Today's episode: today we are getting into some very serious topics. First off I will be addressing the very tragic passing of Liam Payne of One Direction as well as the very disgusting behaviour of many people online commenting on this matter. This is sort of a way of exploring the dark side of cyberbullying that knows no limits, not even in front of the death of a person. Cyberbullying is also another crucial element of the recent events surrounding Seunghan of RIIZE and the gap between Korean and Western Kpop fans. Today's episode: it seems like we are witnessing the return of recession pop with the most recent success of records like Brat, Short n' Sweet and The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess which seem to be rejecting the clean girl aesthetic and providing escapism to the financial and social hardships currently experienced by the younger generations. This a retrospective look at the amazing music and pop trends that marked the summer of 2024 while also drawing parallels to the first wave of recession pop of the 2010s all in an effort to analyse how socio-economic conditions inform our music-listening habits.
