Every episode of our show ends with a segment called “Fact or Fiction,” where Chelsea throws out health claims to her guests and they tell us if they’re fact, fiction, or need a little nuance. It's one of our favorite parts of the show. And since health misinformation continues to run rampant, we thought it’d be a good idea to resurface some of our most popular and important fact or fiction segments from the last year of the show. Guests include gastroenterologist Dr. Trisha Pasricha, family physician Dr. Mike Varshavski, parenting economist Emily Oster, obesity-medicine specialist Dr. Fatima Cody Stanford, and pediatrician/allergist Dr. Zachary Rubin.

Our friends at Lemonada Media have a parenting podcast we think you’ll enjoy: Talkaboutable. Hosted by child and adolescent psychiatrist (and mom of 4) Dr. Susan Swick, she believes if you can talk about issues with your kids, you can tackle them. Each episode, Dr. Swick hears from a parent about what’s keeping them up at night and together, they unlock how to manage it. Then, she dives deep into that issue with an expert, from picky eating to grief.
In this episode, Dr. Swick explores thoughtful, practical strategies for kids with ADHD with Dr. Carrie Jackson, a licensed clinical child psychologist specializing in ADHD and the founder of SoCal Child Psychology. Carrie has been diagnosed with ADHD herself, so she also has a personal window into what works. Together, they unpack how parents can help their kids navigate everyday challenges, from impulsivity and defiance to sibling conflicts.
From Lemonada Media in partnership with the Ohana Center for Child and Family Mental Health at Montage Health, new episodes out every Tuesday. You can listen and subscribe here: https://lemonadamedia.com/show/talkaboutable-with-dr-susan-swick/. -

Puberty – everyone goes through it, but few want to talk about it. Except Dr. Cara Natterson. She’s a pediatrician, speaker, educator, and leading voice in tween and teen health. And she’s built a career creating informative, empowering, and engaging ways to discuss hygiene, periods, body image, and yes, eventually, at the appropriate age – sex. Is puberty starting earlier? Is it lasting longer? How do you discuss gambling, and changing bodies with your kid, and how do you prevent that information from trickling down to younger siblings? Chelsea gets all the answers.

He’s a double board-certified Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Sleep Specialist with a podcast called “Better in Bed” releasing this fall. Longer, warmer days often means more time outside, more time in the sun, and, for a lot of us, more questions about how to best protect our skin. But the conversation around sunscreen has gotten a lot more complicated than just remembering to reapply. There’s a growing anti-sunscreen movement online, tanning is having an alarming comeback, and skincare trends are promising everything from flawless skin to anti-aging miracles. Plus, some people are trying to treat their own skin cancer! Chelsea is joined by dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon Dr. Neera Nathan to help separate what’s backed by science from what’s just hype — or even harmful. They debunk mistruths about sunscreen and discuss which skincare trends are worth the hype and which ones are a waste of money.

While flavored vapes can help adults quit smoking, they can also draw in young users. Pulmonologist, critical care doctor, and internal medicine physician Dr. Cedric “Jamie” Rutland joins Chelsea to weigh in on the FDA’s controversial decision to authorize certain fruit-flavored e-cigarettes for adults. They clear up confusion about the risks of vaping versus smoking, discuss what we know (and don’t know) about the chemicals inside flavorings, and forecast how approvals like these could impact teens and young adults. Plus, why Jamie drew a crowd at Coachella.

Exercise misinformation runs rampant online. Every fitness influencer has a different opinion on what workouts to do, when to eat, and how hard to push – often while trying to sell you something. It’s a lot to navigate, and can exacerbate unrealistic, unhealthy beauty standards. Hot off the Boston Marathon, Chelsea gets the facts on exercise from physiologist and sports nutritionist Dr. Stacy Sims, who has directed research programs around the world focused on female athlete health and performance. They talk about weight lifting, cardio, and the differences between men and women when it comes to training, nutrition, and health. Plus, she may make you think twice about the supplements you take or donning a weighted vest.

This week, we decided to revisit one of our most popular episodes with Dr. Jessica Knurick. This conversation first aired back in October of last year, and yet somehow we’re still talking about seed oils and raw milk! As a registered dietician with a PhD in nutrition science, Dr. Knurick first noticed heightened amounts of fear-mongering around health and nutrition on her social media feeds when she was postpartum with her second kid in 2022 – and it’s only continued to get worse. Since then, she’s used her expertise to continuously fact-check what the “Make America Healthy Again” movement gets wrong. Today, she’s here with Chelsea to set the record straight on seed oils, infant formula, raw milk, fluoride and so much more.

Chelsea sits down with Dr. Temple Grandin, a professor of animal science, bestselling author, and one of the most influential voices in autism advocacy. Diagnosed with autism in the 1950s, Dr. Grandin turned what many saw as a limitation into a remarkable strength and transformed how the world understands both animal behavior and human neurodiversity. In this conversation, she and Chelsea explore whether or not we should be treating autism with Leucovorin, how visual thinking shaped her groundbreaking work with livestock, how we can eat meat ethically and what she believes people still get wrong about autism today.

Most people can't go 90 minutes without checking our phones. What does that mean for our kids? Chelsea talks with social psychologist, NYU professor and bestselling author Jonathan Haidt, whose groundbreaking books, The Coddling of the American Mind, The Anxious Generation, and the new graphic novel, The Amazing Generation, have sparked a national conversation about childhood, screens, social media, and mental health. They dig into what our digital habits are really doing to younger generations, the dangers of social media, and why short-form video is uniquely damaging to developing brains. It's a conversation we all need to hear and one that might help us put our phones down, too.

The MAHA ad that ran during the Superbowl starring boxer Mike Tyson labeling people with obesity as “fat” and “fudgy” angered a lot of people, including obesity medicine physician Dr. Fatima Cody Stanford.
