Episode 113 wherein Kev discovers that he has a pretty valuable 7 incher on his hands. ON his hands, not in his hands. Get yer minds out of the gutter. That's later..... Anyway, there's all the usual shenanigans from all the usual suspects and we just have to keep winning pucks in the corners and getting shots to the net and if we just execute the game plan and give our goalie a chance, I'm sure we'll sports better than the other team sportses and emerge victorious! It's been a long day, this is all I've got.
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it āThereās no living in my life any moreā or possibly āQueen forever more!ā
Today's episode looks at a Freddie's soaringly beautiful interlude on Side Black of Queen II, "Nevermore"
NOTE: Skip forward to 21:48 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The song at the end of the episode is the lead track from Randy Woods Band's second album. It's a little number called "Alphabet City". You can check it out here : https://youtu.be/nPPzvp-5hJU
If you want to listen to the piano cover that we played a little of in the episode, you can find that here: https://youtu.be/5Nd4pBsvrwc

If anyone is looking for Christmas gift ideas for The Cardinal, he'd love a 1967 Gretsch White Falcon. Or, if you have a way of acquiring one, one of Jimi Hendrix's Strats. And if you want to start receiving these episodes by tape cassette, what in the hell is wrong with you? (But, Kev is somewhat serious about doing a limited run!) We talk about wandering around Belfast armed, why cold is sometimes just cold, and how exactly did Queen write such a banger with barely any guitar involvement!
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it āIām having such a good timeā, or possibly, āIām having a ballā
Today's episode looks at a Freddie song that has been streamed over 2 billion times on Spotify and isn't Bohemian Rhapsody; "Don't Stop Me Now"
NOTE: Skip forward to 21:48 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The song at the end of the episode is the utterly brilliant "Disenfranchised You" from Randy Woods Band's debut album. You can check it out here : https://youtu.be/nPPzvp-5hJU
If you want to listen to the piano cover that we played a little of in the episode, you can find that here: https://youtu.be/LrQnnhAXLt0

Did you know that Randy went to hitman school? How about the fact that Kev feels that consistency is key when it comes to being an asshole. We also discuss what type of music a psychopath might listen to and what music we've been listening to other than Queen. The Cardinal is complaining about football again and Kev is frankly getting a little tired of his whining! I don't know if this partnership is going to last!
If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "This song is brill" or possibly, "Hitman school"
Today's episode looks at a Freddie song that was assisted by Brian and John and taken from the Innuendo album; "The Hitman"
NOTE: Skip forward to 23:47 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The song at the end of the episode is a very rough mix of Kev, his brother Dan, and his Dad, John, playing a White Stripes song back in 2016. It was recorded remotely and then shoved into Dropbox to mix. Very badly. This one should probably go to the Cardinal at some point to be reworked... but anyway, it's a bit of lo-fi fun and it's titled "Effect and Cause" and you can find it here : https://youtu.be/SRRD-m43xrg
If you want to listen to the song The Delegator's brilliant cover of Nowhere to Run you can find it here: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=E3p7yDec38o and if you want to watch the clip Kev was talking about of Mike Portnoy playing Shake It Off, you'll find that here: https://youtu.be/cHl_gsd0OR0

You know that saying "Go big or go home"? What if you were to do both? Well, that's what Queen attempted with the final track on The Miracle. They fired up the old Kurzweil, made Roger play a real drum kit and, if you can believe it, actually sat in a room as a band and recorded this one together. One of our listeners really sticks the boot in, so we return it in kind, and Randy is pondering an SPR move into the political sphere. It's not a good idea. At all. Plus, Ruddy has a question for us and we think you'll like it!
If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Not sure how I feel about the old Kurzweil" or possibly, "I hope Freddie thought it was worth it"
Today's episode looks at the final track on The Miracle, with Freddie wondering, "Was It All Worth It".
NOTE: Skip forward to 21:54 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The music at the end of the episode is taken from UK show, The Last Leg and features Alex Horne and The Horne Section singing a soulful, nostalgic song about the simple country life. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/74UZNexK8a4

We're gonna test the theory that you guys will listen to us talk about anything..... over lunch.
Episode one is recorded on location at the rough and ready (and perfectly cromulent) Amigos Cantina at 806 Dufferin Ave, Saskatoon. Tex Mex was eaten, craft beer was consumed, and we set the world mainly to rights! It was bitterly, bitterly cold the day we went so being inside with warm food and warm company was a real blessing!
The music at the end of the episode is Randy's fever dream; "Lunch" from the Randy Woods Band's second album, Soul Hammer. You can listen to it here: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=g_WmpRVO2-s&list=OLAK5uy_lEMqgV14pku-lI3hwP8kcZsRl8ncR6jMY

Chappperrrrzzzzzzzz!!!!!
Look, weāre not gonna tell you how to live your lives, but really, if youāre watching a sport that needs music to be played all the way through as a distraction, is this a good use of your time? Well. Is it? Randyās back from the desert, Kevās in from the cold, Rogerās ready for a night on the town, and Bri has his stank knob dialled up to ten. So shoot and get your suit, cos weāre talkinā Queen!
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it āPrime Jiveā or possibly āGet Dowwwwwwnā.
Today's episode looks at another Roger track and he's singing about rock n roll again! It's time for Rock It (Prime Jive)!!!
NOTE: Skip forward to 21:02 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The late great Tom Petty once said āI hate to generalize on a whole genre of music, but it does seem to be missing that magic element that it used to have.ā Well, sometimes you just gotta shake things up and when the old bop is getting tired and needs a rest, you know what you gotta do. Get your leathers on bryl creme up that hair and flip a quarter into the jukebox, cos weāre talkinā Queen!
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Modern Times Rock n Roll" or possibly "Oldy timey washboard and fiddle"
Today's episode looks at Roger's first contribution to Queen, "Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll".
NOTE: Skip forward to 16:47 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

Well, what were the chances of that? We spun two Struts songs in a row! Kev and Randy are starting to suspect they've been duped into producing a Young and Dangerous Podcast! Also, there's a lot more talk about Kev's dental regime than you might have expected...
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Young and Dangerous", or possibly, "Adult and Cautious".
The ninth episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers another song from The Struts 2018 album, "Young and Dangerous". Two in a row!!! This week we're covering the melancholic ballad "Somebody New", courtesy of our pal Midwife Nicki. I you haven't heard it, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/ZWQ_ES92Y2c

There is no tumescence. There is just floppy. HEY! It's not what you think! Look, it'll make a lot more sense once you listen to the episode... Look, all I was saying was that the chef made a meal a certain way so before you start slathering it with all sorts of condiments, maybe give it a quick taste and see if what the chef did was actually pretty fucking good, OK?!?! Geez! You wouldn't go adding lines to Shakespear now would you!
If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "This song needs life support" or possibly, "That made my ears not care"
Today's episode looks at a Deacy song that was a B Side during the Miracle sessions and was resurrected during the Made In Heaven sessions. We don't know why. Your guess is as good as ours!
NOTE: Skip forward to 20:47 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The music at the end of the episode is "My Little Buttercup" from the movie "Three Amigos!" and you can find it here: https://youtu.be/T6wetejGqh0

The increase of disorder or entropy is what distinguishes the past from the future, giving a direction to time. Thatās according to noted layabout and robot impersonator Stephen Hawking. So I wouldnāt take any advice from that guy! You know who does know about time though? Brian Harold May, thatās who! Set your watches and dust off the old sundial, cos weāre talkinā Queen!
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it āHurry, Hurry, Hurry, Hurryā, or possibly, āYouāre Dead!ā
Today's episode looks at Brian's blazing rocker that everyone else hated and refused to play live; "Dead On Time", the jazziest song on Jazz!
NOTE: Skip forward to 15:15 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

Thank fuck it's Boxing Day! How's everyone doing? Mince pies all hoovered up by the dog? Grandma not speaking to Auntie Jan because of the incident with the Christmas crackers? How about them Jets??? Look, it's that time of year. You can overindulge, listen to shitty music, and just damn well enjoy yourself! That's what we've been doing this Christmastime, even if Randy isn't at all convinced about the legitimacy of that word! We pick our top five Christmas songs - and there's NO OVERLAP - and talk about songs we're not as keen on... 2024 has been a monumental year for us and we're grateful that you've all come along with us on this wild, wild ride. We'd like to sincerely and honestly say, from the bottom of our hearts, with no reservation, hesitation, or qualms of any type, to please, go fuck yourselves. Where's the tylenol.....?
If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Christmas a la fromage" or possibly "Merry Christmas Queenies!"
Today's episode looks at Queen's Christmas song; "Thank God It's Christmas"
NOTE: Skip forward to 29:38 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

Today's episode looks at arguably the best dead cat song in the rock n roll canon; "All Dead, All Dead"
NOTE: Skip forward to 15:32 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

Man, the last time I had to do this intro, we were talking about Pain Is So Close To Please! Why am I getting the non-rockers from A Kind of Magic all of a sudden? Oh well, itās all still Queen, right? You have to love everything to call yourself a real fan. Hey I donāt make the rules, thatās what the gatekeepers decided! Wanna smash that gate down with us? Cool. Weāre talkinā Queen!
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Friends Will Be Friends Will Be Friends", or possibly "Friends don't let Friends listen to this pish!"
Today's episode looks at the last track on Side A of "A Kind Of Magic" That's right folks, we had to spin it some time and we've spun it today. "Friends Will Be Friends".

We're back baby! Now, let's see if we can remember how this works... we have to spin a donut, or a coin, or something like that. We have to pull up wikileaks, and talk about the Queen, then ask a bunch of Poles what they think of the song we just listened to that the Queen sang... Hmm, this sounds ridiculous even by our standards. Oh well, what could possibly go wrong. Old Johnny Two Hats and his trusty sidekick are back to guide you through the dazzlingly eclectic catalogue of Queen (the band, not the decomposing monarch...)
If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "One leg? No worries, you're fine", or possibly "Go fuck yourself Norm Sheffield!"
Today's episode looks at a classic Queen opener. It's the mean, the moody, the magnificent "Death on Two Legs" from 1975's titanic "A Night at the Opera". Dig it!
NOTE: Skip forward to 16:43 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

We finally spun up a Sarah Chapman song and it was one that neither Kev nor Randy had heard before. We listened to the recess monkeys, we chatted about Chiliwack, Randy discovered a fashion connection between Luke Spiller and Freddie Mercury and we had a good old time listening to some loud, sweaty rack and roll!
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Don't bore us", or possibly, "Get to the chorus".
The eighth episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers the last single from The Struts 2018 album, "Young and Dangerous", the short and schnappy "In Love With a Camera". I you haven't heard it, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/W1BLo1sSMyA

Yo! We're back with another Kofi ep peepils! It's a strange one. Like, really quite strange. It's by a band we knew nothing about and still know very little about! This week's song was requested by David A Wilson, who let me know in advance that it was a weird song! Did I mention that this one is a little off-kilter?
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Angry kitty, mad kitty, little ball of hate", or possibly, "Like a big old baby".
The seventh episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers "Held", the first single from 1999's "Knock Knock", by SMOG. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/Mzvs7Lt7C70
If you want to get involved in the Kofi Klub, you can make a donation here: https://ko-fi.com/seasidepodreview and let us know which song you want us to add to the wheel! We also have a private channel in our Discord community for donors. Don't forget that all donations in the month of November will be donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust!
The song in the research break and at the end is "Meine Mutter", by the German experimental trio KĆ¼nstliche Dummheit. The single and it's alternate version are not currently released and was sent to Kev by a friend for inclusion.

This is the last episode we recorded while the Cardinal was in Winnipeg a few weeks back and concludes the epic Randy-does-his-laundry-during-the-pod narrative trilogy! This week's song was requested by Chrissy AKA The Waters of Love! Randy was really familiar with the song and Kev was pretty sure he'd never heard it, so how will this one shake out???
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "I don't know why sometimes I get frightened" or possibly, "Spiders. It's definitely spiders".
The sixth episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers Neil Finn's first solo writing credit, "I Got You". You can find it here: https://youtu.be/wiqBlKnb91A

The song at the end is a superb cover of Highway Star, mashed up with One Man Dynamo, by Randy Woods Band. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/pLRrwvoIl_8

"My baby what? Does me? Are you sure? Good? She does me good you say? Well, that doesn't sound awful. Wait, what, that's the lyrics of the new song???? That doesn't sound great mate. Can we maybe run it by Bri and Rog and see what... OK OK. Yeh, I can probably play some sort of bassline to this. We're gonna just use this drum loop as a bed track until Rog comes.... oh? Really? I mean, he's coming in this afternoon, he could.... OK Fred. Your call!"
If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it āMy baby does meā or possibly, āTurn it down a bit please!ā
Today's episode looks at the erm... the... it's... look... well... it's "My Baby Does Me" from "The Miracle" OK. It was gonna come up some time, we'll just get through it and move on.
NOTE: Skip forward to 16:43 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The music at the end of the episode is "Faded American" by Randy Woods Band and you can find it here: https://youtu.be/jjT1fsuj7yE

This one was recorded while the Cardinal was in Winnipeg a few weeks back and Kev is sick, so we figured we'd drop this one to keep you entertained (for a given value of entertainment obviously) This week's song was requested by Matt Greenham! Neither Kev nor Randy really know what metalcore is and it's safe to say that this one isn't in their typical listening rotation, but will they champion or dust this one?
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Parkway to Heaven?" or possibly, "Until I Die".
The fifth episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers the title track from Parkway Drive's 2022 release, "Darker Still". You can find it here: https://youtu.be/tEtO2yaX304

Episode One Hundred? Who'd have ever imagined we'd get this far? Who would ever have imagined that Randy would still be willing to sit down and listen to Kev fanboy about Queen every week? Who'd have ever thought that a man with a peanut for a brain and a face painted with deck stain would have a realistic chance of being President of the US. Again. Well, we'll take it! Except the last bit. Fuck that guy!
This week it's a doozy and you know we're gonna be talking Live Killers!
If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Are you not entertained" or possibly, "I'll use any device"
Today's episode looks at the bombastic, fantastic, orgasmic "Let Me Entertain You", which closes out Side A of 1978's "Jazz".
NOTE: Skip forward to 25:42 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The music at the end of the episode is "No Good (For You)" by Kev Brown You can find it here! https://youtu.be/XvFVXET1qRo
