  • As a working mom with a career you love and a home that you want to give your best to, you carry so much of the mental and emotional load of life at both places. And sometimes all you want is for someone to do what you ask of them. But when you do finally ask someone to help you, nobody listens!

‘Are their ears painted on?’ is something I often wander around muttering to myself! It is so frustrating to feel like you are not being listened to or not being heard, whether this is at work or at home.

In this conversation, I offer a few reasons why people might not be listening (explanations, NOT excuses!) and three ways that you can be more sure that you will be listened to and heard so that you can get the help you need and the results you want from those around you.

Maybe you still do have that spark but its just a bit dimmer? Or maybe it is shining bright! Wherever you are, listen in to this episode!

Leigh Rose tells us all about why she thinks people have lost their spark and what you can do to get it back in this calm, peaceful interview where she is vulnerable about her journey into self-love and what she does to make sure that she keeps her spark and helps others to do the same.

  • Your attention is a most wonderful gift you can give to those around you and to yourself. It has a huge impact on your relationships and on your performance but it is also incredibly fragile. We are so easily distracted and our attention can be broken by the quickest glance at something else!

In this episode, we look at the three systems of attention and how they function to support one another and to support you as you go through your day, engaging with your work, engaging with those around you and engaging with yourself.

As a working mom, where you put your attention and how well you are able to keep it there can impact your stress, the amount of guilt you feel (because you will be so much more focused and present) and how much you can get done. Sound like a win? I think so!

  • Have you ever noticed how confident people appear to have so much energy? And how lacking confidence can mean that generally, or after a specific event or situation, you are left feeling exhausted?

This episode digs a little deeper into how being confident and certain allows us to do the things that give us energy and also to not do the things that deplete our energy. And when we are confident, we are more able to manage our stress, we are more resilient and we are much more able to get the results that we want.

  • In this vulnerable, honest coaching session, Amy wanted to find out how she could set boundaries without feeling guilty.

What it came down to was that she was trying to meet two different sets of values, one that belonged to her and one that belonged to the world.

By figuring out what her values are and what it means to live by these values, she could choose how she finds the space and time she needs while still being the mum, wife and friend that she wants to be.

  • As working moms, we are all after more balance. But when you think about balance, what does it mean to you? Is it two sides of a scale? Or is it balancing on a beam?

While we spend a lot of time desperately trying to find balance, I believe that there is only one way to truly create balance in your life and I talk about it in this episode today.

  • How often have you ‘decided’ that today/this month/this year you are going to do something and you are going to stick to it?

And by lunch time or within a week or a month, you realise that you are doing exactly what you said you weren’t going to do or you are not doing what you said you were going to do? You are not alone! Being consistent is hard for all of us and especially for us as working moms. But I want to tell you that it is NOT about willpower. It is not that you don’t have the willpower. And I also want to tell you that you CAN be consistent.

  • In this hugely insightful interview with Angela Buckley, we talk about her journey of working motherhood and how she has had a very successful career while also spending real quality time with and instilling in her son the values of leadership, including the importance of community.

It was truly an honour to share this time with someone who is so clearly capable and strong and able to be vulnerable in how she leads both herself and those around her. I believe that Angela visibly showcases the elements of resilience that can allow us to stand firm and steadfast in our roles as leader at home and in the workplace.

Angela holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership. She focuses on the intersection of adult learning theory, cultural change, change management, and structural and systems development. Her leadership consulting focuses on mindset, grit, and positive reinforcement to influence change. Angela believes the first step in becoming a leader is to learn to lead yourself: You like yourself, you trust yourself, and you set boundaries for yourself. Once you have mastered the disciplines associated with like, trust, and boundaries, you are ready to start leading others.

  • In this live coaching session, Amanda wanted some help figuring out how she could lose her temper less and could be more present with her children, giving them the attention they need and crave so that their cups can be filled.

I loved the intentionality of this session where she was vulnerable enough to get to know what blockages she had that were causing her to snap at her children or struggle to play with them without being drawn to the millions of things that needed doing.

As a result, she walked away with some useful take aways that can help her to build her resilience so that she can focus, be productive where she needs to be and then be fully present with her children.

Come and join Amanda and the other working mums that I support in building their resilience so that you too can find the peace and ease that we are all after!

  • Oooh, the discomfort of mom guilt! What a thing! It can rule our lives so much that we would rather give up our own boundaries and our needs in order to avoid it.

This episode was a live that I did in my Facebook group which I would love to invite you to be a part of. You can join here: bit.ly/managingmumcommunity

  • 'Hanger' is a term well known in our household. As a working mum, it can be hard to remember to feed myself the right foods let alone the children!

When we don't feed our bodies properly, we experience a physiological shift that means that we cannot think clearly and thus, we do not behave the way that we want to.

This conversation with nutritionist and biokinesiologist Adi St George outlines 3 mistakes we make when it comes to how we feed our bodies. These mistakes can lead to challenges in how we think and behave, not only for ourselves but also for our children. When we are fed correctly, we have so much more capacity to manage the day, whatever age we are!

  • I know that the mid year school holidays can cause huge stress and anxiety. I have felt it myself and I have heard numerous mums talking about it in various places. So if you have felt a bit of dread about this period, you are not alone!

I believe that there are ways that we can feel different about this time, however. Ways that, rather than leaving us depleted, irritable and snappy, can give us the energy to cope with all that it entails and to find some real joy in the precious time it gives us with our families.

Put them into practice and if you are struggling, book a call with me here: https://calendly.com/charlotte-haggie/quick-call-to-answer-your-questions. I want to help you find calm, peace and joy in not only the holidays but all year round as you mother, work and live this precious life you have!
