In this episode I share how we can reframe our emotional experiences with a view to navigating through them and learning from the, I share my 'Give yourself Emotional C.R.E.D.I.T.' model for more positively managing strong emotions. if you are interested in learning more about this, you can find the full course in the Midlife Reshape Membership - check that out.

  • It's episode126.

This week I continue with my S.H.I.T.E. Guide to overcoming over-eating, over-thinking, over-anything; anything that we engage in in an effort to block out, numb, or avoid underlying discomfort, issues or inner-conflicts.

I explore the 'I' of the S.H.I.T.E. Guide and explore isolation, loneliness and disconnection. As humans, this is a powerful evolved need and one we often dismiss as minor or unimportant. Unless, that is you happen to have experienced it yourself.

I explore the difference between solitude and isolation and why the former can be positive, whilst the latter can be overwhelmingly negative. I share how this is not just a psychological pain, but how it affects us physically and for good reason. I also share some thoughts and tips on how to start to reconnect and how we can use our physical habits and mindset to bolster our need for social connection when it isn't at its best.

  • It's episode122.

This week I introduce you to my S.H.I.T.E. Guide to overcoming over-eating, over-thinking and over-working. I often say when it comes to health and weight-loss 'it's not about the diet.' The reason for that is that whilst IT DOES MATTER what we eat, how much we eat and how much activity we build into our lives, that's not where the real challenges are. It's in the day-to-day stresses and challenges of life, our own self-limiting beliefs and self-sabotaging behaviours and how we manage ourselves and those challenges. That's where the S.H.I.T.E. Guide comes in handy. It helps you pinpoint what aspect of life's crap we need to focus on dealing with and get to work on clearing it out. Ths week I give an overview of the S.H.I.T.E. Guide, and in coming weeks I will dive deeper in each of the areas of S.H.I.T.E. offering suggestions on how to overcoem the challenges and stay on track with our goals.

  • It's episode113.

In this episode I complete the series on our relationship with food and explore emotional eating. I distinguish between eating out of boredom and as a result of emotions and share some thoughts on how to better manage our eating and our emotions with a view to managing our weight and health. I also share that this will be the last episode of the podcast for a while. The podcast is not ending, just being put on a hiatus. I share why and thank all my listeners for their time, feedback and encouragement over the last couple of years.

David Algeo is a Restless Midlifer, searching for answers and adventure. His mission is to help other like minded midlifers reshape their weight, health and life - reaguining a zest for adventure for midlife and beyond.

Dave's approach to making changes in life, health and direction, are rooted in his 'sprout sweater philosophy. Check out his 'Crackerjack' video here https://youtu.be/OZM4ObMSu6U to learn more about the basic metaphor. Check out episodes 30 and 31 to learn more about Dave's approach.

  • It's episode112.

This week I resume my series exploring our relationship with food and in particular the social aspect of food, eating and sharing eating (and drinking) experiences with others. I dive into the various aspects of how food and social relationships can play into a propensity to over eat and drink over time and suggest some practical ways to approach this when looking to manage or reduce our weight.
