THE LIKEMINDED PODCAST
Episode 004 - Backyard Farming!!
Small-scale farms and local produce markets in the ACT push towards food sustainability by reconnecting consumers with local producers. Besides, it is important to understand the value of food produce from farm to plate. Urban farming has several benefits. Firstly, it reduces the carbon footprint of food production and transportation. It also provides access to fresh, healthy produce for city residents. Moreover, it strengthens the sense of community as people come together to grow food. In Canberra, where I live, it's essential because it promotes sustainability in a rapidly growing city.
Sapan Adhikari is an Agricultural Engineer and environmental professional currently living in Canberra, Australia. He engages himself into the world of urban farming/hobby farming and growing vegetables and fresh produce besides working as a fulltime employee in ACT. In this episode, he talks about his experience, challenges and importance of growing your vegetables in your own backyard, or a small community garden.

Welcome back to "Likeminded," the podcast where we delve into the fascinating stories and information from different aspects of life. I'm your host, Sujan, and today we're taking a journey through time to explore the history of Australia's capital city—Canberra.
Noteworthy points;
1.
The Australian government organized an international design competition in 1911 to find a plan for the new capital. An American architect, Walter Burley Griffin, and his wife Marion Mahony Griffin, won the competition with their visionary design. Construction began in 1913.

One hidden gem is the Calthorpes' House, a beautifully preserved example of an early 20th-century home. It provides a glimpse into the daily life of a middle-class family from that era.
