This year, Melissa and I will be taking an African Safari in Kenya to celebrate our 30th anniversary and a big birthday for myself. We wanted to do something really special to celebrate those occasions so we decided to cross the safari off our bucket list. We’ve done a lot of planning to prepare for this trip, but we thought for the podcast we might help you shortcut that planning and bring an expert onto the show. **NOTE: Since September 2022, as part of the City of Paris energy saving plan, the Eiffel Tower lights are switched off at 11:45pm so the last sparkle is at 11pm along with the special golden lighting always reserved for the last sparkle. The EXCEPTION is during the SUMMER months, when the Eiffel Tower closes its doors at 12:45 am which means there are sparkles at midnight and a final set at 1 am. Though the Tower’s golden lighting and beacon are turned off, the monument continues to sparkle for a few minutes. Don’t miss out on this special and unique experience. The lights twinkle for 5 minutes on the hour every night after dusk and for 10 minutes during its final sparkle. Be sure to check the official website before your visit for times and also for tickets if you do plan to go up in the Eiffel Tower.

We were recently at an event where, of course, the topic of travel came up. The husband asked us what our favorite domestic destination was. We both looked at each other with a blank look and for the first time when talking about travel, we were speechless. Don’t get us wrong, we were able to recover and rattle off some great places but it caused us to take a step back and have a discussion about why we often choose international travel over traveling within the U.S.

In this episode we explore the lesser-known Caribbean nation of Curaçao that is often overlooked by North American tourists. While many of you may be familiar with the blue liqueur that shares its name and is used in cocktails, few have had the opportunity to actually visit the place. Perhaps some of you have been on a cruise that stopped by, but never ventured out of the cruise port to truly experience the local people and culture. We forgot to mention that you'll need to complete an Immigration Form Prior to Arrival in Curacao. It only takes a few minutes and you can either print it out or have it saved on your phone when you go through Immigration. We had to fill it out a 2nd time when flying back through Curacao from Aruba to return home as well. It is easy and free so don't pay a 3rd party service to complete it for you. Here's the link.
