Dana Day is the Owner of Dana Build and Design in Tulsa. She’s an incredible person who is very passionate about what she does and that is evidenced throughout her 20 plus year career including being selected to appear in a series on HGTV, winning numerous accolades and more. I want to preface this episode by letting you know that this will be a two-part episode. During this visit, she’ll share insight into what led up to her changing careers and jumping into this industry; what she enjoys about it (hint: it has to do with the challenges), and the stigma of being a female in a male dominated business. However, she has also a purpose that is also very important to her and is looking to share it with others. It involves her sister, Leslie, committing suicide. She will share a little about this at the end of the podcast and then will go into more depth in part two of this interview. Stick around to get to know Dana, her talent for working with clients to create custom projects that are on budget and on time. And then learn more of the back story about her sister and the event that shook Dana to her core. I was so honored that she shared this as I know it’s going to be helpful for others to hear her words.

Sallie Dale, Founder of The Urban Acres, and mother of three - soon to be four - has always enjoyed exploring her creativity. In fact, she remembers sitting at the art table in elementary school and when her classmates rotated to other tables, she stayed, to continue her art project. Her creative talent continued to flourish and, years later, after she and her husband Andrew were married, she entered a contest for Mrs. Meyer’s Homemaker of the Year, and won, based, in large part, on her imaginative and innovative projects. She has been blogging about her DIY creations since 2014.
Now, she is inspiring a new generation of creators by bringing an old-school craft known as punch needle embroidery, up to date. If you’re wondering what punch needle art is, it’s a simpler form of embroidery and uses a large needle-like tool to punch loops of yarn into fabric stretched on a hoop. Sallie’s artfully created signature punch-needle patterns are available in her curated kits, making it easy to have everything you need to start, or continue, this hobby. Punch needle is an engaging activity for adults as well as kids in an activity that benefits fine-motor skills and lessons screen-time. During this visit, you’ll learn more about Sallie, her family and why she is encouraging people to reconnect to their creativity.
