Holdinā Buckās shoulder ātil their eyes meet, they wonāt ever be alone.
This week Han, Cil, Rachel, and guest star Meg keep our love for Season 3, Episode 3 of 9-1-1, āThe Searchersā in a photograph buried deep within our souls. We explore how the 118 finds their makeshift family amidst the chaos and navigate the tumultuous waters of Buck's psyche as he contends with his fears and perceived failures during this final installment of the tsunami crisis.
Buck's vulnerability shines through as he pushes himself to the brink, embodying the very definition of tenacity, even while doubting his own worth. We discuss Buckās palpable panic and fear of failing his loved ones, and how he grapples with the burden of responsibility. Throughout these moments, Buck's fierce love for Christopher shines through as he tirelessly follows every sign to find him, showcasing the lengths to which a parental figure will go to protect their child.
Buck's frantic search for Christopher becomes a metaphor for his own quest for validation and acceptance, intertwining the concepts of searching for family and belonging.
The emotional stakes rise (like the tide) as Buck and Eddie's relationship evolves against the backdrop of the unimaginable. We examine Eddieās gentleness and strength as he gives Buck the space to tell him what happened to Christopher without expressing any anger or blame.
We take a microscope to the final scene of the episode for a combined Slow Burn and Scene Dissection. Discussing everything from Eddie's playful jabs trying to put Buck at ease to the meaningful dialogue with intense eye contact and shoulder touch. This balance between humor and heart is a hallmark of their relationship and Eddieās unwavering faith in Buck reminds us that even in our darkest moments, the bonds we forge can guide us like a lighthouse in a storm.
Join us at Buckās kitchen table as we wait for Eddie and Christopher to come home.

Donāt be, donāt be afraid, we promise Buck will keep Chris safe.
All aboard the fire engine life raft! Han, Cil, Rachel, and guest host Niki wade into the waters of Season 3 Episode 2 of 9-1-1 titled, āSink or Swim.ā
Buck is using his firefighter training again, but at what cost? May gets a taste of being a first responder as she helps keep a woman alive while Athena takes charge in a post mani-pedi pileup. Maddie is triaging dispatch and setting up a field hospital while the 118 (minus Buck) are saving lives and surfing waves. The episode cleverly contrasts the innocence of childhood with the harsh realities of adulthood and we highlight how moments of crisis shift perspectives in our favorite characters.
We discuss how the tsunami acts as a catalyst for growth, pushing Buck to reassess his purpose and identity as a guardian. Buck embraces his role as a protector, striving to keep Christopher safe while also confronting his own fears and insecurities. We zoom into how Buck's firefighting instincts serve as both a literal and metaphorical lifeline, enabling him to save several people and most importantly, Christopher, until heās swept away by the receding tide.
Bring your ponchos and arm floaties for this splash zone and make like Dory and Christopher and just keep swimming!

The universe is knocking Buck down and laughing while he cries, and we still donāt know how he even survives.
Itās here, the moment weāve all been waiting for, the Tsunami arc! GOATED. This week Han, Cil, and Rachel dive headfirst into Season 3 of 9-1-1 with Episode 1, āKids Today.ā
Bobby and Athena are enjoying their literal honeymoon period, Maddie and Chimney are getting serious, Hen and Karen are working on expanding their family⦠and then thereās Buck and Eddie. Eddie is partnerless and Buck is jobless, these two things are not related at all.
It starts out so well, with a surprise party for Buck's hard-earned return to the 118, but itās been five minutes since his last near death experience, so the narrative must juxtapose his fleeting moments of joy with the stark reality of his continued hard times.
Bobby's protective nature, while rooted in love, often leaves Buck feeling trapped and misunderstood. We discuss Bobby's projection of his own fears onto Buck and how that leads to a loss of autonomy for Buck, ultimately creating a rift in their relationship.
We dissect how Buck's emotional turmoil and quest for purpose are intricately tied to his calling as a firefighter at the 118 and his relationships with everyone there, particularly Eddie.
This episode starts our exploration of a season-long theme: parental relationships. While Maddie and Chimney discuss maybe having a kid one day, Eddie is taking matters into his own hands and gives Buck a new purpose: taking care of Christopher (although, *this* isnāt what he quite had in mind.)
Buck and Chris have an existential conversation about what Chris wants to be when he grows up and having a purpose in life, but Buck hasnāt learned that his own self worth isnāt tied to firefighting yet. We reflect on the bond thatās forming between them, reminding us that āfamily donāt end with blood.ā
Donāt stand there gawking, catch the wave with us and weāll kick it when we hit the ground.

Please donāt bring us to tears when we just did our podcast so nice. Heartbreak is one thing, your egoās another, we beg you, donāt embarrass us, motherfucker.
This week Tim Minear interrupts your regularly scheduled programming and forces Han, Cil, and Rachel through the five stages of grief as we unpack the emotional wreckage left in the wake of Season 8, Episode 15 of 9-1-1, āLab Rats.ā
This isn't your typical episode; weāre tearing apart the emotional tapestry of the show and discussing why the character Bobby Nash might have met his untimely demise.
We kick things off with denialādid we just witness a heart-wrenching goodbye or a diabolically clever fake-out?
Then we unleash our pent-up anger, calling out the showrunner for potentially misleading us into a false sense of security. Itās not just about plot twists; itās about the heart and soul of the series. Why didnāt they give our beloved captain a proper send-off? Where the hell was Eddie? We critique the pacing of the episode and the rushed emotional reactions of the characters. Weāre all about the depth of characters and their connectionsāwe feel robbed of the gravity such a moment demands.
We appeal to Timās better angels in the form of bargaining, offering potential roadmaps he could utilize to bring Bobby back from the dead and still push everyoneās individual stories forward in similar ways.
Hello depression, our old friend. In this section we share our personal history with fandom grief and the real-life ramifications of losing a character weāve grown to love like a real friend or family member. We reflect on the disappointment of potentially losing the comfort in our comfort show and the healing it brought along with it from past experiences. We take a look at the implications of these narrative choices on the characters and the overall show, and how it ultimately wouldnāt feel like 9-1-1.
The final chapter of the grief journey closes with acceptance, even if itās through gritted teeth. We overview the ālogicā behind the decision to kill off Bobby, what we think Tim is trying to do, and how we can understand it to an extent, but donāt agree or approve of the execution (literally). Weāre just trying to hold the tattered remains of our sanity together!
So, whether youāre crying in your cereal or just feeling a bit off, weāre here to hold your hand and process this togetherābecause who doesnāt need a buddie when tackling the heavy stuff? Just a reminder that it's okay to feel grief over this fictional loss, as these characters have become a very real part of our lives and their journeys resonate with our own.
We know youāre craving some major character death, but the Fire Fam is SO NICE!
We could live so happily, as long as you donāt kill Bobby, weāre just kidding⦠but really. REALLY!

Donāt you know the 118ās still standing better than they ever did? Looking like true survivors, feeling like little kids.
This week, Han, Cil, and Rachel map out the emotional journey of all our favorite characters in Season 2 of 9-1-1! We explore how grief, loss, and trauma shape each characterās arc and how they cope with their pasts while trying to forge their futures.
We highlight the clever parallels between different characterās storylines and how they reflect the overarching themes of āfinding your pathā and āhaving each otherās backsā.
We discuss the impact of key moments and episodes that live in our minds rent free, from LSD hijinx to confronting the ghosts of your past, proving that 9-1-1 isn't just a procedural but a character-driven drama.
The addition of Maddie and Eddie expanded and enriched the found family dynamics we fell in love with throughout Season 1. Buckās struggles with being abandoned⦠again and we dissect how his relationship with Eddie opens up a brand new path in his story.
We hypothesize on āWhat Ifā scenarios, taking a look at the butterfly effect of a single choice. And donāt miss out on the new fears this season unlocked in us!
Hop in the fire engine (just not the Captainās seat) as we look back on Season 2 and how Bobby, Athena, Buck, Eddie, Hen, Chimney, and Maddie choose their lives as first responders with passion and purpose, time and time again.

Duck and cover, because this weekās episode is explosive!
Han, Cil, and Rachel hit the ground running, leaving no stone or fire engine unturned in Season 2 Episode 18, of 9-1-1 āThis Life We Choose.ā
The dirt hasnāt even settled in Shannonās grave when Eddieās parents try to stage the worldās most inappropriate intervention. We tear into the astoundingly bad parenting and its effects on Eddie and how the life and family he chooses is his real support system.
Bobby and Athena put their detective hats on at the beginning of the episode and exchange rings at the end! At least someone at the 118 is having a happy ending. Meanwhile, Maddie and Chimney choose to finally enter the next act of their rom-com as Hen and Karen decide to expand their family.
Buck is having the first of many no good, very bad days when the crushing weight of reality and a fire engine leaves him out of a job and a girlfriend. Who needs any of that when he can have his best friendās back despite his doctorās recommendations. Some things are more important than your health, like hugging your (work) partner.
We talk closet space, because you can never have too much, right Buck and Eddie? Thereās a lot of symbolism, metaphors, and parallels to unpack, but donāt worry, we took a lot of notes and came prepared to share with the class.
This episode is layered like a lasagna of feels from the camaraderie at the station to the heart-stopping moments with Buckās near-death experience, we explore how the life that the 118 chooses shapes them as individuals and a family.
The next time youāre having a bad day, just think about Buck in this episode. Whatās more crushed, his leg, or his heart?

This aināt L.A., aināt no 118, but Eddieās putting his foot down, down, down, down.
Han, Cil, and Rachel take a ride in Eddieās Prius through Season 8, Episode 12 āDisconnectedā and Episode 13 āInvisibleā of 9ā1 as we unpack the dynamics of finding your voice, feeling forgotten, and the weight of familial expectations.
The nightmare of Maddieās kidnapping haunts her dreams and steals her voice. We explore how she navigates through this with the help of Chimney, Athena, and Jee.
Hen is feeling unimportant when everyone but Athena and Eddie forget her birthday. We take a look at how she turns her feelings of hurt and embarrassment into her best birthday yet.
It Girl, Eddie Diaz is the star of this episode as we follow his journey in El Paso ā the struggle to reclaim his identity and confidence in being a father in the face of unattainable expectations. The contrasting parenting styles of Eddie and his parents reveal how generational trauma can affect relationships, making it hard for Eddie to assert himself and advocate for Christopher.
We unpack his latest and greatest hits, including:
Lying to His Kid Part 2
Diving Headfirst Without a Plan
Nervous Yapping
Getting Steamrolled by His Parents
Codependent FaceTimes with His āBest Friendā
And more!
Luckily, Eddie has the good sense to continue taking Buckās advice and communicates with Chris, then fully āDads Upā, FINALLY reuniting the father-son duo.
We hold your hand and tell you the latest foreshadowing for an Eddie (and possibly a Chris) NDE ā the bus is leaving the station at some point and you never know what tree may fall during its route to L.A.!
It may be cloudy and grey in our Buddie Forecast, but we break down our prediction for clearer skies (albeit not necessarily smooth sailing) by the end of the season and the beginning of next!
Grab a Capri Sun as we watch Eddie checkmate his parents and take a big move towards reclaiming his identity and embracing joy.

Buck: No chance, no way, I wonāt say it, no, no.
Us: You swoon, you sigh. Why deny it? Oh-oh.
Buck: Itās too clichĆ©, I wonāt say Iām in love.
This week your muses Han, Cil, and Rachel unpack Buckās latest existential crisisābecause Zeus knows he wonāt. Season 8, Episode 11 of 9-1-1, āHoly Mother of Godā struck a chord so loud we had to devote an entire special episode to it.
We discuss the merits, or lack thereof, when it comes to redeeming parents as Bobbyās āholy motherā makes a reappearance in his life and how he finds forgiveness and understanding in his big olā heart for her⦠despite our protests.
Buck's emotional journey takes center stage as he navigates abandonment issues like a professional crashout artist (he has so much practice yāall). Buck continues to be unsure and unaware of his own feelings, much to Maddieāsāand ourāvisible dismay.
We praise the āThe Return of the Plot Deviceā and break down the eyebrow-raising unconscious confessions his scoff and eyeroll shook out of Buck.
This episode canonically brings Buddie from subtext to text, with Tommy and Maddie addressing the Eddie-shaped elephant in the room, making Buck and the audience ponder if Buck is in love with Eddie and if Eddie is *really* as straight as Buck claims.
Eddie may be in Texas, but his presence is still very much feltāfrom his house Buckās haunting, Buckās ex heās haunting, and on the job where heās haunting poor, poor Ravi.
We also celebrate the fantastic direction by Aisha Hinds, who captures the essence of our favorite characters while implementing her own perspective and artistic flair.
Join the buddies for some spoilery speculation surrounding the latest looks behind-the-scenes of upcoming episodes including a special segment of us spinning out while taking it all in.

Weāre sorry, Shannon canāt come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, cusā sheās dead!
This week, hosts Han, Cil, and Rachel bid farewell to Shannon Diaz and say hello to Eddieās rose-colored glasses. āI guess she was the love of your life.ā āI guess she was?ā Oh, weāre so sure.
Get in losers, weāre discussing Season 2 Episode 17 of 9-1-1, āCareful What You Wish Forā and unpacking the tangled web of relationships, expectations, and the harsh realities of life that hit harder than a runaway vehicle at a crosswalk.
This episode explores how characters cope with tragedy while navigating their own emotional inner worlds, showing us that amidst lifeās unpredictability, friendship and support are what truly matters and sometimes, itās okay to not have all the answers.
We dive deep into Eddieās avoidance of what he truly wants, instead heās focusing on his perceived responsibilities to Christopher and Shannon. Weāre not sure Eddie has ever actually asked himself what he wants or prioritized himself.
Meanwhile, Maddie is grappling with the unfinished aspects of her job at dispatch and missing being able to see that sheās making a difference. Things come full circle when Josh and Sue organize the sweetest (and possibly illegal) intervention, helping her to see her job from a new perspective.
For our scene dissection we look at the 118ās visit to Bobby for Therapy Hour to gripe and groan about Chimās leadership and deal with the temporary loss of Bobby in their professional lives.
We pit Buddie against Bobby & Athena, Maddie & Chimney, and Eddie & Shannon to play the āis this platonic or romanticā comparison game. Spoiler alert, Buck and Eddie are NOT normal about each other.
Buck-le up, and look both ways before you cross, as we drive into the emotional wreckage that Eddie is still reeling from 6 years laterāsheās the loss of his life.

Buck doesnāt want to argue, but he doesnāt want to bite his tongue, heād rather die.
Abandonment Issues McGeeā¢ļø is back at it again, leading to communication failures, subconscious sabotage, and some seriously awkward moments that left us cringing and laughing.
This week weāre hauling ourselves headfirst into the theme of platonic friendship versus whatever the fuck these two are doing, highlighting how Buck and Eddie's dynamic has never been normal, not even for a minute. Han, Cil, and Rachel discuss Season 8, Episode 9 āSob Storiesā and Episode 10 āVoicesā where Maddie goes through an actual horror movie while her brother lives out the first half of a rom-com. Just Buckley sibling things.
Weāre still reeling from Maddie's suspenseful arc that had us on the edge of our seats, in awe of her tenacity as she takes charge and fights for her family while grappling with her own trauma. Her storyline hits an emotional crescendo serving as a reminder that our girl never stops fighting.
Eddieās impending move causes Buckās conflicting feelings to boil over and lash out in pettiness after he overhears Eddie say, āEverything that matters is in Texas.ā We inspect his thought process (or lack thereof) and how itās directly affected by his prior experiences in platonic and romantic relationships alike. In the shortest doggie adoption ever, we meet Blaze, the worldās cutest beagle and discuss how heās a metaphor for Eddie, Buck, and Christopher.
Buck and Eddieās past, present, and future are under the microscope as they face the reality of separation. This narrative is a treasure trove of tropes that we owe to the vision and writing of showrunner Tim Minear and his outstanding team who masterfully crafted 7 years of parallels and symbolism into 2 episodes of television. The use of visual storytelling from the cinematography and props to the blocking and direction packs a very intentional punch right in the Buddie feels.
We navigate the minefield of not-so-subtle hints of something more lurking beneath the surface of Buck and Eddieās āfriendshipā through the sheer quantity and depth of parallels and symbolism.
Then, we take a look at what we know is coming up next, and what we hope to see in our very own Buddie System Forecast.
Hearts are breaking during Buck and Eddieās amicable breakup as they say goodbye in front of a U-Haul. So, lift with your knees, because we did in fact have time to unpack all that. The tension is simmering, the awkwardness is palpable, and Buddie canon is inevitable.

Han, Cil, and Rachel analyze the themes of grief, guilt, redemption, the quest for forgiveness, and how Bobby's life-altering decisions not only shape his character but echo through the lives of those around him.

Get ready to flip your perspective because this episode of 9-1-1 is a real gem!
This week we dive into the hilariously chaotic world of Season 2, Episode 15 'Ocean's 9-1-1', where the 118 are a distraction, and the real heist is our sanity! Bobby and the gang are accused of being part of a plot that spirals out of control, and letās just say, the detectives in this episode are as incompetent as they come!
Weāre all about The Buddie System here (lol), and with Hen in the hot seat facing some serious accusations, youāll want to hear how our favorite first responders back each other upābecause nothing screams āfamilyā like a dash of drama and a sprinkle of whodunit! The detectives' hilariously misguided theories about Athena, Bobby, Buck, Hen, Chimney, Michael, and Eddie highlight the absurdity of assumptions, reminding us to always think outside the box!
Han, Cil, and Rachel explore how this episode flips the usual procedural formula on its head, giving us delightful twists that made us feel like we were watching a movie, with our 118 fam caught in a web of crime, comedy, and confusion. We even imagined what it would be like if Buck, Eddie, and the rest of the squad were to start their own crime syndicate. Spoiler alert: itās as chaotic and hilarious as youād expect!
So grab your detective hats, and letās start from the beginning so we can crack this case wide open.

Ever had a character in a show that just makes you scream, āWhy are you even here?ā
Plot twist: Itās all about Buddie.
Tommy Kinard is the ultimate MacGuffin of the 9-1-1 universe, and weāre going to hold your hand while we break down this plot device! In this weekās episode, Han, Cil, and Rachel explore the intricacies of narrative devices through the lens of Tommyās character ā or lack thereof. With less depth than a kiddie pool, Tommyās role is to showcase Buck's journey of self-discovery and his coming to terms with his bisexuality.
We delve into why Tommyās presence is never really acknowledged as substantial, but merely raises some serious questions about Buckās feelings for Eddie, Eddieās sexuality, and basically anything other than Tommy himself.
From bully to misdirected love interest, Tommyās journey is like a roller coaster that never quite leaves the station. Navigating through his brief moments of impact we see how Tommyās more of a stepping stone than a destination for Buck, with a big fat nothingburger for his own storyline. Join us as we analyze the echoing themes of relationship dynamics, character replacements, and the undeniable fact that sometimes, characters just exist to make the main ones look better.
We tackle everything from the awkward love triangle to the emotional fallout of Buckās first queer relationship and how Tommyās exit finally sets the stage for Buck to realize his feelings about Eddie.
Buck-le up for some laughs, some eye rolls, and a whole lot of āThatās crazy work,ā as we shine a light on Tommyās āquestionableā relevance!

A falling star fell from Eddieās heart and landed in Buckās eyes.
Have you ever wondered what the stars have to say about Buddie? Well, grab your cosmic popcorn because weāre diving deep into the stardust of the universe!
In this special episode Han, Cil, and Rachel are guided by our celestial sage, Chrissy (@kithmet) joining us to unravel the star-crossed mysteries surrounding our favorite 9-1-1 duo.
As we dissect their personalities through the lens of astrology, we uncover the intricate dance of their relationship, exploring themes of emotional vulnerability, the struggle between duty and desire, and the undeniable chemistry that binds them together.
Wondering what zodiac signs have to do with fictional character analysis? Weāre so glad you asked, itās because the stars told us:
Buck is a pathological people-pleaser, always striving for harmony and fairness, while he yearns for a home and family he can really belong to and be truly seen by, while masking his inner turmoil with charm and bravado.
Eddie embodies steadfast loyalty, with a single-minded, all-or-nothing mentality that can get him into trouble with the additional layer of his intense sense of responsibility and conflicting bone-deep desire for real romantic partnership.
And thatās not even scratching the surface!
Whether youāre an astrology novice or a seasoned star-gazer, this episode promises to be a mystical journey through the planets and constellations. Join us for some laughs, some 'aha' moments, and perhaps a little bit of cosmic chaos as we explore how their lives have been shaped by the stars ā influencing their motives, actions, and ultimately, their fates together.
Buck-le up; itās gonna be a wild ride through the galaxy!

I say, āCan you believe it?ā as weāre lying on the couch, āthe Buddie canon we can see it, yes, yes, we can see it now!ā
This week Couch Theory takes center stage as Han, Cil, and Rachel take you on a whimsical journey through the concept that has captured the imagination of Buddie fans since Season 6.
From the couch that symbolizes relationships to the chair that represents his newfound independence, we unravel how Buck's choices (or lack thereof) reflect his emotional journey. In a trademark iconic moment, Christopher points out Buck's lack of a couch, signaling a deeper commentary on adulthood and responsibility. Buck's inability to choose a couch mirrors his seemingly endless challenge in choosing the *right* partners, and we follow the invisible strings tying parallels between his relationships with Eddie and his romantic partners, and how these dynamics play out on the couch.
We explore how the couch serves as a metaphor for intimacy, family dynamics, and emotional distance, highlighting key moments when Buck and Eddie navigate their feelings for each other and their roles as co-parents. Donāt worry, there is plenty of couch symbolism for Eddie as wellāthe Buddies discuss how his proximity and position on the couch mirror his emotional state and his struggles with acceptance and belonging.
Whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual viewer, this exploration of Couch Theory brings new dimensions to understanding Buck and Eddie and their intertwined lives, and inspires a look back on your favorite moments with fresh eyes, leaving you eagerly anticipating the next chapter of their stories.
In our thorough investigation we uncover this underlying truth: sometimes, the best couch is the one right under your nose, waiting for you to sit down and get comfortable. So grab your snacks, settle in, and join us for a deep dive of Buckās psyche via furniture!

How do you go back to basics and move forward at the same time? Why, grow sideways, of course!
This week Han, Cil, and Rachel break down Season 2 Episode 14 of 9-1-1, āBroken.ā Dispatchās CAD system is down for the count, intrinsically transporting our first responders back to the 1900āsāwhere all they had were paper maps, a weird-ass white board system, and an encyclopedic knowledge of the L.A. grid system.
Maddie and Chimney are recovering from the aftermath of āthe Doug of it allā and trying to get back to normal with mixed results. We discuss how they are mourning the new beginning that was ripped away from them, trying to move forward separately while missing the other, and their shared assurances to Hen and Josh that they donāt need to talk about it because they are *Ross voice* āfine.ā
Thereās growing pains in co-dad paradise as Harryās actions put Bobby in a tough spot as he tries to find his footing between being āBest Buddy Bobbyā and āStep-Dad Bobby.ā The Buddies speak on Michaelās own emotional state putting a considerable handicap on his usual level-headednessāand how he and Bobby are able to build a stronger foundation in better understanding one another once they sit down and talk openly over some pie and ice cream.
We look into the ominous foreshadowing for Shannon and Buckās fates later this season and how long the writers nefariously plot ahead of time. Eddie gets a special spotlight in this Slow Burn segment as we explore the ālosing his religionā implications of miracles and praying mentioned in the episode.
The characters might ignore things, but we wonāt. At the end of the day there are worse ways to stay alive.

And then he ran into her knife. He ran into her knife ten times.
Close enough, welcome back Maddie Begins! This week Han, Cil, and Rachel do our best Cell Block Tango into Season 2 Episode 13 of 9-1-1, āFight or Flight.ā Maddie is back in her own personal horror movie: abducted by the abusive spouse she fled, all alone with no one and nothing to support or help her, and losing the hope she rekindled after her marriage snuffed it out.
Meanwhile, Buck and Athena dispatch themselves on the case, which is lucky because the detective in charge seems set on doing less than the bare minimum, assuming this will quickly turn into a murder investigation. We discuss how Buck and Athena wiggle through the loopholes of The System to advocate and facilitate for Maddieās safe return.
Ultimately, Maddie does not know if help is coming, or if it will make it to her in time, so she devises multiple plans to save herself using the observational skills sheās honed in her time at Dispatch. We delve into her emotional and mental state and ascertain how she cycles through the stages of grief, going from from dissociative and resigned to actively fighting back.
If thereās one thing the Buckleys are good at itās improvising! The Buddies admire Maddieās quick-thinking under extreme duress and how she flips Dougās pathetic attempts at manipulation back on him to buy her more time.
We talk about the potential for a dual Buckley near-death experience (NDE) in the upcoming latter half of Season 8 and how that could lead to a bittersweet Madney and Buddie parallel. Chimney recovers in the hospital and the 118 extended family rallies around him in the waiting room. The team reminisce and bond as Hen drops some new Chimney lore, but we are squinting suspiciously at the exchange between Michael and Eddie when they meet, setting off our impeccable gaydar.
If youād have been there, if youād have seen it, we betcha you would have done the same.

Welcome to the Chimney Farewell Tour, where all of his worst memories flash inside his mind!
This week Han, Cil, and Rachel open up the floo and slide right into Season 2 Episode 12 of 9-1-1, āChimney Begins.ā Take a trip with us into Chimneyās brain to relive some of his most defining moments in becoming a firefighter paramedic ā from finding his calling at karaoke night to overcoming adversity at Gerrardās 118 and discovering a passion for being a helper and a healer.
We learn about Chimneyās upbringing, most notably his non-traditional family in the Lees and the brotherly love between him and Kevin. Discover the parallels between Kevin and Buck, their instinct to throw themselves into danger without a second thought and the similarities in how Chimney gives them both the little brother treatment.
Chimneyās father is our latest member inducted into the āBio-Parents Have No Rightsā Club. We discuss Mr. Hanās complete neglect and disinterest in his firstborn son, giving Chimney a lifelong inferiority complex, and its far-reaching effects on how he tries to present himself to friends and family.
We explore our neurodivergent Chimney headcanon which explains his inability to hold down a job, superior pattern recognition, and calm under pressure. Chimney believes heās finally where heās meant to be, but finds himself relegated to āman behindā on every shift, keeping him from earning his stripes as a probationary firefighter which exacerbates Chimneyās feeling of not belonging until Eli takes him under his wing.
The emotional crux of this episode centers around the aftermath of Chimney essentially losing his brother, shaping the man weāve come to know, and how he handles traumatic experiences (like the one heās currently bleeding out from).
Tune in to see Chimney turn his life into folklore as he fights to survive the Horrorsā¢ļøfor the life heās built and the future thatās just within reach.

What if Eddie rolls the stone away? Theyāre gonna crucify him anyway.
We stand before our fellow members of The Tortured Buddies Department once again with a summary of our findings:
Shannon is definitely the loss, not the love of Eddieās life. The sign on Buckās heart is still reserved for Eddie.Abby and #thatman are the smallest people who ever lived.Waltz into the rekindled flames of our second installment of The Tortured Poets Department where we ring in the New Year with some good old fashioned seasonal depression. Han, Cil, and Rachel break down the lyrics of tracks 9 through 16 and discuss how each song relates to our favorite 9-1-1 characters.
This collection of songs focuses on:
Buck and Eddie wrestling with their Abandonment Issuesā¢, self worth and self loathing, and unfortunate romantic endeavors while trying to maintain their relationship with each other. The challenges of breaking free from familial expectations, neglect, emotional abuse, and generational trauma. The performative aspects of Buck and Eddieās lives, the ways they mask their true selves, and repress their feelings and identities, creating a chasm of yearning they canāt seem to fill.We enter into evidence Eddie clinging to his own fake impressionist paintings of heterosexuality and the picture perfect family. Weāre second-hand embarrassed, Eddie please just let Shannon stay buried. (This is unnecessary.)
Sincerely,
The Chairmans of The Tortured Buddies Department

Eddie shouldāve been sent away, but they forgot to come and get him.
We stand before our fellow members of The Tortured Buddies Department with a summary of our findings:
Eddie loves Buck, itās ruining his life.
Buck is fresh out the slammer, but Eddie is leaving him safe and stranded.
Eddieās packing his life away to wait out the shitstorm back in Texas.
Get ready for our first deep dive into the emotional landscape of The Tortured Poets Department, where we bring you great tidings of grief and despair. Han, Cil, and Rachel break down the lyrics of the first eight tracks and discuss how each song relates to our favorite 9-1-1 characters, with a particular emphasis on Eddie and the complexities of his familial and romantic relationships, especially with Buck.
We enter into evidence Eddie Diaz blowing up his life after his best friend told him he wanted to date a man who wasnāt him. Itās not our mental breakdown, itās his, weāre just speaking on it.
Sincerely,
