Donald Trump forces through a Gaza ceasefire upon returning to the White House. Then he almost immediately allows Israel to break the deal and resume the violence while posting AI videos of him and Netanyahu catching rays at a Gaza Resort city. They boldly claim they’re about to wipe the Houthis from the face of the Earth, then a few weeks (and a few lost multi-billion dollar airplanes) later he’s publicly praising their bravery and negotiating a new deal, while simultaneously reengaging with Hamas, which enrages Israel officials. Does any of this make sense? Is there a strategy at play here, or is this just the chaos that follows from a guy who is simply listening to the advice of the last person he spoke to? Ken Klippenstein unfortunately returns to the show to discuss.
Also: updates on the trade war, aging Democrats, the FBI getting defunded, the American Pope and much more.

During the Biden Administration there were brief moments of hope that the US Government could meaningfully act to address the growing student debt crisis affecting millions of Americans. If you can believe it, they opted for a more targeted means-tested approach that failed to address the issue, and now these current and former students are facing down …

After some banter about the LA Lakers’ disappointing first round exit from the NBA playoffs, we get into Donald Trump’s insane interview with Terry Moran from ABC news about his first 100 days in office in which he fixates on obviously fake MS-13 tattoos and cratering US tourism numbers. We also talk about the White House MAGA influencer briefing, the Podcast Question, the End Oligarchy events, Greg Abbott insisting that it is anti-semitic for a Texas city to want to spend tax revenue on social services rather than sending it to the IDF, and much more.

Returning guest Gaby Del Valle of The Verge is one of our go-to sources to talk about the crossover between the tech dystopia and America’s increasingly nightmarish deportation machine. As much as it would be nice to never talk or think about Elon Musk ever again, he’s turned a major online communications network into a reactionary propaganda machine and has fully embedded himself into the US government, so unfortunately we have to keep doing it. To do so today, Rob spoke to Evan Loves Worf, one of his primary online antagonists, about when we realized this man was not the altrustic supergenius he was originally marketed as, his work with DOGE, and much more. We also talked quite a bit about Star Trek.

At the beginning of this century’s technological revolution, we were told that it would all result in a future world of luxury and convenience for everyone. A few decades later and it’s safe to say that is not what ended up happening. What went wrong, exactly? Mike Pepi, author of Against Platforms: Surviving Digital Utopia is here to talk to Jordan about it.
Also, Rob talks about the currently-unfolding Trump admin Group Chat scandal and what we can learn from the way that people in the media and politics are talking about it, and updates listeners on the start of Canadian election season.
