Amberle's vision comes to life in the form of The Changeling. The Chosen are massacred while under guard at Arbolon - Arion blames that Gnomes, Allanon informs him that he's wrong. And in fact, the enemy is much more dangerous than any group of Gnomes. Amberle comes face-to-face with a Troll while alone in the wild. Arion seeks the throne, but is denied by his father. Arion Elessedil is portrayed in Elfstones as a self-absorbed, condescending, glory-chaser (my words not Terry Brooks’). So the Arion we find in The Shannara Chronicles appears to fit the literary mould.In the episode text he approaches Allanon sword drawn and demanding to know how he got into the throne room

Readers Note 1. in Terry Brooks’ “Armageddon’s Children” it is alluded to that the weaponry deployed during the Great War was so destructive in nature that the Earth’s surface itself was terraformed by the fighting.
End Readers Note 1.Readers Note 2. in the Elfstones of Shannara we discover through Allanon that the (Blue) Elfstones must be given freely to another person if their power is to be called upon and utilised. It’s also important to note that Shey Ohmsford is Wil’s Grand Father in Elfstones of Shannara, and from the novel’s text we find they had a less troubled relationship than in The Shannara Chronicles.
End Readers Note 2.Readers Note 3. in the Sword of Shannara we discover that Flick Ohmsford is depicted as a both skeptical and easily worried character, yet he has deep and unwavering concern for his family, and bravery born of stubborn-persistence. And we also find that Shey Ohmsford shared the same skepticism of magic and tales of evil as Wil now does.

We learn about the formation of the Ellcrys, and the Demons that it holds back. The choice of music and sound design. Why Ruelle's "Until We Go Down" is a near perfect choice for Shannara. We look at the fall of the Old World, The Great Wars, and the rise of the new races-of-man (humans, dwarves, gnomes and trolls). We discuss the Griffin-esque statues that populate an entire scene and what they might mean for the show going forward.
