This is an episode we recorded in 2020 with long time Sky Sports Golf lead presenter, David Livingstone from Glasgow which we thought is well worth a revisit. We will be back to our normal pod next week with a review of the 2024 golfing season.
This is the story of a humble Glasgow lad, who rose from reporting news in the local rag to sitting alongside Jack Nicklaus while presenting the US Masters live from Augusta National.
David admits to stumbling into TV and golf after joining Sky Sports in its infancy. He presented 12 Ryder Cups, umpteen major championships and travelled the world following the best players in the game for over 25 years. He has worked alongside some amazing people including Tony Jacklin and Jack Nicklaus as well as interviewing everyone from Arnold Palmer to Rory McIlroy. He talked about his relationships with Seve and Tiger Woods and tells some great stories of his best pal, Butch Harmon. He gave an insight into what is involved in broadcasting a golf tournament and how things have changed over the years. In a very honest chat, David also talks about his thoughts on Augusta, Earl Woods and even the BBC.
Unassuming, professional, great fun but most of all a gentleman.

With the world of golf in sleep mode we brought a couple of questions of our own to the podcast.
Does golf need to be dumbed down a little to help attract newbies?
Is golf club membership too expensive?
How important is keeping your stats?
All this and a little more in this weeks episode..

Another great week at the DW World Championship ended in a win for Rory. Can he become the GOAT of Europe? We also look at the 10 players graduating to the PGA Tour next year and ask why was this not followed better on TV! Slow play, broken clubs and the Mid Amateur Championships make a return to Scottish Golf.
-
With low scoring this past weekend in Abu Dhabi, we ask the obvious question - was it too easy? Also, the race to Dubai comes to an end this week and can Rory pick up his 6th win? We also attempt to answer a few more of your questions in our helpline section.

It is very sad to hear of the passing of Mr Golf, Jim Farmer this week and it seems like a good time to repost this interview from one of our very early podcast episodes back in 2019. Jim was a legend of the game of golf in Scotland and St Andrews. A great player, a fantastic coach and a well kent face to so many involved in the game. He will be missed by many. RIP Jim

How important is the quality of the golf course to your enjoyment of watching professional golf? Did Royal County Down add to the Irish Open or could it have been played at a number of other courses and hold your attention just the same? Also, we look back at the Solheim Cup and ask if there was anything Europe could have done differently to keep hold of the trophy for another couple of years...
-

A look back at the past 2 weeks in golf starting with an amazing US Open at Pinehurst where Rory and his Caddy received some criticism but was it all justified? Bryson proves he is #2 in golf and where was Scotty? Then another win on the regular PGA tour for the world number 1 but will this year be a disappointment if he doesn't win The Open at Troon?
