Louis Tillett is a "Dark Giant" - according to Rolling Stone UK 2000. Not only is he an imposing figure of a man, albeit quietly spoken, but his music is also dark, and Epic. He has been largely enigmatic until recent years. Now you will find him on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, iTunes and of course at www.louistillettmusic.com and www.louistillett.com.This podcast is yet another attempt to bring his fans into his personal world after many years in between gigs, where he was seemingly in the wilderness. In 2015 he launched his eleven-piece band "The Art of Darkness" by way of a thank you to his many fans who saved him from being left homeless and worse due to extenuating circumstances...by getting behind him with an overwhelmingly successful crowd funding campaign. Thanks to his thousands of fans coming out of the woodwork, he has gone from strength to strength...which is why he has made a point of sharing more of himself with them. This podcast is the first-hand account of Louis' life as a Musician and Composer, while walking along a very rocky road, on a "Dead End Street in the Lucky Country" that is Australia. However, his life as an Underground Recording Artist has introduced many interesting people and places to his life. This is HIS story. No pitch. No pretense. And some cold, hard truths and dark secrets that will shock many of his fans, and even friends. We begin with 11 low key interviews conducted in 2009, while Louis was living in a hut in the Mountains of the mid-North Coastal hinterlands of Australia. If you would like more insights into Louis and his music, you can visit either of his websites or follow and support him on Patreon. See the donation box here...with the heart on it. Music Life and Times, an ongoing discussion between internationally renowned jazz pianist Kevin Bales, and Mike Shaw, singer-pianist and author of the novel The Musician, argues that becoming an accomplished musician takes three commitments: discipline, self-acceptance or self-confidence, and cooperation. They are also the life lessons that music teaches those who would learn to play. Our podcast seeks to prove the premise through revelations about music and musicians past and present as well as from our own experiences as career musicians.

Across over ten years of going to shows, I've met countless fascinating people that are joined together by the fact I love their music. This is a medium in which I look to find out the bigger picture, the extended story and the journey that brought them to where they are. No genre or topic is off limits. I'm David James Young - and all my friends are in bar bands.
