In today’s episode, I am joined by a former marine engineer with 10+ years of experience sailing across the water bodies of the world—Mr Vinay Adhye. Mr Adhye is based in Mumbai and is the business head for the city’s branch of Reliance Retail Ltd. Before Reliance, he was the director at the Radhakrishna Foodland Pvt. Ltd. and then at Hallmark Foods and Agri Solutions & Services.
A strong advocate of recycling measures, Mr Adhye has successfully recycled about 14 million tetrapak cartons into 550 school benches so far to provide furniture to different schools in need. His initiatives have also led to the recycling of half a million plastic bottles so far, for which he continues to build incentives for consumers who contribute towards plastic recycling measures. He has been relentlessly working with RUR Greenlife for the latter’s ecological and social cause of turning waste into useful school furniture.

On this episode, I am joined by a mastermind of waste management, Ms Monisha Narke, the Founder and CEO of RUR GreenLife, an NGO based in Mumbai that has been relentlessly working towards building a comprehensive waste management mechanism and simultaneously spreading awareness about the need for the same. Ms Narke has extensively worked towards environmental causes across her professional career. A noteworthy achievement amongst many that Ms Narke holds is the patent that she designed and filed for "Greengold Aerobic Bio Composter", which ensures 100% aerobic, non-electricity dependent, hygienic and manual solution. She has been part of different educational initiatives that RUR has organized to recycle plastic waste for government school furniture. She has also authored insightful articles on the need to manage waste for the health of our oceans and our beach sites.
