Lesson 63:
[THE ESSENCE OF IMAAN AND THE RULING REGARDING THOSE WHO COMMIT MAJOR SINS]
Amongst the fundamentals of Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jama'ah is that religion and Imaan comprise speech and deeds: speech of the heart and the tongue and deeds of the heart, tongue, and limbs.

Lesson 62:
The servants literally work their deeds and Allah is the creator of their deeds.
The term servant refers to the believer and the disbeliever, the righteous and the wicked, the one who prays and the one who fasts. The servants have power over their actions and they have their own will and Allah is their creator and the creator of their power and will. As Allah, the Most High, says: 'To whoever among you wishes to go straight. But you will not will unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the worlds.' [al-Takweer: 28-29]
This category of decree is denied by the generality of the Qadariyyah - those whom the Prophet ﷺ called the Magians of this Ummah. A group of those who affirm (the decree) went to extremes with regarding this, divesting the servant of any power or will and stripping the actions and rulings of Allah of their wisdom and benefits.

Lesson 61:
Despite all this, He has ordered the servants to obey Him and His Messengers, and He has prohibited them from disobeying Him. He, Glorious is He, loves those who ward off evil, those who do good and those who are just. He is pleased with those who believe and do righteous deeds. He does not love the disbelievers and is not pleased with the transgressors. He does not command indecency, He is not pleased that his servants disbelieve, and He does not love corruption.

Lesson 60:
As for the second category: It deals with the will of Allah as it is executed and His all-inclusive ability. This is to believe that whatever Allah wills will happen and whatever He does not will, will not. It is to believe that any movement or stillness that takes place in the heavens or on earth occurs only by the will of Allah, Glorious is He. Nothing happens in His dominion that He does not will. He, Glorious is He, has full power over all that exists and all that does not exist. There is no creation on earth or in heaven except that Allah, Glorious is He, is its creator. There is no creator beside Him and there is no Lord other than Him.

Lesson 59:
Therefore, whatever befalls man would never have missed him, and whatever missed him would never have befallen him. The pens have dried and the scrolls have been folded. As Allah says: 'Did you not know that Allah knows everything in the heaven and on earth? Verily,it is in a Book, that is easy for Allah.' [al-Hajj: 70]
And Allah also says: 'No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves, without it being in a Book before We make it happen. That is something easy for Allah.' [al-Hadeed: 22]
This decree - which ensues from His knowledge, Glorious is He - is recorded generally in some places and detailed in others. He has written whatever He wills in the Preserved Tablet, then when He creates the body of the fetus, before blowing the soul into it, He sends an angel to it who is ordered to write four things: his provision, his life span, his deeds, and if he is happy or miserable, and the like.
This level of decree was rejected by the extreme Qadariyah of old, but very few people reject it now.
