  • Today, we delve into the age-old question of... Am I ready to date again?

Some of you totally wanna date again - but are jumping the gun, ready to repeat all the same stuff that happened in your last relationship!

And others of you are tentative - and rightly so - but you don't want that to stop you forever.

Has it been long enough to date again? Is it too soon to date again? Am I ready to date again?

Beacuse there's a tonne of advice out there that could have you confused over this:

Is it 6 months after a break up?
Is it as long as you're "over your ex" (whatever that means?!)
    Or is

Trust me, there'll be no specific time scales given in this episode.
But instead of listening to all the cliche stuff, I'll tell you the real tests you can do to find out if you're actually ready to get out there and date again.

  • You’ve been told to “play it cool”, “match their energy” and leave the same amount of time they take to reply to reply back to them.

But despite all those things, you feel stressed, increasingly annoyed and spend the entire time clock-watching - whether that’s for when the last replied, eagerly awaiting their next reply, only to be disappointed when you check and there’s still no response
or you’re ticking down the time that you’ve limited yourself by to reply.

Surely if this worked, we wouldn’t have to feel this way every time we were chatting to someone?!

This was my exact thoughts when I was dating.

It wasn’t meant to be this hard and stressful was it?!

And I’m pleased to tell you, it doesn’t have to be!

Sure, some people would’ve found a magic solution after implementing these things
but if your stress levels are sky high, and that sneaky anxious attachment is creeping in, this might not be the best way to date (and might even be keeping you single!)

So join me for todays episode where we stop playing the dating games and start dating with more calm, ease and confidence - and still find the good ones!

  • September is here, and it's the start of Autumn creeping in. Having worked with singles over the past three years, September always has a single shift.

Gone are the highs of all those sunny days, and in come the lows of the short, dark days. • In today’s epsiode, you’re getting my approval to be out and proud about being single
AND want to be in a relationship at the same time.

I’ve noticed a narrative in the single space that being single means you have to embrace singlehood only.

And sure, there’s a time and a place to take a break from dating.

For some, that break never ends!

But for other singles, getting happy and accepting being single is one thing.

To stay that way forever? That wasn’t on their lifetime bingo card!

So move over being a single spinster forever *if that doesn’t suit you*.

There’s room for being your own version of single, whether it lasts just a chapter or two, or takes us tight to the very end of your story.

So hear me out on this week’s episode to get your dose of single life empowerment, however you choose to live it!

  • Looking back at Episode #9, there's a bunch of ways you can find new friends... but depsite the strategies shared in that episode, it can feel hard to find friends when you don't have that bestie like other people do.

You yearn for someone that you can be as close as...

But some friendships aren't meant to be forever.

We certainly can't force that kind of friendship to occur. But our focus on those relationships means we overlook some of the best friendships that can fill up our lives, and that's situational friends.

They're the ones you have a singular exprience with, probably to never see again, but you have an absolute blast getting to know at a festival, on a trip, whilst you're on a train.

So in today's episode, I'm taking a deep dive into these alternative friendships to share the postive impact they can have on your lives (and how not all frienships are meant to last forever)

  • It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years since my separation... in 2018 I was getting married, but by the following summer in 2019, I was back home living with my parents.

At the time, it felt like my whole life was up in the air. Everything I'd worked for in my late teens was gone in a flash.

It was what needed to happen... but that didn't make it any easier.

So 5 years on, I'm sharing my biggest life lessons now that time has passed, the divorce is well and truly in the past, and my life looks a whole lot different to five and six years ago!

  • I know I talk *a lot* about loneliness. If you’re single, we know it’s a risk factor, and that makes sense - you don’t have that person to go home to, you can be left out of invites from your coupled up friends who “didn’t think you’d want to be invited” and you can feel that sense of not being a priority to anyone

But I always want to emphasise that getting into a relationship doesn’t take that sense of loneliness away at times, of not feeling involved, not belonging
and here’s a very personal share of how that still exists in coupled up life.

  • Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you’re lonely
but we know being single makes you more likely to experience loneliness, which can lead to all kinds of knock on effects to your mental health.

It can make you feel like you don’t matter as much as other people, like no one would notice if you were gone, and like everyone else has other stuff going on all the time and there’s you, at home, wasting your evenings away on apps and box sets.

But I’m here to share with you the real reason you’re feeling lonely, something I discovered during my own personal development journey of finding myself again and understanding what loneliness really was so I could tackle it head on.

  • Taken from the inspiration of Episode 4, I share a moment I experienced in my personal development journey, when I started to question everything around me.

And one of the things I had to look back at in my past, to work out where I got this skewed understanding of it from, and actually find out what it really meant was “what is love?”.

So today, I’ll share with you the theory from Sternberg that changed my understanding and allowed me to apply it to my friendships and relationships, so I could get to the bottom of what love really was - instead of having the Disney princess version of love as the blueprint.

  • Welcome to the BRAND NEW episode of the new era of this podcast, The Single Spark.

We say goodbye to The Single Girl's Guide to Life to welcome in a fresh era the The Single Spark. Don't worry - it doesn't mean we're entirely changing. This is still the podcast for singles, but this time we're in our 30s - Chantelle turned 31 this very week and life in your 30s is very different to being in your 20s, and even more so when you're single.

And to kickstart this new series, we're looking at helping you get your spark back after going through the end of a relationshop.

After a break-up, your life is completely turned upside down. You're moving house, leaving behind a life you thought was going to be your future, and you're single - something you weren't expecting to happen as you started to settle down and plan what your life was going to look like.

And it isn't just the practicalities of your life.

With the loss of the relationship and the person you spent so much time with, you lose a little part of yourself too. And this episode is there for you to get that you, that spark back again.
