On April 1, 2023, in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, 12-year-old Kain Heinland was with friends Nolan Grove, 13, and Miles Belleman. Nolan had his father’s loaded pistol, which he displayed and played with throughout the day, while Miles had a BB gun. Later, Nolan pointed the gun at Kain multiple times, which led to a fatal shot to Kain’s back as they walked through a neighbor’s yard. Nolan and Miles fled, with Nolan eventually calling his father, while Miles' parents contacted 911. Despite initial charges being delayed, Nolan faced trial for third-degree murder and other charges, with Kain’s family seeking justice.. Nolan, charged as an adult, could face a minimum of 40 years in prison.

Trigger Warning: This case does involve a school shooting and we want to make sure our listeners know this before proceeding. If this is not your type of case we totally understand and we hope you come back next week.
In 1978 school shootings were unheard of. They didn’t happen. Kids didn’t live in fear while getting their education, but on May 18, 1978 a new fear was unlocked at Murchison Junior High School in Austin, Texas. John Daniel Christian walked into his 8th grade English class and shot his teacher, Mr. Rod Grayson in the head, chest and arm. What followed would be unspeakable in today’s time. Listen for the chilling details of how these actions played out.
