Steve Bannon pleaded guilty on Tuesday to defrauding donors to a private effort to build a wall on the U.S. southern border, ending a case the conservative strategist decried as a "political persecution."
Bannon, a longtime ally of President Donald Trump, pleaded guilty in state court in Manhattan to one count of scheme to defraud, a low-level felony. Spared from jail as part of a plea deal, he left court saying he "felt like a million bucks."
In this conversation with Jimmy, Bannon insists the prosecution was politically motivated and his relatively light sentence proves how weak the case against him was.

On a recent episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart advised Democrats that if they want to regain office, they need to chill a little on the fascist talk and actually offer an alternative.
The late-night host showed clips of news anchors and Democratic voices talking about the âlate Friday night purge,â where President Donald Trump fired at least 17 inspectors general. Reacting to the news, Stewart pulled out a prop axe and screamed, âTrump has ushered in the purge!â
âI, for one, will take full advantage by doing some unpermitted lawn work,â he joked. âAlthough, just in case Iâm misinterpreting, what is this purge about, exactly?â
When realizing what Trumpâs âpurgeâ was really about, Stewart reacted in mock horror, yelling, âNo! He got rid of 17 inspectors general? That only leavesâno one knows how many left. I have no idea.â
Jimmy and Americansâ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss how even liberal icon Jon Stewart sees the level of Trump Derangement Syndrome flowing through the Democratic Party.

"We'll own it ... We have an opportunity to do something that could be phenomenal ... the Riviera of the Middle East."
Secondly, Trump said that the entire 1.8 million plus population of Gaza would be relocated to other countries.

Not surprisingly, it has been primarily Democratic Senators asking tough questions of Robert Kennedy Jr. during his confirmation hearings to become Secretary of Health and Human Services under Trump. What may be surprising, however, is how poorly this questioning is going for the Senators, including Senator Lujan of New Mexico, who apparently didnât understand that the HHS director has no control over Medicaid spending levels, and Nevadaâs Senator Cortez Musto, who was lectured by RFK about the epidemic of childhood illness in this country.
Jimmy breaks down some of the Dem Senatorsâ more glaring failures during the RFK Jr. confirmation hearing.
Plus additional segments on Liz Warrenâs full-throated defense of the pharmaceutical industry in her attacks on Kennedy and a Bill Gates-backed petition full of phony names purported to belong to accredited physicians attacking the RFK nomination.

Even as Palestinians are beginning to return to their bombed-out homes in northern Gaza, President Donald Trump has said he wants to take those Palestinians out of Gaza and resettle them in Egypt and Jordan. Trump said he had made this request to Jordan's King Abdullah and planned to ask Egypt's president on Sunday, too.
Describing Gaza as a "demolition site", Trump said: "You're talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing". He added that the move "could be temporary" or "could be long-term". Both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority condemned the proposal. Jordan and Egypt have also rejected the idea.

Dr. Scott Gottlieb is a poster child for the revolving door between government and industry, having served as head of the FDA under Trump before taking a high-paying gig on the board of Pfizer. One area of contention within the MAGA movement is over the question of Israel. Many Trump supporters are adamantly anti-Israel and wish to sever the close ties between the US and the Jewish state. "I live here, governor. That was my daughter's school. Governor, please tell me what you're going to do," she pleaded with Newsom.
The governor responded, "I'm literally talking to the president right now to specifically answer the question of what we can do for you and your daughter."

According to authorities, the recent New Yearâs attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas are likely the work of ISIS and Al Qaeda, who are determined to initiate attacks on the U.S. homeland and terrorize the American populace. According to investigative journalist and author Whitney Webb, however, these incidents actually have the hallmarks of U.S. and Israel-based intelligence operations, although the objective â terrifying the American people â remains the same.

Popular comedian Whitney Cummings caused quite a stir during the recent CNN New Yearâs Eve broadcast with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen as she hilariously gored sacred cows left and right, alternately skewering Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the Democrats over the massive coverup of Bidenâs dementia, Pfizer for pushing a vaccine of dubious efficacy on the whole country and even CNN itself for plummeting ratings.
Whitney joins Jimmy and Americansâ Comedian Kurt Metzger to discuss her now-legendary performance and the pushback sheâs inevitably received for promoting âconspiracy theories.â

The number of homeless in the United States has grown by a third during the Biden years despite steady economic growth since the end of the pandemic. So how did this happen? Why did a rising tide not only fail to lift all boats, but now threatens to drown an even greater number of Americans living on the margins -- and under bridges, on sidewalks and in their cars?
Jimmy speaks with Food Not Bombs founder Keith McHenry about the history of homelessness, why the problem remains so entrenched in the U.S. and why purported attempts to solve it have failed so spectacularly.
Jimmy and McHenry then discuss where the tens of billions of dollars that have been allocated to solve the homelessness crisis really went since theyâre obviously not being used as intended by the voting public.
