The disciples are confused at best at this point.
But once Christ is crucified it starts to make a little more sense.
When they are called to give up their lifeā¦.. Hold that thought.
What do you think of when you take communion?
It is a blood ritualā¦ you are signing on to give up your life for Jesus just like Jesus did.
This is the blood of the new covenantā¦ Jesus said, your new life is dependent on my deathā¦ I must spill my blood in order for you to be forgivenā¦ and in doing so - if you accept this new covenant you will be also accepting the right of death to follow him.

We allow Gods written Word in which we have taken in to be used by the Holy Spirit. We welcome it, we expect it to become a Rhema word. And we see here that we welcome it to divide our thoughts, emotions, will and plansā¦
Its like thisā¦ it is one thing to have your sister tell you to clean up your room. Its a good sentiment, and she means well but it has little impact on you. There is no true motivation to follow through. These are her wordsā¦ but if she comes into your room and says I just got off the phone with Mom and she said she will be home in 10 minutes and she expects your room to be cleaned or you are groundedā¦ well now there are two mouths speaking. Your sister and your mother. And you guessed it, you will clean your room.
The more I take in Gods word, the more the Holy Spirit can use it in my life and in my battles. Dolnt walk around with a sheath that has no sword in it for the Holy Spirit to wield. TAKE UP, WELCOME AND RECEIVE THE WORD OF GOD FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT TO USE.

Whats your greatest temptationā¦ mine? Simple and its not sexā¦ My wife is good to me. It is a Chocolate cream filled donutā¦ I believe its a Bavarian creme typeā¦ the donut itself is chocolate dough, the frosting is chocolate and the filing is white cream filledā¦ I really donāt know the actual name of this donutā¦ but I will eat them at any time, any where and any place.
Matthew 4 Jesus was tempted by satanā¦
Satan tempted Jesusā¦ why?
Did he really think he would win this fight with Jesusā¦ he would actually pull one over on Jesusā¦ why againā¦ why would he even try?
We hear often that Jesus laid down his humanity and became man. He then lived a sinless life by relying on the Holy Spirit. What am I trying to say? satanās behavior agrees with this. He sees Jesus as a man, vulnerableā¦ just like any other humanā¦ he believes it is possible to get Jesus to sinā¦ Look he didnāt tempt him in heaven? But when he sees that he truly laid down his God nature, gave up his deity while here on earthā¦ satan was like āgame onā.
And satan threw everything including the kitchen sink at him.
He was tested body, soul and spiritā¦
Body - his fleshly appetite
Soul - His ego his reputation
Spirit - who he would worship
Hebrews 4:15 says Jesus was tempted in every wayā¦.
Again I just canāt get over how ballsy it seems to tempt satanā¦ but my mind struggles to see Jesus as humanā¦ but he was. With this truth in mindā¦ my excuses as to why I sin, struggle and fall are up in flamesā¦ Jesus was a manā¦ Im a manā¦
Jesus depended on the Holy Spirit and was sinless
Garth depends on the Holy Spirit and is kinda, a little, well tryingā¦ ok, Im not sinless. Im not saying itās not impossibleā¦ but I also honestly know I donāt always rely in all areas on the Holy Spirit like I should.
My point is this - Jesus was a man just like you.
You are a man just like Jesus.
Jesus lived sinless by dependance on the HS
You and I can live sinless by dependence on the HS

I donāt like being confrontedā¦
I love being confrontedā¦
What do I meanā¦ well most times when people confront you they are being highly emotional and they are trying to bully youā¦ They attack you and not the topic, they try to push your buttonsā¦
But then there are other times when I love confrontationā¦ let me explain.
There is no story, there is no miracle there is no God moment without a confrontation.
There is no miracle without a confrontationā¦
The red sea - confronted with a decisionā¦
Do we fight? Surrender? Swim?ā¦
The feeding of the 5000ā¦ do we just eat the food, do we send the people awayā¦
Peter chained in prison.. do I quit preachingā¦ Do I deny my faithā¦
Elijah and the prophets of Baal (after jezebel killed gods prophets)ā¦ do I let the children of Israel serve Baal, Do I give in, do I throw down
Samson blind and mockedā¦ do I just take it
The blind man yelling at Jesusā¦ does Jesus reprimand him, does Jesus keep walkingā¦
The prostitute at Jesus feetā¦ Does Jesus call her out, donāt touch me,
The samaritan begging for crumbsā¦
Whats your confrontationā¦
Is it a marriage issue?
Is it a child issue?
Is it a money issue?
Is it a health issue?
Is it a work issueā¦ or Boss issue?
Is it an issue of your beliefs on abortion, the USA, the Bible, guns, LGBQTRXYZ crazy.
You know how you hate confrontation with othersā¦ its never fun, its always a little uncomfortableā¦ but it can be a great tool in growth.
However today you are the one confronting you on what you believe and how you will act.
And if you are serious about it- it should be just as uncomfortable -
So this year I have been confronted with issues regarding my ministryā¦ my health, my marriageā¦
When I am confronted with a decision of trusting and moving forward or choosing option BCDEFā¦.
At that moment of confrontation I must ask myself one simple question: Do I want to be more free (DO I WANT TO EXPERIENCE MORE FREEDOM IN MY LIFE) or more enslaved.
So I Create a case in my head of what happens if I do not respond to this confrontation correctly and in a Godly way?
Put yourself in a spot where you realize I MUST LEAN INTO GOD AND TRUST HIM THROUGH THIS CONFRONTATION.
One of the best exercises one of my professors did in Bible college was to have a class of men write out what happens if you are confronted with the option of having an affairā¦ and you say yes.
I wrote mine out in 5 minutesā¦ handed it in, he said not good enough. You didnāt think it throughā¦ so I went back and the HS gave me a download of that confrontationā¦
I PROMISE YOUā¦ I PROMISE YOUā¦ after that I knew I would never have an affairā¦ I saw I tasted what enslavement would be like in that decision.
But here is the kicker when you look at most confrontations in scripture and your own lifeā¦ others are looking on at how you will handle confrontation.
EX. 14 The Children of Israel scream at Mosesā¦ you brought us all the way out here to dieā¦ we could have stayed back in Egypt to dieā¦
Moses basically saysā¦ God will use this confrontation to not only free us, but to eradicate all of our enemies who are pursuing us.

I take blood pressure medicationā¦ Yes, I have high blood pressure. But not because I have a bad heart or high cholesterol or plaque in my arteries.. actually they look great, clear as a bellā¦ but my heart is enlargedā¦ my atrium is to bigā¦ and thats where we are going today.
Hey ever read scripture and get a heart check? When they were looking to find out why I had high blood pressure it was a little bit of a riddle until they took a sonogram of my heartā¦ which was a great day because I led my Muslim Doctor to Christā¦ story for another day. But they did all kinds of tests checking my heartā¦. When I read scripture I get heart checks like thatā¦ and here is one today for us.
Exodus 32:7 The Lord told Moses, āQuick! Go down the mountain! Your people whom you brought from the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. 8 How quickly they have turned away from the way I commanded them to live! They have melted down gold and made a calf, and they have bowed down and sacrificed to it. They are saying, āThese are your gods, O Israel, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.āā
9 Then the Lord said, āI have seen how stubborn and rebellious these people are. 10 Now leave me alone so my fierce anger can blaze against them, and I will destroy them. Then I will make you, Moses, into a great nation.ā
WE can see 3 things clearly here in scripture regarding Man, God and Those greatly used by God.
-1 Men can do stupid thingsā¦. Israel created their own God.. a golden statueā¦ This is after their current God (YWHY- the true and real God) just led them out of Egypt, spit the read sea, drowned their enemies, gave them gold, jewelry, food and booty in their exitā¦ but hey, you knowā¦ its just not good enough. Yes we all can do stupid thingsā¦ and quite regularly for some of us.
-2 God can get mad! We see in scripture where Jesus gets mad. He turned over tables, he cussed out the pharisees and sadducees. He threw over tables, he swung a whip around chasing people out of the temple.
Which meansā¦ we can get God mad. Thats a thought we should reflect onā¦ maybe a later podcast. But here in Exodus we see God wants to wipe out the nation of Israel and start over.
Wowā¦ Im not saying that it sounds like God is poutingā¦ but, wellā¦ this is an extreme response in my mindā¦ which leads us to the 3rd things we see in this scripture.
-3 Moses is given an amazing offer. God says I will make you the father of a great nationā¦ First just let me wipe out Israel. Next I will give you the ability to impregnate some womenā¦ I guess right? Your family tree will grow and grow and grow and you will take over from where the other generation blew itā¦.
How many would jump at that opportunity. But maybe one of the most impressive and most humble and maybe one of the most āGod responsesā in scriptureā¦ Moses says
11 But Moses tried to pacify the Lord his God. āO Lord!ā he said. āWhy are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of Egypt with such great power and such a strong hand? 12 Why let the Egyptians say, āTheir God rescued them with the evil intention of slaughtering them in the mountains and wiping them from the face of the earthā? Turn away from your fierce anger. Change your mind about this terrible disaster you have threatened against your people! 13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You bound yourself with an oath to them, saying, āI will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven. And I will give them all of this land that I have promised to your descendants, and they will possess it forever.āā
14 So the Lord changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had threatened to bring on his people.
Moses could be handed an amazing future, an amazing legacy, an amazing storyā¦ I am sure it would have fed just about anyones egoā¦ (yeah God, Im so much better than those sinnersā¦ killāem all and lets do this) But not Moses, his heart was for the salvation of those people.
What dream, goal hope would you trade to see more people come to Jesusā¦
I am some day going to own 2 or 3 corvettesā¦ at 58, a 63 split window and a 68 removable hard top or T top. Would I trade those dreams for more people to come to Christ? Would I trade my future dream home and cars and guns and boats and the ability to spoil my parents and my kidsā¦ would I trade all that to see more people come to Christā¦.
But donāt miss the pointā¦ these āpeopleā are a pain in the butt to Mosesā¦ they cause him nothing but trouble, they whine, they complain, they donāt follow rules or Gods wordā¦ they want a different leader than Mosesā¦ would you give up your future promise for those people?
You know the people that drive you crazyā¦ they talk behind your back, they gossip, they want nothing more than to see you fail, fall and fizzle out. They revel in your lossā¦ would you give up your dreams for those people to come to Christ?
HEART CHECKā¦ lets put that at the top of our prayer listā¦.

One of the scams happening is you get a bill via email that says you need to pay your bill for your anti virus providerā¦ which is kind of funny that a scammer is scamming you pretend to help you not get scammedā¦ But kind of do the same thing in our spiritual walk.
Romans 9:30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. 32 Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.
Think of itā¦ God paid the bill, and the jews still send him a billā¦. What do I mean exactly?
Same salvation for both Jews and Gentilesā¦ but we go after it different ways. The Jews tried to earn it through the lawā¦ Gentiles had to receive it by faithā¦
WE still tend to receive it and then add our own lawā¦ but this verse says.. you canāt bill God. You canāt send God a bill sayingā¦ hey I did this, I did this, Im good, Im better than most, so you need to give me thisā¦.
The Jews tried to please God by pleasing Godā¦ I know right.But thats the truth. They failed to realize that you cannot obtain right standing with God by what you doā¦
Yes we hear a lot about right standing with God.. yes we need to pursue thisā¦ but not by our own effortsā¦ but rather by acknowledging to God that we cannot do it without him.
So what pleases God? Choosing to rely on him in order to please him.
How do you live a sinless life?
How do you heal people?
How do you not lust?
How do you not be greedy?
How do you respond in love to those who hurt you?
You donāt earn it.
You canāt send him a bill showing him how well you have behavedā¦.
BUT YOU CAN SEND HIM A BILL MARKED PAIDā¦ of course he is the one who paid it with his own blood, but it is as good as paid if you trust that he paid it.

Renew your mindā¦
Welpā¦ you heard it here first. Its all on you. You are to blame or to blessā¦ but again its clearā¦YOU renew your mindā¦ donāt blame me.
If you go to the gym one day for 3 hoursā¦ you will not change one bitā¦ but you will be very tired.
If you go 3 daysā¦ no change
If you go 3 weeksā¦ no change
If you go 3 monthsā¦ a little change
If you go 3 yearsā¦ you may not believe what you look like
And in some type of twilight zone world if you could work out your whole life and compare it to you not working out your whole lifeā¦ you would not recognize yourself.
Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godās will isāhis good, pleasing and perfect will.
New Living Translation
Donāt copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know Godās will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Look we all have seen kids just succumb to conformityā¦ they slowly dress, talk, act like all the other cool kidsā¦ maybe if its our kid we think its harmlessā¦ or maybe we put a stop to itā¦ but what is most baffling to me - I hang around a lot of men who are just as easily swept up into conformityā¦
They watch the same crap, they have the same lazy schedule, they drink the same stuff at the same time at the same place, they complain about the same things, they dream of the same things, they have the same wishes and fearsā¦.
Dude, you are just like everyone else. You have conformed to the pattern of this world.
What if I told you that you don't have to have all your wishes granted or all your dreams come true to be fulfilled and to have a life that drives you with enthusiasm.
But its up to you.
You renew your mindā¦
The truth is we are all renewing our mind.. its just some of us are renewing it with fodder, garbage, the mundane.
Whats the outcome of a happy life? Simple we know and do the will of God. If I am living in Gods will I know I will feel fulfilled, I know I have a purpose greater than myselfā¦ I know I am driven by the supernatural and empowered by GOdā¦ and how does this happenā¦ oh yea, what does the verse say? By the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and know Gods perfect willā¦

When I was a kid I thought burning my hand was the worst pain you could ever have. At the time it was in fact the worst pain I had ever experienced. Time when byā¦ I tore my achillesā¦ that hurt, then I broke my neck and I had bolts put in my headā¦ thats gotta be the worst pain in the worldā¦. Nah, were just warming up.
I have had 18 surgeries, I have had 16 herniasā¦ 14 all at once. 16 months of chemoā¦ and so so much moreā¦ and now rehabbing my shoulder every dayā¦ every dayā¦ every dayā¦
Now I have a whole new respect for the NFL Quarterback Alex Smithā¦ 18 surgeries just on his leg. Fighting a flesh eating disease racing to his organsā¦ an open woundā¦ and I mean if you have seen the picturesā¦ it is utterly graphicā¦ open to the bone, muscles and ligaments exposed for weeksā¦
But thats only one kind of painā¦ no one likes physical pain. But do you remember that break up, or that fight with your spouse. You remember the pain of watching your kids get hurt. The pain of losing your job, not being able to pay bills. Maybe you have pain from following Christā¦ you get mocked, you get fired, you get martyredā¦ is it worth it?
2 Corinthians 4:17,18For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; ā¦
You gotta love the apostle Paul and I hope we can all live up to this verse. Here is a follower of Christ who has been
2 Cor. 11:in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. 24 From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; 26 in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27 in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakednessā 28 besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches. 29 Who is weak, and I am not weak?
And he saysā¦ eh it was just for a moment compared to the glory we will experience.

I am sure what we are suffering now cannot compare with the glory that will be shown to us.
Scarfaceā¦ Tony Montana meets Frank his boss for the first timeā¦ Tony just about got cut up to pieces with a chainsawā¦ within the first meeting Frank says ānot to mention that job you did for meā¦ with that SOBā¦.
You donāt have to mention itā¦ That was funā¦

I got a feeling when we get up to heaven it might happen that Jesus says āwelcome, and thanks for that job you did for meā¦ well done thy good and faithfulā¦ AND YOU WILL INTERRUPT HIM LOOKING AROUND AT HEAVEN, AT JESUS AT THE FATHERā¦ AND YOU WILL REALIZEā¦ THAT WAS FUNā¦ YOU DONāT HAVE TO MENTION ITā¦ WHAT WAS FUN.
When will we get it through our thick skulls, he is worthyā¦ no matter what. No matter whatā¦ no matter whatā¦ whatever happensā¦ take your best shot, hurt me, my family, my loved onesā¦ He is worth it.

If you do not lead your expectations then they simply become unrealistic expectations.
- You must harness your unrealistic expectations
Here is what happens when you lead your expectations. You see the decision as a chess player you see it in 3D. You see what you want in the future and how to make decisions and lead yourself there. Now the problem with those around you- be it family, friends, people at work or on social mediaā¦ is that ā see it as a checkers move. A to Bā¦ but that is not leading your expectationsā¦ let me give you a real life example.
*Your Mom tells your daughter to hug uncle Bobby as you are leaving thanksgivingā¦ - she is a 4 year oldā¦ that is a checkers move by your mom. You get pressure from other family members at that momentā¦ tell her to hug uncle Bobbyā¦ Our family is an affectionate familyā¦ teach her to love her family etc.. etc.. and other Checker move thoughtsā¦
A chess move is what do you expect for your daughter 10 years from now, 15 years from now and even 25 years from nowā¦ āyou tell her you never have to hug a man you donāt feel comfortable withā. Relatives will get mad because they see checkersā¦ you see chess.
I WANT MY DAUGHTER TO LEARN TO SAY NO TO MEN- ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO PHYSICAL TOUCH. I never want my daughter to feel like she has to do something that she feels uncomfortable withā¦ especially when it is regarding her body.
You lead best by designā¦ Which means you have it planned out ahead of time.
Who do you want to marry, where do you want to work, What kind of Dad do you want to beā¦
What does scripture say? Lead according to it.
I heard a story of a young man who was working a basic construction job at the age of 21ā¦ he tried college but it just wasnāt for him. He liked construction and decided he wanted it as a career. Early on most weeks his co-workers would go out every Friday night after work to the barā¦ He never did, but after a few months he started asking around āhow much money do you spend on average at the bar during the week?ā The average was about $100 a weekā¦ that dumbfounded himā¦ but he was wanting to lead his expectations - so on a whim he decided to simply invest $100 a week in a basic mutual fund. He worked construction for 20 plus years and his friends never stopped drinking and he never stopped investingā¦
They are all now alcoholics and he is a millionaire.
He learned to lead his expectationsā¦
A couple quick questionsā¦ what do you expect to happen they way you are leading your health? Family? Marriage? Job? Spiritual walk?

A politician who is worth millions but tells the average blue collar American to quit whiningā¦
I have problems with these people.
What really matters as a follower of Christ?
Recent conversations with pastors, church members and local congregantsā¦ some churches getting smaller, going back to one serviceā¦ budgets shrinkingā¦
We have been getting some transfer growthā¦ some due to people running to the next big thing - and some leaving dead churchesā¦ but thats not what matters. I can honestly sayā¦ I want non christians to come to my church and experience Jesus and give their hearts to Christā¦ thats all I care about. Our budget is primarily for the non christian. Our sermons are biblical and applicable but always have the non christian in mind.
What does this have to do with meā¦
What really matters in your life as a follower of Jesus. Do you think when you get to heaven God is going to say you were such a great follower of Christā¦ you read, you prayed, sought my will, you love me and you loved othersā¦ you were sacrificialā¦ OH AND YOU LEAD NO ONE TO CHRISTā¦ YOU NEVER SHARED THE GOSPELā¦IM NOT SURE YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS.
Where do we get the idea that we can be a person who stands before God and he says āwell done thy good and faithful servantāā¦. But we never took his number one command to heart, and didnāt just do it, but lived it, breathed it - made it our mission, our life. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE CALLED TO DO. That is what the original disciples stood for, preached and died for.
If Jesus is really that good then why are you not tell others about himā¦. Or maybe he is just an insurance policy for you. Maybe its easiest, you get blessings, and peace and love and forgivenessā¦
Shame on youā¦
Jesus cannot be who he said he was, do what he did, prove what he is ā¦.AND YOU CLAIM HIM AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR AND YOU DONāT FEEL THE NEED TO SHARE HIM?
My wife is smoking hot, she is beautiful, she has got a body that knocks me off my feet, she is a beautiful blonde, with curves that a Ferrari canāt handle, she has the best smileā¦ she smells like sex, she is sweet, innocent, tender, loving and moreā¦ but Im to embarrassed of her to introduce you to herā¦ you may not think she is that pretty, it might offend youā¦. That says more about me than my wife.

Deny: To contradict by your behaviorā¦ to not confess him to others.
i.e. you can say you are a Christian all you wantā¦ but if you are not in such belief of that - that you are not sharing Christ on a regular basis then you are not a follower of Christ.
Social media influencersā¦ by far the majority post sweet, nice, motivating and biblical postsā¦ that are void of the gospelā¦
Again, that is like me posting things on marriage because I am a marriage expert, but I never share anything about my wife or my marriageā¦ and in fact I am embarrassed of herā¦ I might lose followers on my social media channel if I talk about my wifeā¦

Who cares? And why would you?
Life can grind you down thru well meaning know it alls.
Who are these peopleā¦ they are the experts, the pros, the intelligent people.
Most of these people are smart or successful by accident or luck. There are lots of smart people who never worked for it, as well as successful, and rich.
Ignore these people. What if The disciples listened to the experts, the crowds, the teachers of the law, the pharisees and sadduceesā¦. Even Jesus own familyā¦ the disciples would have turned and run.
But practically speaking when you do a deep dive into success be it in chess, business, entrepreneurship, relationships, exerciseā¦ whatever it is. These people were all told not to do it. I heard Robert Kyisoki once say that 99% of all inventions would have never come to be if people had listened to the expertsā¦ the proās, the intelligent. I have to agree.
I want to hear Gods voice more.
I want to heal more people.
I want to make a billion dollars.
I want to win 1 million people to Christ.
I want to start a media company.
I want to employ my sons.
I want to build my wifeās dream house.
I want to raise people from the dead.
I want to start a revivalā¦.
I want to write a book for men that changes our country and is a best seller.
These are truly things I am believing forā¦ but guess what the experts are saying?
Dude, you donāt have enough time, you are not smart enough, it will never happenā¦
I love what Louie Simmons said āif you train with the lame you will end up walking with a limpā.
If you allow the experts to plan your futureā¦ it will be hell on earth. If you are willing to just trust God and go for itā¦ you will be surprised at what grows in your life.
