Bible study reflection solo or with friends is an inspirational segment for Johnathan as a result of getting together for bible study with friends Erik and Jennifer and still having more to say. Thus far, the segment has been about unpacking different passages of scripture read in bible study and still feeling the need to explore things more deeply. Over the last two Weeks I’ve been in the Word. This week as I continue to work on a message in the Gospel of Matthew series I thought it would be cool if I shared a Bible Study topic I planned to talk about with the Senior’s Bible study I have every Saturday if the Lord permits. I hope that this topic blesses you and encourages you to keep on studying and spending time with the Lord.

The ‘’Words’’ Greatest, Greatness, and Greater are used considerably in all forms of completion that you can think of. One that is most common is Athletics. The arenas or stadiums where sporting events and games occur. This is where you will find some of the most talented, Gifted, and smart athletes in the world competing against one another. These words are also used to measure performance. Whether it’s in the past or present….. Individual or team. When you are on the biggest stages in the greatest moments. Are you the best in that category remains to be the question everyone wants to know. Continuing in the Gospel of Matthew series I read Matthew 11:11 and thought it would be cool to talk about what Jesus said from a Biblical perspective. I also wanted to address what Jesus meant when he said “No one greater than John the Baptist.”

Here on The Truth of the matter is I do my best to post once a week. However as a student of God's Word I found myself taking an additional week of study. As I come back to you today I am filled with Joy because I have so much to share with you that God revealed to me in my personal time with Him. Continuing with the Gospel of Matthew series today we unpack Matthew 11:7-10. My suggestion as always is to take notes of the passages that I use as support in explaining certain points that I make throughout the podcast. The goal is to become a student of God’s Word and sometimes that means recognizing the Patterns, principles and precepts. I hope this blesses you as much as it has blessed me.

“The truth of the matter is” podcast is all about providing an honest, contextual, historicized, Philosophical and Psychological view of the Bible through the use of Hermeneutics, while sharing some personal experiences from myself, Daniel and on occasion our special guest. We believe in sharing practical ways of applying God’s word to everyday life. Today I had a conversation with Virginia Jones who is a woman of many talents; she knits, cooks, tends to a farm and is the creator of the vintage café podcast. I enjoyed my conversation with Virginia and felt that this would be beneficial to listeners as well. Check it out!

Another wrinkle that has been added to this segment is to address real life situations through a biblical lens. This week I had the opportunity to be a guest on a podcast called ‘Come to JESUS’ and one of the questions that was posed was should we let go of the past to only embrace what the Lord has for us In the New year? After that conversation I felt inspired to dig even deeper and so I decided to go back to the drawing broad and see what else the Word of God had to say!

The truth of the matter is The Lord God can show up in subtle ways. The question is are we paying attention to when He does? The question that we often ask on the podcast is how has the Lord been a blessing to you? It's a fundamental question, yes but that reflection component is so essential. This week on the podcast Johnathan spends more time giving the Word of God credit as to how he was blessed this past week as opposed to a physical blessing he experienced a mental one instead. You do not want to miss the wisdom that he shares within the first 20 minutes of the podcast. There is a call to action that you might want to apply in your own life. Continuing with the Gospel of Matthew series the passage for discussion today is Matthew 11:6 with a tie to a few more verses that help bring about a much more meaningful message. Tune in to receive what God has for you.

Merry Christmas. If you are traveling, be safe. If you are going to see family and friends make sure you tell them that you appreciate them. In This episode I decided to unpack Luke 2:19. If you are on the road, taking the train, getting on a plane this is for you! Any time I was traveling for the holidays I always wanted to have content to listen to but guess what? Everyone was busy and took off, so I wanted to do something different and provide something because I used to be in your shoes. I hope that this blesses you as much as it has blessed me when I thought about it and want to record it for you to hear. God bless and once again Merry Christmas.

There comes a time when you read the scriptures that you are going to have more questions than answers. Does that mean you should be concerned? No. Here's why: what makes the Word of God interesting and such a mystery is that it will leave you with the opportunity to search for those answers. It will give you the opportunity to get on your knees and ask God for his to reveal things to you. Matthews 7:7 NLT says, Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” So if you don't receive an answer at first, give it time. This episode was inspired by a Bible study I had with a friend. Yes this could have easily been a Bible reflection solo or with friends but this conversation made me go back and revisit the text and learn something I might have missed with deeper insight. I love the practice of thinking deeply and that's exactly what this passage did for me so I share it with you today. The text was Luke 8:1-3 ok. Enjoy!

This Week I Returns after (Mia) for 2-3 weeks due to work related commitments. Instead of continuing with the Gospel of Matthew Series This week I felt inspired to go much deeper into a conversation that got started at the outskirts of the genesis of this podcast dealing with episode 1. It was episode 1 that I never went back and provided a much more comprehensive breakdown of what the Bible has to offer in greater detail followed with examples, and food for comments and connection. I have to admit the Bible study that I had with the seniors inspired me to finish what I started in episode 181. My suggestion is if you plan on tuning in, take notes and be willing to dive into the scripture during your own personal time to draw the connections. If need be give this episode a few more listens in order to see where I went with everything in detail. From “The truth of the matter is” podcast Happy Thanksgiving and I hope everyone enjoys each other's company safely. I hope this blesses you!

Continuing with the Gospel of Matthew series we move on to unpack Matthew 11:2-5. It was this passage of Scripture that inspired the title of episode 178. It was this passage of Scripture that made me realize what we hear can definitely impact what we might believe and what we will ultimately see. As people of faith there is nothing more straightforward than this: Walking by Faith, concentrating not on what is seen but on what is not seen, and remembering that faith comes from hearing, and that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. Tune to see What John The Baptist did by focusing on what he heard and how that gave him the hope and strength in what he knew all he waited on was visible validation from his disciple.

Continuing through the Gospel of Matthew series we move on to Matthew chapter 11. I found myself completely stopping at verse 1 and it reads: When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their cities. At first It seemed like such a basic sentence it's time to move on but because we just had finished chapter 10 before eventually moving on to chapter 11 verse 1 really sums up what Jesus did in Matthew 10. When you read verse 1 Jesus gave instruction and followed up leading by example. Pretty much doing what He sent his disciples to do. Tune in to understand why I think this observation is such a big deal to me and if you overlook it you're missing something profound.

Continuing through the Gospel of Matthew series After my Conversation with Paul Granger I wanted to do a quick review of Matthew of 10:35-36. Explaining the value of having someone who is a father a parent to give experience perspective. Sometimes ideas are helpful when you are making suggestions, however there comes a time when you operate in between the hypothetical and the reality and I believe more people will benefit from the reality. Finishing up with Matthew 10 was an honor as we dive into what it means to be Worthy of Jesus Christ. What is required of a believer to be worthy? Tune in if you want to take in consideration of these suggestions.

Continuing through the Gospel of Matthew series I thought that it would be a great idea to change things up a bit, so I invited an old friend to the Gospel of Matthews series to have an intentional conversation. The truth of the matter is... sometimes when it comes down to discussing Biblical passages you can speculate about what it takes to live it out but ultimately there's a challenge to move in faith especially when you can’t see the outcome. Living out what God tells is no easy task, which is why we need to learn from our mistakes. Let’s also appreciate the experiences we have because that is what makes the difference when you speak into the lives of others. The question becomes: do you have the wisdom to inform me down the right path? Which is why I thought that this week it would benefit you all if I brought on an old friend to share some of his wisdom from his experiences since he has lived much longer than I have and knows much more than I do; more importantly he’s a husband and a father which fits right into what the passage is addressing. The passage that we are discussing is the Gospel of Matthew 10:35-36.
