  • Finally, United's slow and agonising drop out of League One is over, as the season comes to a close - but will they be the ones celebrating a return to the third tier in twelve months time?

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee and Dan look back on the final day 2-0 defeat at Derby County - a good solid performance but ultimately, the Rams did just enough to edge the contest and earn their place in the Championship next season.

That's followed by a chat about the retained list, with Simmo showing a ruthless streak in his contract decisions and also admitting he's told other players they can leave - where does it leave the Blues going into the summer break?

On top of that, there's the usual Ex-Blues update.

  • It's official - statistically, this is United's worst ever season in terms of number of defeats. And there's still one game to go...!

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined by Mike Booth and Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to reflect on that 3-1 loss to Wycombe Wanderers in the last home game of the season - a miserable way to finish things off for the Blues at Brunton Park for 23/24, with plenty of discussion about some underwhelming individual performances.

That's followed by a look ahead to this weekend's trip to Derby County for the final home game of the campaign - including a great chat with Jake from the excellent Rams Talk podcast about how their nerves are holding up as they look to get the point that will secure them automatic promotion.

On top of that, there's a news round-up and the usual Ex-Blues update.

  • Let's be honest - we all want the season to end now, don't we? Another miserable afternoon at Brunton Park leaves us with just two more games to get through.

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to look back on the home defeat to Blackpool - not a huge amount to talk about in this game, as all the decent action occurred in the opening 60 seconds!

There's also a look ahead to the final home game of the campaign against Wycombe Wanderers this weekend - including a chat with George from the Wycombe Way podcast about how their season has gone.

On top of that, there's a news round-up - which includes updates from Tom Piatak and a robust discussion about the changes to next season's FA Cup format - and of course, the usual Ex-Blues update.

  • United's slow-lingering death in League One is over, as defeat at Northampton finally confirms what we've all known for a while - it's back to League Two next season.

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee and Mike review the 2-0 loss at the Cobblers as relegation is confirmed for the Blues - with the game itself being pretty dire, it's more of an initial reflection on what has gone wrong this season (which we'll get more in-depth on in a later episode).

That's followed by a look back on the midweek win at Cheltenham and some of the positives to come out of that (along with thoughts on what United can get out of the remaining fixtures).

We then look ahead to the penultimate home game of the season this weekend against Blackpool - including a chat with Nick from the excellent Seasiders Podcast about how their campaign has gone.

As usual, the episode is wrapped up with the ex-Blues update.

  • Rinse and repeat - once again this season, United put in a good performance but follow it up with a below par effort in the next fixture!

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to look back on the Easter fixtures - with plenty of talk about Jon Mellish's hat-trick heroics in the 3-1 win at Peterborough United, followed by discussion on the defensive mistakes that cost us in the 3-1 home loss to in-form Lincoln City.

There's also a look ahead to this back-to--back away fixtures against Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town - this includes a chat with Danny from the excellent "It's All Cobblers To Me" podcast, where we chatted about how well they have coped with the step-up to League One this season.

On top of that, there's a news round-up and the usual Ex-Blues update.

  • So near, yet so far - United miss out on their first home win since New Year's Day as Stevenage equalise with the last kick of the game - but surely there's plenty of positives to take from the performance overall?

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee and Mike reflect on the 2-2 draw against Stevenage - plenty of talk about Daniel Butterworth's recent upturn in form, debate about the penalty decision and a robust discussion about Simmo's substitution policy.

We also look ahead to the Easter weekend clashes with Peterborough United and Lincoln City, including a "Behind Enemy Lines" chat with Charlie from the excellent "Stacey West" Lincoln City blog and pod, where he tells us about the interesting back story of their gaffer Michael Skubala.

Alongside those bits, there is a news round-up and the usual ex-Blues update.

  • There was some good news for United fans this week... the season will be ending two-and-a-half hours earlier than planned! Bad news - we might end our season with a game live on Sky Sports...

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to initially answer your questions, including one about whether we'd rather fight Jon Mellish or Harrison Neal in UFC and another about who we'd like to see the Blues sign this summer.

There's also a look ahead to the weekend clash with play-off chasing Stevenage - including a chat with Matt from the excellent Stevenage FC Podcast about their remarkable first season back in League One after promotion.

  • Apologies that there was no preview for the Shrewsbury game - we were unable to find a time where two of us could record ahead of the match! Instead, here's a three-game review episode for you all to "enjoy" (we use the term very loosely!).

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee and Mike look back on the three consecutive defeats against Charlton Athletic, Barnsley and Shrewsbury Town - three performances that got progressively worse over the space of seven days.

Plenty of reflection on the games and the season itself - where do United go from here, with relegation almost inevitable?

  • A bump back down to earth for United after they follow up the win over Burton with a defeat against Reading, extinguishing the very, very slim hopes of survival even further.

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to look back on 3-1 loss to the Royals and the reality check it provides for United's prospects - what more can Paul Simpson do to arrest the slump and get a bit of pride back into the team?

There's also a look ahead to this weekend's trip to the capital to face in-form Charlton Athletic - we speak to Louis from Charlton Live ahead of the game, discussing their three managers this season and how Macaulay Gillesphey has settled in at The Valley so far.

On top of that, there's a news round-up and the usual Ex-Blues update.

  • The losing run is over! and we finally have a CLEAN SHEET! What kind of witchcraft is this?!

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined by Mike Booth and Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to reflect on the last two fixtures - a 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers with a slightly more encouraging performance, and a battling 1-0 win at Burton Albion. Is this an end to the rot that United have faced since New Year, or just a false dawn?

That's followed by a look ahead to this weekend's home clash with Reading - including a chat with Alex from the excellent Elm Park Royals podcast, as the Royals prepare for their first visit to Brunton Park since the early 1980s.

On top of that, there's a news round-up and the usual Ex-Blues update.

  • Things are going from bad to worse for United in their battle to avoid the drop - seven defeats in a row, is there any hope at all for the Blues to stay in League One next season.

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee and Dan look back on the hugely disappointing 4-0 defeat to Cambridge United, where United's defensive fragility was exposed once again. Can Paul Simpson restore the confidence to his squad ahead of the final run-in?

There's then a look ahead to this weekend's trip south to face Bristol Rovers - we speak to Charlie from the Talking Gas Podcast about what has been an eventful season for the Gas, albeit one that has them comfortably sitting in mid-table (sounds dreamy!).

On top of that, there's a news round-up and the usual Ex-Blues update.

  • An improved performance from United, but a similar result, as Pompey exploit on mistake to snatch all three points. Are there positives to take from the game, or is the struggle to avoid the drop becoming too big of a task for the Blues?

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to look back on 1-0 defeat to Pompey - not many chances created, but not many conceded. We ask whether United's slight tweaks in tactics will be enough to help pull them out of the relegation zone.

That's followed by a look ahead to this weekend's clash with fellow strugglers Cambridge United, including a chat with Jack from the excellent "Under The Abbey Stand" podcast ahead of the big game.

  • It was a miserable trip to the capital for United at the weekend as they lost 3-2 at Leyton Orient - but can Paul Simpson turn things around and perform the "Great Escape" to stay in League One?

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to look back on the loss to the O's - a game with very few chances for the Blues and some pretty limp defending thrown into the bargain.

That's followed by a look ahead to this weekend's clash with table-toppers Portsmouth - this includes a chat with Andy from the excellent PO4Cast Pompey Podcast about how they are getting on this season (pretty well, it turns out).

  • The transfer window has slammed shut and there's been a fair bit of change in United's squad, but will it be enough to help drag the team away from the relegation zone?

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle (recorded before Georgie Kelly and Max Kilsby's transfers were announced), Lee is joined by Mike Booth and Dan MacLennan to discuss the departures of Owen Moxon and Joe Garner, before looking back on the comprehensive defeat to Bolton Wanderers last weekend.

That's followed by a look ahead to this weekend's trip to the capital to face in-form Leyton Orient - we speak to Paul from the Orient Outlook Podcast ahead of this one, discussing how they've adapted to life in the third tier after promotion last season and their long-term hopes for the club.

  • There's no game to review from last weekend after the Cheltenham call-off, but the lads are back and they're taking on your listener questions for the first-part of this episode instead!

In this week's Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined again by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) and we answer some of your queries - from what would happen if we were relegated back to League Two and who our ideal final signing of the window would be, to the funniest thing we've heard at an away game and the former CUFC player we'd least like to be stuck in a lift with, there's plenty covered!

That is of course followed by a preview of the Bolton game, including a chat with Ryan from the Trotter Chatter podcast about their hopes for the second-half of the season and whether they can avoid the play-offs and finish top-two this season.

There's also a news update (including two new signings and the Moxon contract news) and the usual ex-Blues round-up.

  • DISCLAIMER - This episode was recorded on Thursday night, before we knew the Cheltenham game was postponed. The preview section has been removed as a result!

The Cheltenham game has fallen victim to the icy conditions that are currently hitting much of the country, but there's still plenty of stuff for the lads to talk about as they reflect on back-to-back defeats against two promotion contenders.

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle there's lots of discussion about those losses against Oxford and Barnsley - the defeat to the U's was pretty disappointing, but was there positives to take out of a hard-working performance against the Tykes?

Alongside those bits, there is a quick news round-up where we discuss the departure of striker Ryan Edmondson.

  • We've been trailing this one for a little while, but finally last week we were able to fit in some time to record an interview for our latest special episode of The Brunton Bugle!

This time around we were lucky enough to speak to Alice and Tom Piatak II via a video call to Jacksonville, Flordia! There was plenty to discuss with our new owners, including how the takeover happened (including CUOSC ratching through their junk folder!), what they think can be brought over from the fan experience at American sports and some of the exciting things fans can look forward to in the near future!

Big thanks to Alice and Tom for giving up their time to speak to us and also to the club's media team for helping to set this up.

We've got some more interviews hopefully coming in the near future so keep an eye out for those!

  • Not content with beating them in the play-offs last season, United have gone back to Bradford City to pick up their keeper, as Simmo finally gets the new shot stopper he's been craving.

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined again by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) and the main discussion point is the arrival of new first-choice stopper Harry Lewis from the Bantams for an undisclosed fee. There's chat about what Harry will bring to the squad, and also the reaction of the Bradford fans to his departure from West Yorkshire.

That's followed by a look a look back on the defeat to Exeter last time out and a look ahead to this weekend's clash with Oxford United at Brunton Park, along with the usual ex-Blues round-up.

  • The Christmas period is over and United end up with 4 points from a possible twelve - small signs of progress, but it's still going to be a battle to avoid an instant return to League Two this season.

In this episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee and Mike reflect on the 2-0 defeat at Wigan infront of over 4,000 travelling Blues, and the New Year's Day 2-1 home win against Port Vale. Are there a few signs that United have what it takes to avoid the drop?

And if so, will the new additions make a difference? We discuss the three first signings of the window, and the departure of loanee Luke Plange after his half season spell came to an end.

Then there's a look ahead to what will be a huge tie against Exeter City in Devon this weekend. We speak to Grecians fan Sam Parks, who give us the lowdown on why they have slumped so badly having been top at one stage in the early weeks of the season.

Alongside those bits, there is a round-up of the news and the usual ex-Blues section.

  • A Nightmare Before Christmas against Cheltenham, followed by a Boxing Day Stalemate on the seaside at Fleetwood - not a great few days for the Blues as they drop to the bottom of League One, but with the January transfer window set to open, are things about to get better for Simmo's boys?

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined again by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to review the 1-0 home loss to Cheltenham and 1-1 draw at Fleetwood - plenty of discussion about how United drag themselves out of trouble and the on-going problems in the goalkeeper position this season.

That's followed by a look ahead to the final two fixtures of the festive period - a trip to Greater Manchester to renew rivalries with Wigan Athletic, followed by a New Year's Day clash with Port Vale at Brunton Park. We speak to Barry from the excellent Progress with Unity podcast about how the Latics are getting on this season and take a little walk down memory lane to reminisce about the great battles the two sides had in the 1990s.

No news or Ex-Blues update in this episode - they'll return next week!
