Howdy folks! Weldon Henson here. Do we have a great episode for you today. We had our friend Tanner Burch join us in the shop to talk about what it's like playing music up in Nashville versus down here in Austin and what the music scene is like up there. You'd be surprised at how different it is!
Tanner has a varied background, he actually started as a football player and went All American twice before having to quit due to some pretty serious injuries. That left Tanner feeling lost and he had to reinvent his whole identity. Any of us who have had to restart our career know how that feels. That's when he leaned into music and song writing and found his next passion.
We're sorry it had to happen that way, but oh so glad that Tanner is gracing Honky Tonks all over with his music.
Please make sure to go listen to Tanner Burch's music, and follow him on social media. He's a great guy and an awesome musician.
Thank you to Stephen Castillo of The Western Express for jumping in to co-host with me while Eric Sims is out on business. We appreciated having you in the shop again and would love to have you back in anytime!
Until next week! -
Hey folks! This episode we have guest Stephen Castillo of The Western Express in the shop with us. He's a local Austin music guy who have beaten the pavement and made his way in the music world. we got to talking about what its like when you're just starting out, playing to a crowd of 1-2 people, no band, no hype, and nothing but a couple dollars in your wallet. It's not a journey for everyone, but for those of us who LOVE music, there isn't any other way we'd have it.
The three of us also got to talking about Motley Crue, The Ramones, George Strait, Garth Brooks, and other music influences we've had in our lives.
Go follow The Western Express on social, listen to their music on Spotify or Apple Music, and don't forget to follow us here on this channel for more episodes of Texas Music Lifestyle.
See you next week! -

Howdy folks! You know what part of the music industry is crucial, but doesn't get talked about as often? Merch! Everybody loves a good band t-shirt, but as a musician, merch can be a huge pain in the behind. But it can also be a saving grace when monthly streams are down and the rent is still due. So this episode, Eric and I brought on Kenny Furr of the local merchandising company "El Famoso". It's a good little peek into a more business side of the music business.
Phoebe, our producer, would also like to apologize for the mishap in the middle. She may or may not have forgotten to check the memory before we got started. She knows better now.

Howdy folks! This episode, we've got some friends up all the way from Brazil. A lot of folks might not know, but country music is alive and well in South America! In fact, when we go down to Brazil to play it feels just like home.
Tune in as we talk with with the members of Bastardos Country Rock and see how they are enjoying their time in Texas. After we wrapped up filming, the guys headed over to Cavender's to get some real Texas outfits to perform in at The Broken Spoke. Hoo-wee! Doesn't get more Texas than that.
Go check out my new single "Two-Steppin' Tuesdays" out now in honor of my 15 Year Anniversary at The Broken Spoke. -
Hey folks! Welcome to the first episode of Texas Music Lifestyle. I thought it was high time I start a show where we share what life is like backstage, and all the crazy stories that music artists, band members, and crew have from life in the music industry. Join us each week and we will have on musical guests from all over the state.
My co-host, Eric Sims (The Cowboy Experience) and I, Weldon Henson (Country Music Artist) have set up in my garage shop to bring y'all the inside scoop of the country music lifestyle. We're gonna have a lot of fun, and probably drink a lot of Hans Pils.
In this first episode, we covered the basics and hopefully helped y'all get to know us a bit better. Next week, our guest is a band alllllll the way from Brazil. It's a long way from Texas, but you wouldn't know it because these guys have the Lonestar spirit in their hearts. You're not going to want to miss that episode!
