In episode 485 astrologer Elly Higgins joins the show to discuss the 8-year repetitions of Venus retrograde in Aries and how they tie into queer history over the past century.
In this episode we start with the Venus retrograde in Aries of 1905, and then work our way forward in 8 year increments, discussing how important moments and turning points in queer history keep coinciding with this retrograde.
In the process we ended up finding a bunch of repetitions, many of which give insight into the Venus retrograde that we are currently living through today.
Elly is the host of Star Gays: The Queer Astrology Archives Podcast, and you can find more information here:

In episode 484 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock look at the astrological forecast for April 2025.
April see the continuation and eventual conclusion of many of the alignments that started in March, with the effective range of the Aries eclipse extending through the first week or so, and then Mercury and Venus wrapping up their retrograde cycles and stationing direct in the second week of April.
The second half of the month becomes intense when Mars moves into Leo and forms an opposition with Pluto, with that energy peaking around the fourth week of the month.
We spend the first 90 minutes of the episode talking about the astrology of news and events that have occurred since our last forecast, and then in the second half we transition into talking about the astrology of April.

In episode 483 astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best discuss what happened in the past when the planets Saturn and Neptune form conjunctions every 36 years, and how these alignments often coincide with important turning points in history.
We spend the first three quarters of the episode going through the seven most recent Saturn-Neptune conjunctions in history in detail, starting with the 1989 conjunction and then going backwards in 36 years increments to 1952/3, 1917, 1882, 1846, 1809, 1773.
In the last part of the episode we highlight recurring themes that have come up across multiple conjunctions, and extending our study all the way back to the year 500 BCE.
By looking at conjunctions from the past we hope to get a better idea of what the current Saturn-Neptune conjunction means, which is forming in the sky now in 2025 and 2026.

In episode 479 of The Astrology Podcast, astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best delve into the repeating historical patterns underlying Mars retrograde in Cancer periods, specifically within the context of United States history.
During the course of the episode we explore how these retrogrades, which occur roughly every 15-17 years, coincide with significant events and recurring themes in American history. By examining past instances of Mars retrograde in Cancer, our goal is to provide perspective on current events and potential future developments.
The discussion begins with an explanation of the Mars retrograde cycle and its unique characteristics, including its varying durations and the signs it retrogrades through. We emphasize the importance of looking at the entire period Mars spends in Cancer, including the time before and after the actual retrograde station, to fully grasp its impact.
After that we proceed to discuss the specific dates and degrees of Mars retrogrades in Cancer, starting with the year of the US Constitution's ratification and moving forward.
In particular we highlight the 79-year repetition of Mars retrogrades in Cancer, which is based on the Babylonian Goal-Year periods, and how it aligns with important turning points in American history. We also note the shorter 47-year and 32-year repetitions, which coincide with other planetary cycles.
During the course of the episode we explore the themes that emerge during these Mars retrograde periods, including important turning points related to immigration, civil rights, and economic shifts.
The episode concludes with a reflection on the potential implications of these historical patterns for the present and future.

Episode 478 features and interview with astrologer Jason Holley about Experiential Astrology, which is a dynamic approach that attempts to embody the symbols of astrology through creative and interactive methods, including making the chart come alive by acting it out in a group setting with Astrodrama.
Experiential astrology has its origins in some of the experimentation with different psychological methods that were happening in the astrological community in the 1970s and 80s, and Jason highlights the work of astrologer Barbara Schermer in particular.
Jason defines Experiential Astrology as engaging with astrological symbolism through multiple intelligences and perceptual faculties, including somatic, sensuous, imagistic, instinctual, kinesthetic, expressive, and relational.
This approach emphasizes the full-consciousness experience of astrological symbolism, moving beyond conceptual understanding to a felt, lived experience.
In the discussion we focused on one particular application of Experiential Astrology known as Astrodrama, which involves a group of people standing around and acting out a person's birth chart, and we discuss some of the different ways that this can be done.

In episode 477 Chris Brennan discusses a number of recent stories in the news and how they are repetitions of events that occurred during past Venus retrograde in Aries periods, demonstrating how the 8-year cycle of Venus can connect events from the past with the present.
This is a followup to the Venus retrograde in Aries in history episode last month, where Nick Dagan Best and I went through and noted a bunch of important events that happened during past Venus retrograde in Aries periods.
Ever since we recorded that episode on January 10 there started being all of these really striking headlines and news stories that were repetitions of events we had talked about from previous Venus retrogrades in that episode, so I decided to compile them all here in this episode.
Part of the purpose is to document some of these incredible Venus retrograde repetitions while they are happening and fresh in people's minds, but also to show people the repetitions so that they know what to look out for as we get deeper into this Venus retrograde over the next few months, that way you all can help me identify other repetitions that emerge in the near future.

In episode 475 astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best discuss what every Venus retrograde in Aries period has coincided with in history over the past century, identifying patterns of 8-year repetitions in the past that are tied in with the present and future.
The premise of this episode is that we have a Venus retrograde in Aries and Pisces coming up over the next few months, and it seems to coincide with a really important part of the year in March and April where we are expecting some major world events, so I wanted to look back in history and see if I could get a better sense for what these particular retrogrades in Aries have coincided with in the past.
What Nick and I did in this episode is we started in 2025 and talked a little bit about what is already known or is clearly developing about the current Venus retrograde, and then after that we jumped back 8 years to 2017, which is the last time Venus went retrograde in Aries, and talked about major events that happened in that period.
Then we went back another 8 years to 2009, when Venus was again retrograde in Aries, and so on. During the course of the episode we made it all the way back to 1905, which was the first time that Venus retrograded Aries in this cycle.
Here is the full list of Venus retrograde in Aries years over the past century: 1905, 1913, 1921, 1929, 1937, 1945, 1953, 1961, 1969, 1977, 1985, 1993, 2001, 2009, 2017, 2025.
By moving backwards in time we went retrograde ourselves, and started with a period that is more familiar, but then kept showing how there are these weird 8 year repetitions that connect events and themes across these different time periods.
We ended up finding a LOT of really interesting stuff, and some major correlations that will end up being very relevant for news stories today.
I feel like this episode really helps to build on and expand the Venus retrograde research that we did in 2023, and to deepen our understanding of Venus retrogrades in general by really drilling more deeply into this particular series.
More importantly, it also helps to shed light on and provide further contextualization of some of the events that will happen in March and April of 2025.

In episode 474 astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best discuss Charlie Chaplin and Adolf Hitler as time twins who were born a few days apart both with Venus retrograde, and how subsequent Venus retrogrades coincided with important turning points in both of their lives.
Hitler and Chaplin were born in April of 1889 only 4 days apart, and so their birth charts are remarkably similar, including both having Venus retrograde in Taurus.
The issue of time twins or people who are born around the same time with similar charts is usually brought up as a criticism against astrology, since clearly two people born around the same time can have different destinies, but in this episode we demonstrate how two people born near in time can end up having important turning points happen in their lives at the same time due to shared transits.
One example is how during the Venus retrograde in 1913 both men ended up moving to the place they would become famous, with Chaplin moving to Hollywood at this time, and Hitler moving to Germany. While their destinies were different, their timelines would often overlap in striking ways.
This was originally a piece of a larger investigation into Venus retrogrades in Aries that we decided to break off into its own episode, in order to be able to really tell both of their stories in full, and demonstrate how important turning points in their lives tended to happen during the time of these Venus retrograde periods.
Because our focus was primarily on the Venus retrograde periods we did not reflect on the broader issue of time twins as much as we could have, and so this is instead more of an initial introduction to astrologers can address the issue of time twins from a practical, conceptual, and philosophical standpoint.

In episode 472 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock discuss the year ahead astrology forecast for 2025, and make predictions about the planetary alignments in the coming year!
2025 will be a big year of change, with all of the outer planets moving into new zodiac signs this year, marking the beginning of a new era.
This will be the first year that Pluto spends entirely in Aquarius, and then in March the planet Neptune will move into Aries, followed shortly by Saturn also entering Aries in May, Jupiter ingressing into Cancer in June, and finally Uranus beginning a long transit through Gemini in July.
This year also sees Venus and Mars retrograde periods, the last of the eclipses in Aries, and finally the beginning of a new series of eclipses in Virgo and Pisces.
We spend the first two hours giving a big picture overview of all of the major outer planet shifts in 2025, and then in the second half we transition into giving a more chronological breakdown of the astrology of the next year.

Episode 471 features astrologer Chris Brennan's year ahead horoscopes for 2025, with an astrology forecast and predictions for all twelve signs of the zodiac for the coming year.
These horoscopes are meant to take some of the major transits that we will discuss in our big year ahead astrology forecast and personalize them, by talking about them within the context of each sign.
I would recommend listening to the zodiac sign that matches your rising sign if you know your birth time, although you can also listen to your Sun and Moon signs as well.

In episode 470 astrologer Chris Brennan talks to listeners of the podcast who share stories about 4th house placements in their birth chart.
This is a followup to the two recent episodes on the meaning of the 4th house in astrology where we focused on looking at celebrity example charts, and in this episode the goal was to interview some listeners of the podcast and talk with them about their 4th house placements directly.
This episode was recorded on October 6, 2024 with a group of patrons of The Astrology Podcast who signed up through my page on Patreon, and it was recorded while I was still researching the 4th house episodes.
The webinar ended up being really helpful in getting to some core meanings of the 4th house, and each person shared some really interesting stories about the unique way the 4th house showed up in their life.
This episode is available in both audio and video versions below.

In episode 469 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock discuss the astrological forecast for December 2024, and talk about news and events from the past month through the lens of astrology.
For the first 90 minutes of the episode we talk about news that happened since our last forecast, starting with the outcome of the 2024 US presidential election, and then in the second half of the episode we do a deep dive into the astrology of December.
The astrology of December opens with the second half of a troublesome Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, plus a contentious Mars retrograde period beginning in Leo.
The middle of the month features some favorable aspects, such as Mercury stationing direct, and an auspicious trine between Venus and Jupiter.
December ends with major tensions building, as Mars and Pluto move into a difficult opposition, which will culminate at the very beginning of January.

In episode 468 astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best discuss what it means when the ruler of the 4th house is placed in each of the 12 houses in a birth chart.
This is the second episode in a two-part series on the meaning of the fourth house in astrology. In the previous episode we talked about the significations of the 4th house, and looked at examples of the ruler of the Ascendant in the 4th.
In this episode we continue that research by going systematically through each of the 12 houses and looking at examples to understand what it means when the ruler of the 4th house is in different houses in the chart.
When the ruler of the 4th house is located in different houses it will connect the 4th house with other areas of the person's life.
The 4th house is primarily associated with home, family, parents, private life, and end of life, and these are the main topics that we focus on in this episode.
In this episode we experimented with incorporating some listener submissions into the episode, to complement the celebrity examples.

In episode 467 astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best do a deep dive into the meaning of the 4th house in astrology, and examine the birth charts of more than 50 notable figures who have the ruler of the Ascendant in the 4th in order to demonstrate what the house means.
The fourth house is traditionally said to signify topics such as: home, parents, family, private life, secrets, the past, death, and matters after death.
We open the episode by talking about the significations of the fourth house in detail, and discussing the way that it was conceptualized both in ancient astrology and in more recent times.
Afterwards the rest of the episode is focused on looking at examples of people who have the ruler of the Ascendant in the fourth house, and these have been arranged into groups that concentrate on specific significations associated with the 4th house.
After that we have some brief concluding remarks before wrapping up.
Followup Episode on the Ruler of the 4th House
This is the first episode in a two part series on the 4th house in astrology, and part 2 will cover the ruler of the 4th house when it is placed in each of the 12 houses.

In episode 466 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock look ahead at the astrological forecast for November 2024.
We spend the first hour talking about news and events since our last forecast, and then in the second hour we transition into talking about the forecast for November.
This month opens with a tense Mars-Pluto opposition that coincides with an optimistic Venus-Jupiter opposition, and then by later in the month there is a surprising Full Moon in Taurus conjunct Uranus.
Saturn slows down and stations direct in the watery sign of Pisces, while Pluto departs from Capricorn and makes it final ingress into futuristic Aquarius where it will stay for the next two decades.
By the end of the month Mercury slows down and stations retrograde while squaring a misleading Neptune, and this configuration leads us into the dramatic Mars retrograde station in Leo that happens in early December.
