Cultivating the values in the Beatitudes make us salt and light to the world around us. As messengers of God's Kingdom we have a preserving effect (salt) to the world around us. And our good deeds illuminate (shine a light) on God's Kingdom. -

In the Beatitudes, Jesus gives a counter-cultural message- to mourn over our sins, to hunger and thirst for righteousness, to be poor in spirit.
He wants to fill us with more of His Spirit, we just need to recognize our need and ask Him. -

In that tension, we want to have faith for God to move in powerful ways now. We also want to trust in His goodness regardless of our current circumstances. -

Where we have been unfaithful, Jesus has been faithful and made the way for us.
When we are tempted we need to submit to God (align ourselves with Him) and resist the devil. -

God desires to anoint us (set us apart and empower us) to do the works He has prepared for us to do (Eph 2.10). And we need His anointing to be fruitful in those works.
We want to discern and be led by Him to do those good works and recognize the anointing He has made available to us. -

The Holy Spirit helps purify us as and strengthen our faith as we cooperate with His work in our life.
