SmackDown was taped on Tuesday. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got married tonight, so WWE gave everyone the night off.
With a taped SmackDown, Brad and Greg could watch this at 1.5x (as God intended) and it really wasnāt a bad show.
The highlights were a fun Lucha Match and some back stage segments involving R-Truth and company, as well as Danhausen and Matt Ryder.
It wasnāt all fireworks on this July 3rd special, we got a couple of matches that really didnāt hit the spot.
SmackDaddies will be on hiatus until August. You may get an occasional podcast from us, but weāre taking a break due to family/work commitments. Enjoy your summer.

Alleluia, the two hour SmackDown era has returned. Weāre across the pond this week, on a show taped on Tuesday but making you believe itās Friday.
This show was overall pretty fun. The Danhausen and his Legion of Danhausen, the introduction of āMatt Ryderā, Blake Monroeās debut, Paige and Nathan Frazer wrestling at home.

I laughed, I cried, and I groaned while watching SmackDown this week. Guess which happened where.
We start the night with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes and the realization that Greg was wrong. Because we find out tonight who was counseling Randy on the phone, it wasnāt Kevin Owens. No it was Pat McAfee. This team Iām going to call the Antivirus, with N(Orton) and M(a)cAfee in his corner as faces (or heels?) going into Wrestlemania to take on Cody (who weāre still not sure if heās a face or a heel).
Cardona jobs again.
R-Priest takes on Miz/Wilson in what was my favourite part of SmackDown with an interesting twist-hausen.
Sami took on Carmelo Hayes in the Main Event. This is looking more and more like a 3 way match for the championship with Trick at Mania.

Jelly Rolled into Pittsburgh and was involved throughout the show.
First we get Randy Orton in a ring, to be confronted by jobber Matt Cardona, who did the only sensible thing and come out and clock Randy in the head with a microphone leading to a match to end the show.
Nick Aldis is enamoured by Tricky Williams, and tells him he has a Mania match, and tells Sami heās on the outside looking in.
Our first match of the night is the much anticipated, definitely not skipped over, Bellas vs Alexa/Charlotte in what Joe Tessitore calls our ātop heavy female tag divisionā. Truer words have never been spoken.
In your feel good segment of the night, RTruth is backstage with someone building the Judgement Dayās new clubhouse. Damian Priest is more confused than ever, but seems to get onboard with the plans of adding a hot tub. Truth confuses Jelly Roll with Dominik Mysterio and tells him Liv Morgan wonāt be happy to see him and Rhea Ripley togetherā¦
Rhea comes to the ring, it leads to a match against B-Fab. Itās about as exciting as it sounds because it didnāt really happen. Youāll never guess what did happen, outside interference.
Miz is in the back, heās looking more and more disheveled. Heās stepped in gum. The curse continues. Kit Wilson is now also cursed.
Jelly Roll and Kit Wilson was a fun, feel good match. In the end, this probably should have been saved for Vegas and not Pittsburgh.
Sami Zayn answers the open challenge this week and is the new US Champion. In the back he goes up to Nick and demands his match for Mania. Heās getting Trick Williams. Never saw that coming.
Remember that US Womenās Title Match they booked last week. Neither did WWE. Because we got a non title match with Giulia and Tiffy Time. With a little distraction/interference, Giulia wins.
SmackDown ends with the jobber match of the night. Randy Orton taking on Cowboy Bob I mean Matt Cardona. In the end, Orton is going to win this of course. Cody and Randy brawl after the match. Why is WWE Security so inept? And why do they put people in corners only for them to come out and continue to beat each other up?
Can we survive the road to Wrestlemania? Itās looking more and more doubtful.

Jelly Roll drives by Drew t-boning Jacob Fatu (at least I think?) who is then greeted by people rushing past him to see Drew ripping Fatuās windshield out and beating him. This is the beginning of Bradās predicted Peter Griffin and the Chicken segment.
The Freebird MFTs took on R-Priest, and of course the Wyattās have to also get involved. At the end of the day, long after the follically challenged R-Truth got a hair cut, we have new Champs.
Danhausen was paid by Candace LeRae to cure Johnny Depressing of his depression, but then vanishes with the human money.
Fraxiom took on Motor City Machine Guns. Near the end of the match Candice LeRae gets involved and punches Frazer and Sabin rolls him up for the win and a smile and wink from LeRae. Maybe Johnny is now Johnny Cuckholding?
Randy Orton talks againā¦After thatās over he goes backstage and him and Cardona have an interaction where Orton calls him a mark and nerd for his action figures. More on that later.
Sami and Aleister Black have a match with Trick Williams at ringside. This devolves when Trick tosses his drink at Sami and with that distraction he gets back in the ring to be greeted by Black Mass.
Now, we begin to wonder if Vince is back with WWE as the dementia moment of the night begins. Jade Cargill calls out Rhea Ripley. Then out of nowhere Michin and B-Fab join forces with Jade, surround the ring and beat down Rhea. THESE THREE WERE FEUDING LAST WEEK, JADE PUT MICHIN OUT OF ACTION FOR MONTHS! WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Miz tells us about his week since he was cursed. Danhausen tells him to mentor him and he can be uncursed, ladders fall at Miz.
We get another in the Carmelo vs Dragunov series. While another great match we need to give this some breathing room.
Kit Wilson is going to confront Jelly Roll. Jelly Roll and Kit have a slam poetry session where Kit makes fun of him losing weight and now he can see his dick again. Jelly tells him donāt worry his mother has seen it enough and he used to put his stomach on his motherās back. Good times. Kit snaps, fight ensues. Weāre getting them in a match in Pittsburg next week.
In the letās reuse the same angle we did last week department, we got the Irresistible Forces taking on the Bella Twins (who invited Alexa/Charlotte to come to ringside and watch). At the end of the day, it breaks down and gets thrown out and this continuesā¦ 4 team match upcoming at Wrestlemania I guess.
We get another segment with Randy Orton. Calling out Matt Cardona after Orton had taken a phone call in the back. He talked to the caller and then said heād fix the situation. Cardona comes out, they hug and then in Kevin Owens fashion kick to the mid section and stunner. Eventually Cardona gets beat up, even with security around. Orton gets a chair he already had in the ring, which Cardona could have removed it, Orton stomps on it. The Cardona house will be using the accessible parking for a while now with a broken arm and Chelesaās broken ankle? If they can avoid Drew MacIntyre theyāll likely be somewhat safe.

Drew quits, and Greg is seriously considering joining him.
The 1085th match involving Wyatt Sicks and MFTs happened, and just when you think weāre moving on from it, they decide to prolong it again. This needs to end.
Jade Cargill and Michin fought in a pretty decent match. But in reality, we really want to see Rhea beat her ass.
Sami āshit disturberā Zayn and Cody interact backstage.
We lost a bet somewhere as we get the Bella Twins on SmackDown. They get involved in the Womenās Tag Champ match with Nia/Lash vs Charlotte/Alexa. Next week itās Bellas vs Champsā¦ my guess is that the other pair will interfereā¦ againā¦..
Priest and R-Truth take on Legado Del Fantasma, no wait sorryā¦ they havenāt been that since Escobar re-signed with WWE and then went on a milk cartonā¦. So itās R-Priest vs Los Garza. Youāll never guess who wins.
Danhausen curses the Miz. Miz goes to ring, and his mic doesnāt work. Jelly Roll seems to be setup with Miz or Kit Wilson for Wrestlemania. My moneyās on Miz and him getting a WWE win.
Tiffy took on Kiana James. Guess what happens, outside interference. Itās been 25 minutes since weāve seen that. Tiffy wins.
Jacob Fatu takes on Trick Williams. Drew (checkās notes, sighs) interferes in the match after quitting, and thereās no security, no police. Cool. Aldis says Drew hasnāt quit and will face Fatu next week.
We finish the night with a contract signing, and Randy signs the contract and beats up Cody. Randy is the heel I guess?
These Smackdowns are not getting better as we go into Wrestlemania.

US Open Challenge saw Carmelo Hayes taking on Dr. Wagner Jr. Jr.
We get the formation of the new, greatest Tag Team of all time, R-Priest.
Nia/Lash celebrate their title win, and a we get a contender tag match.
On the menās side, we get a No. 1 Contender Tag Team Turmoil Gauntlet Match. Milk Carton staples Motor City Machine Guns vs Fraxiom vs Wyatt Sicks vs Los Garza vs R-Priest.
Rhea and Jade talk about how big their arms and legs are for some reason.
Johnny Depressing was prescribed a boot in the ass by his wife, and then got squashed by Oba Femi. Heās returned to his depressed state. Waiting for Dr. Shelby to show up.
Danhausen has demandhausens, and has a mentorhausen of Mizhausen now.
Drew and Cody fought. Booked terribly. Greg and Brad discuss other options on how it should have ended.
The Road to Wrestlemania looks to be approaching a cliff.

We are one night away from Elimination Chamber, and apparently the biggest creative priority was figuring out how to get Jey Uso out of the Chamber match and slide somebody else in. And yesā¦ they did it. Because of course they did.
The show was mostly built around that switch, with a whole lot of filler stitched in between like someone trying to pad an essay five minutes before class.
There were a couple of highlights. I wonāt lie. A few moments that made me raise an eyebrow instead of lowering my expectations.
But thenā¦
The MFTs gave us what might be the longest match in televised history. I aged. I suffered. Greg wisely skipped this one, and honestly, that may have been the smartest booking decision of the week.
Some storylines moved forward. Some didnāt. Some just sort of existed.
The road to Elimination Chamber is technically paved. Whether itās paved well is another question entirely.

Thatās clearly nonsense.

Iāve got some bad news for youā¦.Weāre back again this week to cover this nonsense (thanks Barrett). This show is terrible.
The show continued the build-up to Elimination Chamber, with multiple qualifying matches taking place for both the menās and womenās Chamber bouts.
Trick Williams won a menās Elimination Chamber qualifying triple threat against Damian Priest and Carmelo Hayes.
On the womenās side, Kiana James scored a surprise victory over Charlotte Flair and Nia Jax to punch her ticket into the Womenās Elimination Chamber, even though it was sloppy and Kiana technically lost the match to Charlotte after not kicking out to the Spanish Fly.
In singles action, Tama Tonga defeated Ilja Dragunov, and Oba Femi manhandled Kit Wilson.
The scheduled Giulia vs. IYO SKY womenās match was changed on short notice, with Rhea Ripley replacing IYO SKY against Giulia.
In that match, Ripley won by disqualification after interference from Lash Legend and a post-match run-in by IYO SKY, leading to chaos between the women.
In the main event, Aleister Black scored a win over Randy Orton after Drew MacIntyre interfered, again.

This felt like a bit of a speed bump on the road to WrestleMania. Not a bad show ā just not a lot of gas on the pedal either.
