In today’s episode, we have the pleasure of speaking with Aaron, an adventure cyclist and dedicated vegan whose passion for travel and cycling has taken him across beautiful landscapes, particularly in Colombia. Aaron’s journey began over a decade ago when a friend introduced him to both cycling and veganism, sparking a life-changing adventure.
Aaron shares his incredible experiences cycling through Colombia, including a challenging 700km coastal ride and training for the famed Alto de Letras climb. He describes Colombia as a welcoming and safe destination, debunking myths about its dangers and highlighting the warmth and hospitality of the Colombian people.
One of the standout aspects of Aaron’s travels is his experience with veganism in Colombia. He found that even in rural areas, vegan options were surprisingly accessible. Aaron gives practical advice on communicating dietary needs and learning essential Spanish phrases, ensuring that vegan travelers can enjoy delicious plant-based Colombian cuisine. In urban areas, he discovered a range of gourmet vegan restaurants, enhancing his travel experience.
Aaron also shares valuable tips for aspiring adventure cyclists, such as preparing for mountainous terrain, physical training, acclimatizing to high altitudes, and carrying extra provisions. He emphasizes the importance of learning basic Spanish to enhance communication and travel efficiency.
