"Use a reward system, they work." "Never use a reward system." When it comes to reward systems, there are no clear answers, nor are there definitive "best" and "worst" and lots of conflicting advice. We talk about our personal experiences with reward systems and give our recommendations for both the "do" and the "don't" classrooms.

Carol Dweck popularised the "Growth Mindset" in schools, but current studies are showing that it doesn't seem to work. What isn't being stated is that most schools aren't implementing it properly, and the general public doesn't seem to know the difference between a "Growth" mindset and a "mindset".

Just like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, there are lesson plans that have too much information, too little information, and just the right amount of information. If you've been a teacher for many years, you may not do detailed lesson plans, because you have most of it in your head and no one else is going to ask to see it. If you're a new teacher, you may need to submit lesson plans each week to your head of dept or principal. We discuss some of the key things that really do make up a good lesson plan.
