    Joanne Hakaraia is a Rongoā Māori Healer and Māori wahine born and raised in Ōtaki, Aotearoa. She is tangata whenua of Aotearoa. The Tararua ranges and the Ōtaki and Waitohu rivers raised her.

    She walks with her ancestors exploring the land and working with the mauri of plants. She created a waka, an esoteric vessel, to navigate her way through the ngahere (forest). One tree at a time. She gathered a roopū (group) and studied the trees that protect the ngahere. Then went further into the ngahere and studied the Rākau Rangatira (The Older trees).

    Connecting to the mauri of plants and sharing that knowledge for healing is Joanne's life purpose. She has dedicated her life to working with and studying plants.
