What was started by BJK in 1974 with a $5,000 check, has grown into a multifaceted organization that has invested over $100 million to help girls and women play, compete, and lead - in sports and beyond.
The Women's Sports Foundation believes that giving girls and women access to sports is not only transformative for them, but also beneficial to society at large.
Through their research, advocacy, and community programming, the WSF continues to illuminate the societal and cultural impact that is made when girls and women play sports.

In episode #84 of đď¸The Business Case For Womenâs Sports, presented by Ally, we sat down with Laura Waters-Brown, a Director at The Collective at Wasserman, and one of the key leaders behind the #WeAreBG Campaign to bring Brittney Griner home safely.
On February 17, 2022, WNBA superstar Brittney Griner was detained upon her arrival in Moscow.
As of April 29, 2022, Griner was officially classified as a Wrongful Detention by the U.S. State Department, which signals that the U.S. government will seek to negotiate her release.
While Griner was detained, the team at Wasserman (the agency that represents Griner) created the campaign #WeAreBG to lobby support to bring her back home.
Almost 100 Wasserman employees were involved in the effort, and the collective campaign ultimately helped activate thousands to write, call, petition, and advocate for Grinerâs release on December 8, 2022.
The campaign has been lauded by the sports industry, and has received recognitions from Hashtag Sports, the Sports Business Journal, PR Daily, and more.

A new survey from Aggregate Sports, in collaboration with market research platform Suzy, found that general sports fans overwhelmingly think brands should support women's sports.
A sample of 1,000 general sports fans (ages 18-65) were polled with the goal of better understanding current consumer perceptions around womenâs sports.
The survey found that:
đž 77% of fans believe that brands should sponsor womenâs sports.
đ¤ 74% of fans believe that brands should sponsor sports equally for women and men.
đ 62% of fans feel better about brands that sponsor womenâs sports.

Marina Paul is on a mission to create more female superheroes - or SPRHRAs. As a lifelong athlete, Marina realized a gap in sports apparel for female athletes.
After interviewing 150+ high-performing female athletes from all different sports, she realized most female athletes had the same concerns.
Marina realized that female athletes waste significant time and energy re-adjusting their sports apparel to fit them since historically, there has been very little sportswear built for how female athletes play, move, and live.
As a result, Marina set-out to create SPRHRA and eliminate the restrictions placed on female athletes.
