Today is Ep#19- Female in business:  Money secrets for the Young  Entrepreneurs with guest Jasmine Young

In this episode we speak with my brilliant and super talented friend Jasmine about finances, money saving and budgeting among other money tips.

    About Jasmine:

Jasmine Young, a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin is a proud graduate of Marquette University where she received her bachelor’s degree in and ‘Criminology and Law’ in 2014 and a master’s degree in ‘Mental Health and Wellness’ from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona in 2019. She is the devoted Mother of one son Zaire her pride and joy.

It was her internship in 2012 where Jasmine had the opportunity to mentor young ladies who had been sex trafficked. Her youngest mentee being 9 years of age sparked her to dedicate a life of helping young women see their true worth and greater purpose. She continued a career that supported her efforts and interned as a juvenile probation and parole officer in the state of Wisconsin from 2014- 2016

While advancing her career, Jasmine launched a mentoring program “Raising Humble Obedient Daring Adolescents” Affectionally known as R.H.O.D.A in 2012 in lieu of her great passion and grief for the youth she had previously worked with. This program offers scholarships for schooling, support group sessions, team building outings, and needed supplies to every young woman enrolled.

May 2016, Jasmine and her family uprooted from Milwaukee and replanted in North Carolina where she would later in June 2018 reintroduce R.H.O.D.A to her new city and home. As a result of much success and growth in October 2020 RHODA’s closest was launched, an online store suppling branded merchandise such as t-shirts, hoodies, and coffee mugs with all proceeds going directly to the R.H.O.D.A generation program.

Most recently Jasmine launched a brand-new business endeavor with a like theme of helping others. Creating budgets, coaching, and bill organization are a few of the services received by clients of FinanceHER a business created to teach, assist, and educate people needing financial freedom and knowledge on how to successfully save and build wealth.

Jasmine’s heart is dedicated to youth everywhere with a focus on young women ages 12-18. Her desire and goal is to continue to successfully and effectively pour into their lives helping them to build a solid foundation and to reach their fullest potential while reminding both her mentees and herself of her favorite life quote, “Don’t let the process punk you out of the promise.”

Today is Ep#18: Domestic Violence Awareness  - A call for help.

This episode was inspired by several podcasts such as 'After Dark' where he speaks with Maheen from www.thisviolenceisnotatragedy.com based in the UK, also by 'Interventions in Domestic Violence' podcast Ep 15 "working with female domestic violence perpetrators" with Dr. David Wexler. By Tony Porter, advocate of the 'A Call to men' https://www.acalltomen.org/about/team/tony-porter/, the story of "Lori", the show 'MAID' on Netflix, NBC news special edition 'Dateline', the story of Lauren McCluskey "She did everything right" https://www.nbcnews.com/dateline/video/full-episode-she-did-everything-right-82536005853 and Hollywood movies such as "Enough" with Jennifer Lopez, all of these have a common denominator: Domestic Violence.

In this episode I speak about Domestic Violence, Tony Porter's 'the collective socialization of men' concept, as well as valuable information from https://www.thehotline.org/ on Abuse and Domestic Violence such as:

What is Abuse?  Recognizing the signs of Abuse Power & Control: Break Free from abuse The Power & Control Wheel Common Signs of Abusive Behavior Get help!  Create a Safety Plan

In this episode I share about how I celebrated Father's Day 2021, 12 qualities Great Fathers have and celebrating father's day without dad.

My dad may not be able to open up a card or present from me today, so my gift to him is to use what he gave me, his knowledge, his love and his lessons and by doing so, I feel like I am honoring his spirit, all he taught me, how he raised me, and how he lived.

“The quality of a father can be seen in the goals, dreams and aspirations he sets not only for himself, but for his family.”– Reed Markham

On Father’s Day, much of the world takes the time to appreciate the work of good fathers. He makes all the difference in a child’s life. He’s a pillar of strength, support and discipline. His work is endless and, oftentimes, thankless. But in the end, it shows in the sound, well-adjusted children he raises. Source: https://successresources.com/12-qualities-great-fathers-have/

In this episode I speak with my friend, fellow instructor, marketing consultant and graphic designer: Ionut, about his 5 rules to a healthier mindset . We will discuss some awesome techniques that have personally helped him develop emotional intelligence.

    From Ionut:

"Hi, I am Ionut! I've been a Zumba instructor for 9 years, and have been fortunate enough to travel and hold Masterclasses in more than 15 different countries around Europe while developing my skills by attending workshops and trainings for different dance and fitness styles (Street Jazz, Cardio Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Afro, also a Salsation and Urbhanize Instructor)

But one of my main points of focus through the years has been mental health, researching and learning more and more, it has become a passion of mine and part of who i am. I am fascinated by emotional intelligence so therefore i decided to try and help people around me with the tricks and tips that i use on a daily basis for a healthier mindset. I guess the thing that brings me most joy in life is helping others and making sure they have it easier than i did. Showing someone that they're not alone is a big part of my life, even if it's through speaking or through my Reggaeton or Afro workshops, i find great joy in sharing my knowledge."

  • Welcome to the Bright N Fit podcast!

Today is episode #6 I will discuss this very interesting topic Imposter (or Impostor) Syndrome -IS, which is an incredible yet not very popular topic.

"Impostor syndrome (IS) refers to an internal experience of believing that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be. While this definition is usually narrowly applied to intelligence and achievement, it has links to perfectionism and the social context.

To put it simply, imposter syndrome is the experience of feeling like a phony—you feel as though at any moment you are going to be found out as a fraud—like you don't belong where you are, and you only got there through dumb luck. It can affect anyone no matter their social status, work background, skill level, or degree of expertise."-Quote from verywellmind.com

"Psychologists Pauline Rose Clance and Suzanne Imes developed the concept, originally termed “imposter phenomenon,” in their 1978 founding study, which focused on high-achieving women. They posited that “despite outstanding academic and professional accomplishments, women who experience the imposter phenomenon persist in believing that they are really not bright and have fooled anyone who thinks otherwise.” Their findings spurred decades of thought leadership, programs, and initiatives to address imposter syndrome in women. Even famous women — from Hollywood superstars such as Charlize Theron and Viola Davis to business leaders such as Sheryl Sandberg and even former First Lady Michelle Obama and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor — have confessed to experiencing it. A Google search yields more than 5 million results and shows solutions ranging from attending conferences to reading books to reciting one’s accomplishments in front of a mirror. What’s less explored is why imposter syndrome exists in the first place and what role workplace systems play in fostering and exacerbating it in women. We think there’s room to question imposter syndrome as the reason women may be inclined to distrust their success.-" From https://hbr.org/2021/02/stop-telling-women-they-have-imposter-syndrome.
