When we think about climate action, we often think about buying ethically or reducing emissions. But what about the way we bank? Depending on your bank, your money could be invested in ways that do good OR in industries that cause enormous harm, like the fossil fuel industry.
In today's episode, we chat to Bank Australia’s Manager of Climate Action Strategy, Georgia Windrum, about the power that our money actually has as a form of climate action.
Your HOT climate action this week, courtesy of Georgia, is to check out Market Forces to learn more about where all of Australia's bank stand on climate action.

Do we want kids? Is overpopulation a sustainability problem? Is overconsumption a sustainability problem? What is de-growth? How can we influence behaviour change? These are the HOT, spicy questions we're exploring in today's episode!
This week's action item for everyone to complete is to write a list of 3 things that you would do if you had an infinite about of money, think about how these are linked to carbon emissions, and then think about how you can rewrite these goals so that they're less carbon intensive. Lizzie shares a super great example of how you can do this - but you've got to listen to find out what it is!
Enjoy hotties x

Four years after the first major School Strike for Climate, which saw 350,000 people across Australia come together to demand greater action on the climate emergency, Tegan and Lizzie get chatting with some of the organisers, speakers and attendees of this year's climate strike in Eora, Sydney.
Enter: Tegan's (questionable) vox pop career...
The school strikers sent a strong message to the federal and state governments that they will not go away until they see real climate solutions, that will end all fossil fuels, create investment in renewables, and put First Nations led solutions at the forefront of policy. Slay.

There's two words that have been doing the rounds lately that we need to talk about: the Safeguard Mechanism. What the heck it is?!
In today's episode, we're chatting to Leigh Ewbank, a climate campaigner for Climate Action Network Australia (CANA), who is talking us through the safeguard mechanism, and the amendments to it that have been proposed by the Labor government. We also talk about something Leigh has been working on in response to the proposed amendments, the Dirty Dozen campaign!

We'll admit it. 2023 is getting away from us... I mean it's mid-February and we're only just getting our first episode from the year up. BUT here it is, and it's giving HOT girls going through existential crisis.
Join us while we discuss the complexities of climate change storytelling (and if you're interested in this topic, please please read the article linked below - it's amazing), our thoughts on the individual vs. collective action debate, and the biggest question we have at the moment: how can we keep momentum in the climate movement?
Happy listening hotties!

Welcome back to our two-part COP series! From the monumental agreement to develop a Loss and Damage Fund, to Australia's new and improved global image, we cover everything you need to know about the latest COP - COP 27 - in this episode.
As always, we're ending the episode with an act of hotness - something hot you can do or implement or change - that will have an impact.
This week, we've got a YouTube videos we want you to watch! It's one of the incredibly passionate and moving speeches we talk about in this week's episode from Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados. Happy watching...

This week, we're asking a HUGE question: Do individual changes make a difference? You'll have to listen to the episode to find out if individual climate actions are HOT or NOT!
As always, we're leaving you with something hot you can do, implement or change that will have an impact (especially since that's what this episode is all about)!
This week, we're challenging you to switch up the way that they travel for the rest of this week - that means walking, riding, or catching public transport to work, rather than driving! Share a photo of you doing this to our Instagram @projectplanetaus and we’ll reshare it (because we love sharing HOT acts).

Welcome back to your weekly climate glow up, That's Hot! In the next two episodes, we're exploring everything COP (Conference of the Parties, that is). Don't know what that is?! Well you've come to the best place to learn.
Today, we're taking a walk down memory lane, looking at all of the key moments from COP 1 to COP 26, and everything that Australia has (and hasn't) committed to on the world stage to reduce carbon emissions.
Usually, we'd end every episode with an act of hotness (an actionable thing you can do to have a positive impact), BUT we're going to leave it until the end of our second COP episode. So this week, all we ask if you listen and learn!
If you've got ANY questions about COP that you want us to answer in part two, send us a DM at @projectplanetaus!
xoxo

Welcome back to episode 2 of That's Hot by Project Planet! So glad you're back to get even hotter with us.
This episode, we explore the complexities of defining sustainability, looking at the difference between weak and strong sustainability and exploring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We even ask the big question, "Do you think it's possible to be 100% sustainable?".
Just like last week, we're leaving you with an act of hotness (an actionable thing you can do to have a positive impact) to complete this week. This one's fun: don't buy anything new this week. Think about ways you can reuse what you already have, whether that's using up all of the food in your fridge and pantry before heading back to the shops, or buying your weekend's outfit second hand. Then start a conversation with your friends about this!
Send us a DM over on Instagram to let us know what you do this week!
Bye hotties!

Welcome to our second episode of That's Hot! In today's episode, Lizzie and I explore what's in Labor's budget for the climate.
Is it hot?! Is it not?! You'll have to listen to find out...
Every episode will end with an act of hotness (an actionable thing you can do to have a positive impact), and this week, we're asking you to head on over to the Guardian, where you can pretend to be the Treasurer (link below). How will you spend the country's money?! Try scrapping the stage-three tax cuts to see just how much money could be spent elsewhere)!
So, what are you waiting for?!

Welcome to our first episode of That's Hot! We're kicking it off by exploring the Labor parties (not so new anymore) climate legislation.
The Bill outlines Australia's greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets of a 43% reduction from 2005 levels by 2030 and net zero by 2050; requires the minister to prepare and table an annual climate change statement; requires the Climate Change Authority to give the minister advice in relation to the annual statement and future greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets; and provides for periodic reviews of the operation of the Act.
Is it hot?! Is it not?! You'll have to listen to find out...
Every episode will end with an act of hotness (an actionable thing you can do to have a positive impact), and this week, we're asking you to head on over to the Green Electricity Guide (link below) and check the rating of your current electricity provider. As outlined in the Guide, by switching to greener electricity providers, together we can force dirty coal and gas out of the grid and bring more renewable electricity in, sending a clear message to electricity companies that it’s time to get serious about tackling climate change.
So, what are you waiting for?!
