At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Emma McKeon became Australia’s most successful Olympian of all time.
Her 11 Olympic medals overall broke the previous Australian record of nine from Ian Thorpe and Leisel Jones over the course of their careers.
A failed attempt to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics was one of many moments where Emma chose to walk away from the sport, but it was her Olympic goal that always drew her back. Sport and the Olympics is a moment in time that unites people and creates such a strong community for the athletes.
This series is presented by Nike, championing athletes like Emma, listening to athlete’s needs and supporting them throughout all their journeys.
A true honour to sit down and chat with Emma to learn more about her journey through self-criticism, doubt and overwhelming pressure to becoming the most decorated Olympian in our countries’ history.

With the dream of winning an olympic gold medal, Jakara Anthony decided as a teenager that she would start skiing full-time.
By 2022 she recorded the most successful season by an Australian winter sports athlete in history.
At the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, Jakara won every round of the competition to become just Australia's sixth ever winter gold medallist, and the first since Lydia Lassila in 2010.
In the 2023-2024 World Cup season, she won an incredible 14 World Cup events, which is the most ever by a mogul skier in a single season.
I absolutely loved hearing more about the way Jakara prepares to perform. For her, it’s not about the podiums and the records, it’s about challenging what is possible not only for her, but for women in the sport as a whole. At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, goalkeeper Lydia Williams, alongside teammate Claire Polkinghorne, became the first Australian footballer (man or woman) to play at FIVE FIFA World Cups.
Lydia is a proud Noongar woman who was born in Katanning, WA, but lived most of her childhood years in Kalgoorlie, a small town north-east of Perth.
In 2022, she became the first female goalkeeper to register 100 caps for Australia, and just the second Indigenous player to do so after Kyah Simon a few months earlier.
On top of an incredible Matildas’ resume, she’s had an extensive career overseas, with clubs including Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
I absolutely loved the chance to sit down and chat with Lydia, she’s really calm and composed, and reflects beautifully not only on her career to date, but on the legacy she hopes to leave, in particular for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids.
