This episode is a little different to my usual content, but still a super important and often overlooked topic in student life.Quick disclaimer: all the advice from this episode is coming from a 19 year old university student living in Australia, and whilst I aim to provide the best possible advice, I cannot speak on behalf of students in other countries or in different life stages, so please donât feel pressured to do anything I recommend or feel like you are behind if youâre in a completely different life situation.Instagram: @byariaemilyJoin Ecadamie: https://www.skool.com/ecadamie/about?ref=ad979bdd0bdf49e69c28f1b0fc1bf9d3

Hello there!
I hope youâre having the most lovely week. Welcome to December, the season of celebration, family, and preparing for the new year.
I heard recently that a way we often cope with stress is by starting new things, when really we should be closing old loops, finishing projects, and actually completing things rather than continuously starting new things.
So I made a promise to myself that before I start making my vision board for next year or buy anything new that I might need, then I first of all need to get rid of anything I donât currently use or need.
This is why this weekâs episode of The Balanced Student podcast discussed exactly this: How to simplify & declutter for the new year
Whilst this isnât directly a study tip, having a decluttered and organised life can honestly just make you feel more on top of things so you can feel mentally fresh and ready to go for the new year and starting school again in 2026.

Hello everyone and welcome back! There have been so many episode requests recently and Iâm trying to get them prepared for you guys over the next few weeks.
If youâve ever heard me say that practice questions are the best way to study⊠I still stand by that. But depending on your school or uni, sometimes you just donât get given any. I definitely took high-school worksheets and past papers for granted, because at uni? We get almost none, and revising becomes a whole new challenge.
Inside the episode, we cover:
How to create a study plan based on your topics + exam timelineThe 20-minute mind-map method to test your true understandingHow to fill your knowledge gaps properlyMaking and revising flashcards using spaced repetitionExplaining concepts using the Feynman techniqueUsing AI to generate practice questionsFinding open-access question banksCreating your own anatomy/physiology âapplication drillsâA simple study block you can repeatWhat to do if youâre studying English or essay-based subjectsIf youâre listening to this, I know youâre ambitious, determined, and not just aiming to pass. But itâs so easy to feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like youâre working harder than anyone else yet still not seeing the results you want.
Iâve been exactly where you are: burnt out, studying 15 hours a day, getting okay grades but nowhere near my potential. Fast forward a few years, I now study 2â4 hours a day, maintain a 6.8 GPA in Medical Science, and actually have a life I enjoy.
That transformation is exactly why I built Ecadamie: to guide students like you to your highest academic potential without sacrificing your wellbeing.

Studying isn't something we're naturally inclined to enjoy, at least not in this day and age. But thankfully, there are some things we can do to make studying more enjoyable, which I share in today's episode.
(I was super jetlagged from flying home from Croatia so I'm so sorry if I look and sound much more tired than usual I took like a 2 hour nap straight after this)
