In this episode, we sit down with Tim Moffatt, a runner who took a unique path into the world of endurance running. Timâs story is inspiring, not just because of his achievements in running, but because of his journey growing up with two wheelchair-bound parents, which shaped his outlook on life and his approach to challenges.
Tim shares how, as a kid, he hated sports but always found joy in walking everywhere, often pushing himself to cover long distances on foot. This love for walking eventually morphed into a passion for running, spurred by the encouragement of friends. His first run was an impulsive 12km race, and from there, his running journey took off.
Tim talks about his experience in road marathons, and how he transitioned into trail running and ultra-endurance events. His story is filled with moments of resilience and determination, like completing the challenging UTA 100km race after never having run a trail race before! Today's tip guides you through a technique designed to bring deep relaxation and heightened mindfulness. Begin by finding a comfortable position, whether sitting or lying down, and gently close your eyes. Slowly direct your attention to different parts of your body, starting from your toes and gradually moving up to your head.
As you focus on each area, notice any tension, discomfort, or sensations, and gently release them with each breath. This practice not only fosters a profound sense of relaxation but also helps you connect with and understand your body more intimately.
