  • I'm very excited about the chat we're having today because, in over 400 episodes, we've never had a conversation that has been solely and specifically around Crohn's and Colitis.

    This is an issue that is going on in the GI system, in the gut, in the bowels, and was previously thought to be, incurable, that there was no way that you could fix this, and it was something that people just had to live with and manage for the rest of their life.

    My guest today, Josh Dech, who is an ex-paramedic and a Holistic Nutritionist. He specializes in Crohn's and Colitis and other related gut issues, and he has been connected to some of the world's most renowned doctors and practitioners. Really studying and walking the path and learning what he has needed to for his own body and for the clients that he is working with.

    He's been recruited to the Priority Health Academy as a medical lecturer and helping educate doctors on the holistic approach to gut health and inflammatory bowel disease. Josh also launched a top 5%, globally ranked podcast.

  • In this episode, I have Nicole Scott and Melissa Hyde here, and, you know, we have been friends and colleagues and have known each other through the fitness industry, the nutrition industry and through being mothers going through all of the changes that life has brought.

    In the last, you know, few years, I have watched both Melissa and Nicole create a really amazing transition of taking a company that they had built and grown side by side as friends and colleagues and mothers, but now really stepped into a place of education and empowerment for women. This stemmed from going through their own experiences in perimenopause and menopause, at times feeling like they were the only ones that were going through what they were going through.

    They both went through very different experiences, which we're going to spend time talking about because as a woman listening, I think it's so important to hear the variety of ways that we can move through these times in our life.   • In this episode, Jenn discusses her recent decision to take a de-load period, a break from her usual intense training and pace, to focus on recovery and nourishment. She explains that this decision was prompted by her body's need for a change, as she had been pushing herself hard for the past year and a half. Jenn notes that this decision is not just about physical recovery, but also about mental and emotional rejuvenation. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing the signs of adrenal fatigue, such as physical and mental exhaustion, and taking steps to reduce stress and toxicity in one's life. Jenn also shares her personal experience of feeling the need for a de-load, and how it has shifted her focus from building muscle to optimizing recovery and mobility. She encourages listeners to reflect on their own needs and consider taking a de-load period if they feel the need for it.

  • In this episode, I am so excited to have our guest, Lara Briden, back here for the second time. It's been a couple of years since we've done an interview, and we are long overdue. There is a brand new book, that has been released out into the world, which is Metabolism Repair For Women. I'm just so thrilled for this book because it goes very deep into topics like insulin resistance and the fact, as you said, this is a hormonal issue that so many women are dealing with.

  • In this episode, I've been talking in a couple of episodes recently about the importance of gut health. I did one a few weeks ago, all about IBS and the real warning signs that can come with that.

    We run a lot of stool testing inside of our clinic. When we talk about different testing to run, in an ideal scenario, you would have comprehensive, complete blood work that is done. What this does provide you an opportunity from a serum level perspective in your blood to understand in this snapshot in time and what's been going on in your health that's been building up to a lot of your symptoms that you have going on, what is potentially contributing to that. So blood is always going to be the best.

    When we're looking at thyroid markers and full hematology panel, your differentials getting a better understanding of what is going on with iron. Although for true iron pictures, you have to look at what's going on in the gut.

    We're going to talk about that today.

  • Today is actually an impromptu recording. I had another episode that was going to go live this week, but I just came out of being a guest expert inside one of my colleagues workshops that she was hosting. And I feel so riled up based on a lot of the questions and the concerns, the shares and honestly, the confusion that so many of the women had inside of this.

    We talked a lot today about perimenopause, around a lot of the confusion, thinking that your period has to change in order for perimenopause to even be something that has started to think that you have to have every single symptom under the sun in order to be in perimenopause.

    Believing the statistics that when we hear the average woman is 51 years old when she goes through menopause, that that means that you're only going to be around 50 when you go into perimenopause, because it only takes a year. I sat there and thought to myself, isn't it so wild how we live in a time right now where we have access to thousands of podcasts? I'm not the first one that you have listened to, and I definitely won't be the last one.

    We have access to hundreds of thousands of YouTube channels that we could tune into.

    We have Instagram.

    People were following Snap and TikTok and Facebook and blogs and email and you name it. And yet still we are confused, we are frustrated, and we are overwhelmed when it comes to understanding our own body.

  • In this episode, I am dropping in with a couple of reminders, maybe not even reminders, maybe these are things you're hearing for the first time about how to really be supporting your nervous system in your forties. I'm saying in your forties, but I think that these are things that you should be doing in your twenties, your thirties, your forties, your fifties, your sixties, your seventies.

    I really do believe that these are actually tips for better, healthier nervous system support for all of us that are living at this time, in this moment in history. Because it's a lot, everything that we're dealing with on our handheld devices is non stop information and notifications and, binging and dinging and pming and dming and all of the things that are coming at us from our phones or iPads, laptops, we are just constantly bombarded.

    For so many, we can feel like we wake up and, we're eating a healthy breakfast and we're having a healthy lunch and we're eating good food throughout the day. On the surface, you feel like you are doing everything right, but there's this energy in your body or this fatigue, this kind of exhaustion, your body feeling depleted or feeling deficient and you can't quite put your finger on it.

    And a lot of the time, especially for women's health and hormones.

  • In this episode, we are chatting about my simplicity in six tips for weight loss and for creating a really fit, strong body in your forties. Now, at the time of this recording, I'm just a couple of weeks away from turning 45, so I'm officially into my mid-forties.

    I know everyone says this when they hit a certain stage of their life. Well, maybe not everyone, but it seems to be my experience in having conversations with a lot of women. I grew up hearing when you hit your forties, that meant you were old and after 40, your body kind of just felt like it fell apart and went downhill.

    My experience has been the opposite, at least in the first half of my forties, and I feel more connected to my body than I ever have in my forties.

  • In this episode, We are talking all about your gallbladder health and perimenopause. This is a really under discussed, overlooked area of our health at any point in our life, but most definitely when we're starting to experience an increase in hormonal symptoms, inflammation, digestive issues, you know, bowel issues, skin issues, energy, weight loss, all of the above. It's something that I see really often in my clients.

    In the last couple of years, what I recognized is that there was a direct correlation with, liver stagnation and signs of liver toxicity, or maybe not even toxicity, but just sluggish liver activity, meaning that the liver was not able to do the job that it was meant to do as well. Therefore, we were starting to have some upstream and downstream impact in terms of side effects or symptoms, rather, and the role that the gallbladder was playing in that.

    It's very difficult to work on one without working on the other and making sure that they are equally supported, because the liver and the gallbladder, they are working within one another and depend on the health of each other.
