What are the benefits and challenges of transitioning from a traditional insurance-based model to a self-pay or out-of-network model in physical therapy?
How do concierge physicians handle referrals and what practices are used to maintain and nurture these relationships?
In this episode of The Dave Kittle Show, Dave Kittle talks with Dr. Michael Gorman about shifting physical therapy practices from insurance-based to self-pay and out-of-network models. They discuss the importance of identifying a practice's niche, building connections with concierge physicians, and using social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok to inform potential patients. They explore the advantages of the self-pay model, including better cash flow, patient commitment, and the ability to better compensate and keep top talent. They also discuss the need for more business education in physical therapy programs and the changing dynamics of healthcare reimbursements.

How do private practices adapt to out-of-network and self-pay models?
What strategies can be employed to attract and retain patients in a self-pay physical therapy model?
This week's The Dave Kittle Show episode, Dave Kittle welcomes back Dr. Michael Gorman on another podcast episode. He is the Founder of iMove PT, a physical therapist, private practice owner, and entrepreneur. He started St Louis Physical Therapy in 2002 and grew it to 7 locations. After 15 years, Michael sold his 7 clinics to a national healthcare company. He continued treating patients in the practice for another 2 and a half years before leaving completely. Michael attempted to acquire Dean Volk’s 2 clinic location practice (Volk PT), however, the Covid pandemic destroyed that potential deal. So, instead he started the iMovePT franchise to provide patients with a one on one treatment experience.

Join us for a special crossover session, "The Breakfast Club," originally recorded on PT Pintcast. I'm your host, Dave Kittle, alongside Anthony (Tony Maritato) Maritato, a seasoned physical therapist, private practice owner, and online business entrepreneur.
