Welcome to another episode of the Book of Love Podcast! In this episode, we're tackling three unique dating questions from our listeners. Jean-eva is here to offer insights and advice to help you navigate the complex world of relationships.
Question #1: Torn Between the "Nice Guy" and the Ex with ChemistryIn our first question, a listener is dating a great guy who is kind and considerate but lacks the chemistry she's seeking. Her ex, who was hot and cold during their relationship, recently reached out, sparking old feelings. How should she decide between the stable guy and the ex with undeniable chemistry?
Jean-eva discusses:
The importance of chemistry in a relationship and whether it's enough to sustain a healthy partnership. The value of stability, kindness, and consistency in a long-term relationship. How to assess whether the pull toward an ex is due to nostalgia or genuine compatibility. Strategies to help make an informed decision that prioritizes emotional well-being. Question #2: Managing Jealousy in a Healthy RelationshipOur second question comes from a listener who admits to feeling jealous when her boyfriend talks to other women, despite his openness and transparency. She acknowledges her jealousy stems from past experiences of infidelity. How can she overcome these feelings and maintain a healthy relationship with her boyfriend?
Jean-eva explores:
The root causes of jealousy and how past experiences can influence current relationships. The importance of open communication with a partner to discuss feelings of insecurity. Techniques to build self-confidence and trust within a relationship. The significance of recognizing a supportive partner and how to focus on the positive aspects of the relationship. Question #3: Affection and Its Impact on RelationshipsThe third question comes from a listener who feels her affectionate nature might be scaring off potential partners. After hitting it off with a guy, she noticed a shift in his attitude after they slept together on their fourth date. She wonders if her culture's emphasis on affection might be affecting her dating experiences with Canadian men.
Jean-eva discusses:
How affection is actually a benefit when dating How sleeping with someone on any date wouldn't matter with the right person. Advice for pacing relationships and setting personal boundaries to avoid confusion. Understanding that each person's journey to find the right relationship is unique and requires patience and self-acceptance. Closing ThoughtsThank you for joining us on this episode of the Book of Love Podcast. We hope our discussions have provided valuable insights into your dating dilemmas. If you'd like your question featured on a future episode, don't hesitate to reach out to us. Remember, love is a journey, and we're here to help guide you along the way. This week we have another Hotline. We answer three questions from our followers.
Q #1: Hello Jean-eva, I need help, my last partner of seven years was a narcissist. It has been three years since that relationship and I started dating six months ago. I met somebody really great but I think it may be too good to be true. Iām not seeing any signs of him being a narcissist but it is going so well. I have this overwhelming feeling to end it. Am I being crazy?
Q #2: I went on the best first date last week, heās so handsome, I was so attracted to him. I felt instant chemistry and we agreed on almost everything we discussed. He walked me to my car and gave me a hug. I said I had a great time and we should do it again and he said me too, letās do it again! and then we went our separate ways. When I got home I texted him and said I had a great time, thank you so much for dinner, and I havenāt heard from him since. Did I mess it up by sending that text? Did I seem too eager? Also, why would you say letās do it again and then not reach out and plan something, itās so rude. I donāt understand, we had so much chemistryQ #3: Iām an autistic adult and I have a really hard time online dating, I find first dates hard because conversations with me are different from conversations with a neurotypical person and I can never get on a second date. So I added the fact that Iām autistic to my online dating profile, but my matches went down to almost nonexistent. It was the Hinge prompt that said āsomething you should know about meā and I said āIām autisticā almost zero matches then I took it off my profile but would tell someone after a few texts and then they would disappear, what should I do? Iām almost about to give up.

Our fourth and final part of our series on attachment styles. We talk to a woman who resonates with an avoidant attachment style. We discussed qualities that resonate with her, which was very eye opening. Becoming a brick wall, not being vulnerable, being the busiest person in the world and canceling dates last minute. Filling your calendar so full, no romantic connection can ever have the time to truly get to know you. Are you guilty of this? What did you think of this attachment style series? Did you learn something about yourself, or even someone you've dated in the past? If this is your first introduction to attachment styles, I recommend reading the book 'Attached' found at any major book store or Amazon.
-
Our third episode of our four part series on attachment styles. We talk to a single woman who has done the work to move from an insecure attachment to a secure attachment. Every journey from insecure to secure is different, but it always takes time and hard work. Majority of the population is securely attached, but as single individuals dating, we tend to run into a lot of insecure attached individuals, because an insecure attachment does a great job keeping someone single. I learned something new with this guest, and how our brain reacts when we are triggered in life. We also discuss how to teach our brain not to react when being triggered. If there is one word that can describe this episode, it would be EMPATHY. If this is your first introduction to attachment styles, I recommend reading the book 'Attached' found at any major book store or Amazon.
-
Our second episode of our four part series on attachment styles. We talk to another single man who resonates with an anxious attachment style when dating. We get an insider look into the mindset of a man who is dating while anxiously attached. We will hear stories of neediness, clinginess, putting women on a pedestal, and what I call the "disney effect". This is where anxiously attached individuals specifically will meet someone and then quickly create the story of what their fairy tail life with that person will look like, while that person is still a basic stranger. Media and culture shows women doing this, but men do it too! We are still looking for someone with an avoidant attachment for episode three of this four part series. If you, or someone you know want to anonymously join us on the Book of Love Podcast to share your story, please email me at [email protected] If this is your first introduction to attachment styles, I recommend reading the book 'Attached' found at any major book store or Amazon.

Introducing the first episode of our four part series on attachment styles. We start with a single man who resonates with a fearful avoidant attachment style. Avoidant men often get labeled as f&%k boys, narcissists or just jerks. Our guest describes what is going on behind the scenes of dating as a man with a fearful avoidant attachment. He mentions one scenario that described a lot of my personal relationships with men, and it was very powerful to hear the other perspective. Join us for this vulnerable episode from a self aware man.

I'm so happy to be back. Huge apologies for the impromptu four month hiatus, but I'm excited to be back and excited to answer these questions on our Book of Love Hotline. If you are interested in learning more about the Compound Dating Technique community created in January, feel free to follow the following link to learn more: bookoflovecanada.ca/cdt Questions answered on today's hotline: Q#1 : jean-eva I need help. I am a woman in my early 40ās and I have created an amazing life for myself. I have a high paying career, my own house and car, a great group of friends and I am very happy. My issue is, when I date, I canāt find men at my ālevelā. I meet a lot of great guys, but I have yet to meet someone who makes the same amount of money as me or more (200k+). I have dated men in the past that make less than me and it usually turns into an issue. What should I do? Q # 2 : Iāve been seeing this woman for about 3 months. She is my dream woman and I canāt believe she is interested in me. Since we started dating we have seen each other about once a week. I like to put together fun dates and we typically spend Saturday night and Sunday morning together. Around the 6 week mark she started asking me if we could see each other more, or if I could maybe text her more throughout the week. She says she feels disconnected from the time we arenāt together. Iām super busy, and donāt always have time to text, plus I really donāt like texting. If Iām being honest Iām also afraid to be spending more time with her. What if we spend too much time together and she gets bored or annoyed by me. Iāve been told by exes that I can be pretty annoying. What should I do?
Q # 3: Dear Jean-eva, Iāve been dating a new guy for a few months now and things seem to be going really well. So well, in fact, that Iām starting to get worried that this is the best Iām going to get and Iām going to miss out because I donāt feel ready to commit. Iāve been hurt before and I donāt want to relive that. How do I tell if this is the right person for me? I donāt want to string him along, but I donāt want to break things off either. Help me!
What do you think of this advice? Do you agree? Do you disagree? Feel free to share, I would love to hear your thoughts.
Love, Jean-eva

Hello my amazing Book of Love listeners. This episode is an ode to you. At the end of the year, I was experiencing major burnout. So I took the last two weeks reflecting on my year as a matchmaker. I took some time to reflect on all the couples that were created and wanted to share their unique stories that give us hope for 2023. Each couple taught me a lesson, but these specific couples have unique journeys that created a unique mindset to enter 2023 with.

This week is a special episode! We have created a new segment called Sean's Corner. Our male dating coach Sean Aucoin takes over the mic to answer questions from both men and women from the male perspective.
He answers questions such as: 1. It's official, being called a creep is my worst nightmare, how do I approach women without being creepy? 2. We had an amazing date, but he said there was no romantic connection. What the heck?! 3. Why are women so flakey online dating? 4. How can you find a man who wants to date instead of just getting laid? 5. If he sends reactions to my stories, is that a sign of interest?
