, and elite athletes. He is a principal investigator for one of the human clinical centers in MoTrPAC, a nationwide consortium studying the health benefits of exercise through a comprehensive whole-body to gene approach.Throughout his career, Dr. Trappe has mentored many post-doctoral, doctoral, and master’s students, contributing to the next generation of scientists in exercise physiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and a member of the American Physiological Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

    Dr. Nick Tiller is a Research Associate at the Lundquist Institute, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and the acclaimed author of "The Skeptic's Guide to Sports Science," recognized as one of Book Authority's "Best Sports Science Books of All Time." With a strong background in exercise physiology and respiratory medicine, Dr. Tiller has made significant contributions to sports science, particularly in the fields of exercise physiology and respiratory research.

    Dr. Tiller began his career working with elite athletes and coaches at the Olympic Center in the UK. He earned his PhD in Applied Physiology (Respiratory) from Brunel University London, followed by academic positions as an Assistant and Associate Professor in the North of England. In 2019, he relocated to Los Angeles to continue his groundbreaking research at the renowned Lundquist Institute.   • In this episode of Run with Fitpage, we have the honour of speaking with Dr Kerry McGawley. Dr McGawley discusses all about female athlete physiology and helps in understanding the challenges female athletes face, along with our host, Vikas Singh.

    Kerry is a full professor of sports science at Mid Sweden University and the Swedish Winter Sports Research Centre, with a distinguished career focused on winter sports, particularly cross-country skiing and biathlon. As the senior manager of the female athlete program at Orreco, she is dedicated to advancing women in sport. Kerry leads a M.Sc. program in Sports Performance and Athlete Health and is deeply involved in high-performance sports coaching programs. Her research, conducted in collaboration with national and international sports organizations, has resulted in over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and several book chapters. In addition to her academic achievements, Kerry is an accomplished triathlete, having won multiple age-group World, European, and National championship titles. Her sporting journey began in football, where she played at high levels for teams like Millwall in London and the Western Australia State Team. Kerry's academic background includes a PhD focused on endurance exercise, with extensive experience working with elite athletes in Sweden. Now based in the UK, she continues her impactful research and passion for sports, making her a leading figure in both academia and athletics.

  • In this episode of Run with Fitpage, we have Deepak Raj, co-founder of Yoska, who is one of the leading triathletes in India with over 24 years of experience in endurance sports. Deepak discusses his journey of building Yoska and his work with the Ironman 70.3 Goa, with our host, Vikas Singh.

    Deepak has successfully completed 27 IRONMAN triathlons, which involve a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike ride, and 42.2 km run, making it one of the world's toughest endurance challenges. Deepak has represented India at the IRONMAN World Championships three times and is also a Boston Marathon qualifier. His journey from weighing over 95 kg to becoming an ambassador for triathlon in India is truly inspiring. His achievements include completing 13 full marathons, 6 half marathons, and earning a gold status in the All World IRONMAN Age Group rankings for 7 years.

    As a certified coach by IRONMAN University, Triathlon Australia, and the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers, Deepak has coached over 1,000 athletes globally, including marathon podium finishers, Ironman, and Ultraman triathletes. He also leads a team of 25 coaches, making Yoska one of the largest triathlon coaching clubs in India. Deepak’s expertise extends to being the CEO and co-founder of Yoska, a digital platform offering training programs for endurance sports. Yoska is the official franchise owner for IRONMAN in India and organized the first-ever IRONMAN 70.3 event in the country, with Deepak serving as the Race Director for IRONMAN 70.3 Goa.
