This week I fight through a weak voice (overcoming a cold) to discuss the events of this past weekend, the political assignations in Minnesota. Although a bit rambling at times, I wanted to share my heart with all of you. My plea is that we tone down the rhetoric that leads to such violence and instead contend for the faith with love and truth.

Election and after election and are left asking, '"Are these really the best candidates we can get?" And even if they are the best we can get, do campaigns really have to be so nasty and ugly? There has to be a better way. This week on the podcast listen in as Wisconsin Representative Clinton Anderson discuss what I believe to be an exciting alternative that is beginning to pick up steam in various parts of the country - rank choice voting. Listen in and learn more. It can get complicated and controversial, but I believe the pro's outweigh the cons. But, hey its already brought me ( a conservative) and Rep. Anderson (a progressive Democrat) together!

This week I got the chance to interview a journalist I love following, Chris Cillizza. You may have read his columns in the Washington Post or seen him on CNN or NewsNation. Chris is now an independent journalist simply, as he says, calling balls and strikes no matter what uniform is at bat. We chatted about possible bias in the media and then spoke a little bit about the controversy surrounding accusations of a cover-up attempting to hide the mental and physical decline of former President Joe Biden. It was just a thrill to chat with the one and only Chris Cilliza!

This week we welcome royalty to the podcast! The self-proclaimed king of Amillennialism is joining us to talk about how to maintain and proclaim our Baptist distinctives while engaging with other denominations. Keith (or Your Calvinist) is known for his hilarious denominational meeting videos. We chat about subjects like what does it mean to be a Baptist, how to engage with fellow Christians in other denomination and finally how important is it fellowship with those outside our own traditions. We recorded this the day Pope Francis died, so we also had some thoughts about Roman Catholicism as well.

I love having former students come on the podcast and share what God is doing in their lives. This week's podcast features Rebecca Meier who works with DOOR International reaching the deaf community for Christ. This interview opened my eyes to the unreached people that live among us everyday. I'm also ashamed to say that much of my understanding of the needs of the deaf community needed to be corrected. Truly the student has become the master... Also, listen in as she talks about her interior design company. Wife, Mother, Missionary and entrepreneur...

The entire nation is now focused on the state of Wisconsin and our race Supreme Court Justice. Conservative Bard Schimel faces liberal Susan Crawford in a race where abortion and crime have taken center stage. But, another issue that the court will most certainly face is school choice. In other words, my job is at stake in this election which is why I support Brad Schimel who is also pro-life and is an adoptive father. while I didn't get the opportunity to ask Judge Crawford any questions I did attend one of her rallies. So, I will play a few clips of her thoughts about abortion.

Is it a sin to get a tattoo? Are hesitations regarding tattoos just a vestige old-fashioned legalism or does the Bible condemn the practice? As many in Reformed circles embrace tatting up themselves in Greek Scripture passages and Trinitarian symbols, should we give pause and give this a little more thought? Join my friend entrepreneur Dayton Bennett and I as we discuss this controversial issue this week on the podcast. Share this with your friends!

We all desire doctrinal clarity and purity. But in our efforts to distinguish ourselves from other denominations, groups and teachers we believe to be mistaken, are we forgetting about Christ's desire to have a unified church? Are purity and unity mutually exclusive? Can you seek unity without sacrificing Biblical doctrine. This week we are exploring the book The Scandal of Schism by Chris Anderson, the head of Church Works Media. Listen in as Chris describes his struggle with these issues growing up and searching for Biblical truth within modern day fundamentalism.

So, joining us this week is Dr. Joel Tetreau of the Institute of Biblical Leadership. Dr. Tetreau is here to chat about his book, Three Lines in the Evangelical Sand: Types A, B, C Fundamentalism.
