There was no bigger band in the UK and Australia in the early seventies than Slade and lead singer Noddy Holder was a superstar. At 78, he still is. Noddy shares memories of some amazing times, including how the first song he ever wrote became the band's biggest hit, getting his MBE at the palace, the unusual perks of getting the keys to his hometown Walsall, plus touring Australia back in the day. Noddy still performs occasionally and has lost none of his rock star charm, as you'll hear in what was a pinch-yourself experience for Kevin, a massive fan even before seeing Slade live at Brisbane's Lang Park in January 1973. Get down and get with Noddy and Kev in this most entertaining episode of The H Files.

The Animals were one of the most successful and influential British invasion bands of the sixties. Iconic songs like House of the Rising Sun, We've Gotta Get Out of This Place and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood have stood the test of time and original drummer John Steel reminisces about the good and bad times. Meeting Eric Burdon at Newcastle College of Art & Design in his teens, the story behind finding and recording House of the Rising Sun and who made the money from the success, how it all fell apart and his relationships today with Burdon and original keyboard player Alan Price. It is a peek inside a never-to-be-repeated musical experience with a man who saw it all.
Jane Gazzo is a popular radio, television and music presenter as well as author and via the latter, Jane talks to Kevin about her latest book I Hear Motion - Bands that Soundtracked our lives 1980 -1989. A decade of big hair, big songs and big bands that deserve the same reverence afforded many who preceded and followed them. From Pseudo Echo to Models to Painters and Dockers, Jane lived it and has given it new life with the stories in her book.

When you have seven Top Ten hits in a row, you have to be doing something right and Gary Lewis did just that in an extraordinary chart run in the sixties. His success had nothing to do with his famous surname ... oh yeah, he is the son of legendary comedy performer Jerry Lewis. Gary gave the world This Diamond Ring, Everybody Loves a Clown, She's Just my Style and Green Grass among a string of pop classics. In a very candid conversation, Gary talks about the fractured relationship with his famous father and the highs and lows of pop stardom, from Number One records to having to get a real job and being drafted by Uncle Sam.

I am an unashamed fan of America and have been since the very first time I heard A Horse with No Name on Brisbane AM radio in the seventies. The harmonies, the songs and their story appealed to me and playing their songs on the radio was always a joy. You can imagine what a thrill it was to finally get to speak to the one and only Gerry Beckley. An original founding member of the trio and then one half of the duo who have, until recently, been performing live all over the globe. With Dewey Bunnell and the late Dan Peek, Gerry sang, wrote and recorded the America classics - Sister Golden Hair, I Need You, Ventura Highway, Tin Man and You Can Do Magic. Kevin and Gerry chat about the beginnings of the group, the songs and the people they met along the way, a who's who of the music biz and what is coming up in his future now his touring days are over.

She's Not There introduced The Zombies to the music public and it is a love affair that has endured to today, some 60 years later. Singer, songwriter and founding member of The Zombies Colin Blunstone joins Kevin for a fascinating chat about The Zombies from go to whoa. The recent health battles of Rod Argent have seen the band call an end to their days on the road. Colin shares stories of forming the band, finding the name, writing and recording those classics like She's Not There, Time of the Season and Tell Her No plus imposter bands, a documentary and podcast series.

"Write a song that will outlive you and me" said Sly Stallone to Jim Peterik. The story behind Jim's iconic song Eye of the Tiger is just one of the tales he shares in this incredibly entertaining chat with Kevin. Jim brought his guitar and highlights some of his other chart topping smash hits including Vehicle by The Ides of March.
Gary U.S. Bonds has been making memorable music since the early sixties, a time when being a black singer in the USA came with very different social challenges. Gary recalls dealing with segregation on the road, his days touring and learning from Sam Cooke and of course his life-changing hook up with Bruce Springsteen - a partnership that revitalised his career and introduced his music to a whole new generation.
You know their songs, now meet the men: Jim Peterik and Gary U.S. Bonds.

Episode 2 is jam packed with exceptional guests.
He is not the Messiah or a very naughty boy, he is comedy icon Eric Idle. The Monty Python superstar is about to tour his latest one man show across Australia. Kevin was thrilled to have a chat about life, death, Elvis and the Beatles.
Best remembered for her role as Jaime Sommers in The Bionic Woman, the star of the show Lindsay Wagner tells Kevin about the continuing fascination for the ground breaking show, some risky stunt work and how she discovered Vegemite.
And to finish, in demand session bassist Matt Bissonette - who has played with everyone from Elton to ELO to Brian Wilson - has a new band called The Reddcoats. He talks about his incredible career path and the music he is making now between gigs with the touring superstars.

Pete Best is my first guest on the H Files with Kevin Hillier and, as a total Beatles baby, it is a great thrill to bring the stories and memories of the band's original drummer back, some sixty years on. Pete takes us from the beginnings in Liverpool to Hamburg and back to the Cavern Club just prior to The Beatles' fame and and his unceremonious sacking. Pete shares the still raw emotions of that event, plus the good times in Germany and life after, as he watched John, Paul, George and Ringo musically conquer the world.
As you will hear, Pete is not bitter and has had a great life in music and beyond, including a new hospitality venture in the original Casbah Coffee Club, such a pivotal part of the Beatles history.
