Weâre looking at the first âGrand Tourâ of the season in this ArrivĂ©e episode from The Cycling Podcast FĂ©minin. Rose Manley and Denny Gray of The British Continental pick out the big stories from a week of varied and exhilarating racing.
SD Worx came to the race looking for redemption after being narrowly denied the Vuelta title in last yearâs controversial edition, but their leader Demi Vollering had a lot to prove after a disappointing Spring campaign. Her closest rivals - Kasia Niewiadoma and Elisa Longo Borghini - had both already taken landmark wins this year and were on confident form.
Thereâs also plenty to discuss away from the GC race, in a course that offered up high mountains, a team time trial, breakaway success and chaos causing crosswinds.

As per tradition, in association with our friends at Dvine Cellars in London, weâre presenting a selection of six wines showcasing the same terroir that the Giro dâItalia will visit in May. And, as weâve done in other years, weâve asked Greg Andrews of Dvine to talk us through the selection on the eve of the race.
If youâre not into wine, this is NOT the podcast for you! If, however, you do want to hear what Greg and Daniel have to say, stay tuned and head to https://dvinecellars.com/products/the-cycling-podcast-giro-ditalia to make an order.
The wines in the case are listed below with links to the (all very informative) producersâ websites. Unfortunately, Dvineâs cases are still only available to UK listeners but in many instances you will be able to find similar wines, from the same regions, wherever you are. Please also enjoy in moderation!
The wines (in Giro route order):
STAGE 3: Summer Wolff, GioGio Freisa, Monferrato, Piedmonte (https://www.summerwolffwines.com/)
STAGE 6: Cosimo Maria Massini, Annick, Sauvignon Blanc/Vermentino, Tuscany (https://www.cosimomariamasini.com/en/)
STAGE 11: Caiaffa, Negroamaro, Puglia (https://www.caiaffavini.it/en/)
STAGE 11: Di Majo Norante, Sangiovese, Campomarino, Molise (https://www.dimajonorante.com/en)
STAGE 16: Cantina Adriano, MĂŒller-Thurgau, Trentino Alto-Adige (https://www.kellerei-andrian.com/)
STAGE 18: Serafini & Vidotto, Bollicine Rosé NV, Veneto (https://www.serafinividotto.it/)

The Giro dâItalia starts here! We begin Girovagando 2024 - our comprehensive coverage of the first Grand Tour of the 2024 season - with our now time-honoured XL preview, ahead of Saturdayâs Grande Partenza in Turin.
Daniel Friebe is joined by Brian Nygaard and Rob Hatch for a thorough examination of riders, race route and the big questions ahead of an edition that Tadej PogaÄar is widely expected to win. The episode features exclusive interviews with two men who have seen first-hand just how thoroughly PogaÄar has prepared for his first appearance in âLa Corsa Rosaâ - Team UAE Emiratesâ Performance Coordinator Jeroen Swart and climbing lieutenant RafaĆ Majka.
We also discuss cultural highlights on the route, what to look forward to from our podcasts in the next month - and one terrifying threat that will loom over the whole race when we get to Naples.

In this special episode of The Cycling Podcast - before our Girovagando coverage cranks up next week - we both revisit and preview six new KM0 episodes either released earlier in April or still to come before the Grande Partenza in Turin on May 4.
As ever, weâll be serving up daily podcasts from on the ground in Italy, where the mood music in the run-up to the race has been dominated by Tadej PogaÄar and his Giro-Tour bid. No surprise, then, that weâll dedicate three KM0 episodes to âdoublesâ of varying kinds - specifically, the last successful Giro-Tour slam by Marco Pantani, the football team that achieved Italyâs first Scudetto-Coppa Italia double and to whom the Grande Partenza is dedicatedâŠand PogaÄarâs own bid.
There are also extracts from our own âdouble-headerâ - How to Become a Pro Cyclist and How to Become an Ex-Pro Cyclist featuring Jack Burke and Joe Dombrowski respectively. And, speaking of new roles, we also meet INEOS Grenadiers freshly appointed CEO, John Allert.

In this final ArrivĂ©e episode from the Ardennes Classics, Rose Manley and Rebecca Charlton take a close look at this yearâs LiĂšge-Bastogne-LiĂšge Femmes which was full of twists and turns both literally and figuratively.
The scene was set for something of a final grudge match between some of the biggest winners and unexpected losers of the Ardennes week. Team SD-Worx came in hoping to rebuild something of their âinvincibleâ status having not taken a win in the Ardennes. But with Elisa Longo-Borghini in flying form and Kasia Niewiadoma on a high after her FlĂšche Wallonne victory, last yearâs triple crown winners could expect challenges from all sides. And after a week full of surprises, LiĂšge-Bastogne-LiĂšge promised more of the same.

In this episode of ArrivĂ©e, Daniel Friebe and Richard Abraham reflect on a 2024 edition of LiĂšge-Bastogne-LiĂšge that had been billed as a clash of the Titans between the two outstanding riders of the season so far, world champion Mathieu van der Poel and 2021 LiĂšge winner Tadej PogaÄar.
With the Amstel Gold and FlĂšche Wallonne winners, Tom Pidcock and Stephen Williams, also on the starting grid, PogaÄar and Van der Poel perhaps werenât going to have it all their own way. Find out who ultimately prevailed and how they did it in this final ArrivĂ©e episode of the menâs Classics season.

Rose Manley and Denny Gray of The British Continental offer up their âhot-takesâ on an ever explosive edition of FlĂšche Wallonne Feminine.
With SD Worx still smarting from a mis-step from Lorena Wiebes at the Amstel Gold Race, the team was looking for revenge at the second Ardennes race of the week, particularly with defending champion Demi Vollering in their ranks. But theyâll face a huge challenge from Lidl-Trek, buoyed by Elisa Longo Borghiniâs win at Brabantse Pijl. And time is running out for Orla Chennaouiâs predicted Kasia Niewiadoma win in the Ardennes, so might it come true this time?

In this episode of Arrivée, Daniel Friebe and Richard Abraham review a brutal edition of FlÚche Wallonne, ridden in the rain and plummeting temperatures.
After his victory in Amstel Gold at the weekend, could the pre-race favourite Tom Pidcock live up to that billing and complete an historic double? Or would someone else - perhaps one of the many previous winners in the field, like Dylan Teuns or Marc Hirschi - conquer the Mur de Huy?

After a challenging start to the season for INEOS Grenadiers, Tom Pidcockâs victory in Amstel on Sunday was balm for the British teamâs morale and confidence. We ask whether it could also be a watershed moment in the Yorkshiremanâs career - particularly with this yearâs Tour de France in mind.
Larryâs eyes and focus are set firmly on the Giro - and, in the last part of the podcast, the âMotown Maestroâ reveals how he and team leader Ben Oâ Connor have built towards âLa Corsa Rosaâ.
