The Blades magical season is over. It was supposed to be our season, but guess it wasn't. We talk about the year, its pretty sad at the start... but gets really happy once voice of the Bombers and former voice of the Riders Derek Taylor joins the show. Talked a ton of CFL with him, and then a bunch of local tire pumping!

Ywo great halves of the podcast today! First.. Game 7. Blades vs Warriors. Biggest game in franchise history for both teams in the last 30 years probably. My boy Leroy joins the first half of the podcast to break it all down. The game, the fans, predictions, everything. Then, voice of the PWHL Daniella Ponticelli joins me to talk about the league, her long media journey to this point, doing PxP, and so much more. If you're a media nerd or a freelancer, this is a great listen!

Former Pats and Riders play-by-play man and current host of one of the coolest sports shows around, Rod Pedersen hangs out for a but to talk small town rinks, NHL, and a bunch of other Saskatchewan stuff. Ever since I started the Zamboni quest I've wanted to see what rinks in the province he enjoys! Lots of hockey talk, especially about the Blades/Warriors series... and probably my favourite/most enjoyable talk yet. I grew up with Jake Trask growing up here in Saskatoon. He was a BEAST at everything. One of the best baseball players I ever played with. Such a good guy who wasn't just that 'hockey guy'. When he got traded back here, we were all so pumped. It ended up being one of the best teams in franchise history. When you talk about todays team being the best ever, this id the team its uually compared too. Jake gave us a cool perspective on what exactly happened that season.

This Blades vs Warriors series has been so epic so far, talk of the town right now! We've got an awesome guest on the pod to talk about it. Jeff Hayes has been the PA announcer for the last 24 seasons, he has seen a lot of Blades hockey. We talk about the series so far, our predictions for how the rest is going to go, and some other good Sasaktoon stories. Then, another Saskatoon radio legend, Gary Nickel joins the show to breakdown the NHL playoffs.

One of the first guys to really showcase Saskatchewan in a funny but positive way. Love how he always leans into the quirky, glass half full side of things. He's Saskatchewan legend Leroy from 'Leroy and Leroy' and he joins the pod for the third installment of the Blades playoff preview extravangaza! Also, the old Hose and Hydrant gets a shout out for the facelift.

We're doing two episodes a week now! We talk about how the show will work going forward, plus a ton of sports. NHL playoffs, the Rush season, and of course Blades vs Warriors. Lots of food talk on the show this week too! Several local places get their tires pumped, and I talk about my two restaurant ideas that I think would be unreal in Saskatoon.
-
An epic sandwich draft with Saskatoon internet legend Jon Ostrander aka SANDWICH DAD! We also had a Saskatoon restaurant draft and talked about growing up in Saskatoon. The pizza delivery in the 90s talk got off the rails! Rush play-by-play guy Cody Janzen is also on the podcast this week. He talks about the big must-win game for the Rush this weekend, and goes into the team's up and down season so far. Threw in some Blades talk because what a seirs for the boys! Off to he 3rd round!

We go over the big 2 playoff wins for the Blades, who now have a 2-0 2nd round series lead... The huge win for the Rush on Saturday that made their playoff chances highly likely. We also look ahead at the big game against Toronto this week. We give the new voice of the Riders a big shout out, as well as the staff and crew at SaskTel Centre for an awesome job this weekend. We also talk some golf, some NHL hockey, and the best Dad beers.

Before Round 1, we had a player and some special guests on the podcast. It worked well for the Saskatoon Blades, so now we have to do it again! Big thanks to Blades foeward Brandon Lisowsky and voice of the Blades Les Lazaruk for being on the pod! He played for Canada's National Baseball Team in the 90's. He then returend home to start reffing football. In 2006 he got his fist shot in the CFL, and is now reffing Grey Cups and even NFL pre-season. My fake uncle Tim Kroeker joins the show for an awesome talk about baseball, growing up in Saskatoon, the challenges of being a ref, and some great CFL insight. We also managed some food talk in there as well!
My guy Justin Anderson from the 'Bat Flips and Maple Dips' Podcast also joined the show to talk about the Blue Jays early season struggles. Like Tim, he too is an official. He's been an ump in Saskatoon for 19 years and we talked about how to get more kids involved in umping... and yeah, tons of Jays talk!
As always, we talk about the Blades and Rush too, but saving a lot of stuff for the bonus episode later this week for them!

Lots of stuff planned for the 'Sask, Sports, & Food' podcast in the coming episodes. But for the first one I just wanted to let people know what went on last year, what's going on with my new job, what kind of adventures I have planned... This is kind of a 'setup' episode. Plus, Les Lazaruk stops by and talks about the best team in the WHL, the Saskatoon Blades.
