Inspired by a piece from the The Book About Getting Older by Dr Lucy Pollock, Dr Alice Holt, Dr Sarah Kelt, Dr Eleanor Cross and Ian Tyrrell explore how to approach having difficult conversations in regards to Respect documents and resuscitation. They explore how prepared they felt when first approaching these conversations and how they become easier after time. They also discuss the emotional burden that these conversations can have and the importance of self-care and good teamwork.

In episode 3, Ian, Dr Sarah Kelt, Dr Alice Holt and Kim Selby talk through recognising the signs of a dying person in the emergency department. They discuss symptoms that patients may experience and briefly touch on how to treat them. They also talk about the local services available in the trust where they work and innovations that have been created since the beginning of the current pandemic.

In the first episode of the Long Lie, the team talk about Parkinson's disease. They give a brief overview of the disease, explain why patients may present to A&E with Parkinson's Disease. They discuss the actions of Parkinson's medications and their importance. The will also give local examples on how to access medication.
